Not perfect, but he was well done. They had talked about him well before the movie released.

I think the gist was "When you meet Darth Vader for the first time, ifs is fully formed (he has fuuly chosen and embraced the dark side) Kylo Ren however is a work in progress he is not trained ect...)

I think they conveyed this well enough that he isnt the finished article.

The only heavy handed moment was
when he is talking to Vaders helmet asking for guidance because he can feel the lure of the light side. That was so clunky. It was done much better when he faced of the Han Solo and there was amoment where it looked like he could down his weapon.

I liked him, and I think he can grow into a fully realized villian in episode 8.
Personally I liked episode 3 Anakin goes full crazy.!

I think this one is better than return of the Jedi.

This. Imo it goes 5, 4, 7, 6, 3, 1, 2

As for the villain I think he was done perfectly,
they succeeded at making a conflicted, bratty villain who is not as strong as he thinks he his, which is something Lucas completely failed at in the prequels with Anakin imo.

yeah agreed.

For just half a second, I thought he might not but Han, but yeah... That was a brilliant scene.
However, I did hate that he took his helmet off. Rule number one of a good horror movie, is that you never show the demon, or else it's just not scary anymore. I was fucking MORTIFIED when he took his helmet off and looked like the Dark Lord of the virgins.
I remember hating the Phantom Menace, I remember tolerating Episode III, but Episode II is a blank for me, I assume my mind went into it's crisis mode safe place and no memories were kept, and hopefully it will stay that way. I think I saw it once in the cinema when it first came out and never again (as I did for Episode III).
its a really smart and easy way to humanize the character, putting a face on the devil really makes the character more complex than could've been portrayed had he kept the mask on the whole time

Ren only has a helmet because he knows it's the only way for him to be intimidating. And for him to be like Darth Vader was. Really Ren is very insecure and uncertain of himself in a lot of ways.

Kinda like how Snoke is probably only 4 foot but uses that fucking gigantic hologram to display authority and to intimidate.

Kylo Ren in my opinion is the best villain in the entire saga. He's just a twisted young man. Or the anti Luke as i put it.

Luke: A good person tempted by the Dark Side but in the end standing up to the emperor not only saved him from the dark side but also redeemed his father.

Kylo Ren: A horrible person who is Tempted by the light side of the force, but in the end he stands up to the light and commits himself to the dark side by murdering his father.

Could Snoke be Darth Plageuis, who convinced Palpatine that he'd successfully killed him but somehow managed to survive? There certainly seem to be hints of that. Someone pointed out to me that the music while Snoke is talking in VII is almost identical to that being played while Palpatine talks to Anakin about the 'tragedy of Darth Plageuis the wise' in III.

I'm convinced he's Plageuis

On another note, I am fucking sick of people going on and on about Kylo Ren being weak in the fights with Finn and Rey. First of all he ruined Finn, who gets one lucky shot in and gets destroyed a second later . Second of all he's not a trained jedi/sith ffs, he's had some training but they made a point of mentioning his training is not complete.

He was also shot by Chewie's Bowcaster ffs, he was nowhere near 100% in that fight.

Saw it today. Thought it was easily the most enjoyable star wars film but that could just be because its new.

Whenever I watch Star Wars I can't help but get distracted thinking about all the sand that must get stuck in R2-D2 and C-3PO's joints travelling through the deserts all the time. That new droid got annoyed me even more in that regard.

I thought the it should have ended before revealing Luke Skywalker, leave that open for the next one. Finding him kind of skipped over the grieving and celebrations that there should have been after destroying the Star Destroyer.
