Sigh. I designed these ages ago and have been sitting on them for all this time. Might as well share them with the world.

Colours are blue white and gold, blue and white for Eureka and gold for the obvious.

I've always been an addict of this Nike champagne gold colour that Juventus used a few years back on an away kit, that would just be mint.

Southerland Sharks.

I'm not sure if it would be a popular choice but I would call a team representing the southern part of Sydney the Botany Stingrays.

I am currently producing a spreadsheet that includes the current and projected populations for these 6 regions and I'll try to massage the registered football player numbers to indicate the number of players in each region.

The map is on a PDF, so I'll have to cut it out but thanks a lot, I'll also add your spreadsheet to the OP, lovely work(y)

@palad I'll add those to the OP too, the cross is very unique and different, from the kits I've seen anyway. I like it.

Thanks mate, it's actually partially going off a Nike template, their kit for Serbia (IIRC) had a similar cross, and I think it suits very well.

Could or is there a team in the NPL that could start setting up to represent south west Sydney based in the Campbelltown area. That is progressive enough in a couple of years to be able to be promoted to the A league. We need that so we can start having promotion and relegation eventually.

unfortunately not

what the south-west currently has is 3 of the strongest npl sides all with a monoethnic root, sydney united 58, bonnyrigg white eagles and marconi stallions.

if heart had been more patient and went to where you currently have Dandenong in the first place they would have been much more successful than the mess they are now. Dandenong is far enough out to make a trip to AAMI Park undesirable and is going to become Melbourne's "Parramatta" in the future. That said if they don't move then if we were to put more teams in the league from Victoria then that you are spot on regarding who to put in.

There should probably never be more than two clubs in Melbourne. At least, for the next 50 years, I think. Heart could try moving to the southwest, maybe Frankston, and building a stadium there. Next up for Vic should be Geelong.

I looked there to see if there were any clubs from SW or S Sydney and couldn't find anything. I didn't quite like through everything so I might've missed it so have a look if anyone has the time.

But if we're just spitballing. I'd prefer a SW team to not have "South West" in the name. Doesn't roll off the tongue well. Since the whole region runs accross a military base, perhaps it could be something to do with that? Something like the Sydney Gunners could work? It's something that isn't your typical euro team name like FC, United, City, somewhat relates to the region and is a name synonomous with football, not unlike Wanderers you could say (plus they would have a pretty nice badge). That said, I hope they do a vote if/when they get a team.

Not an expert on Melbourne, and not sure if these areas are connected very well, but Dandenong, Kingston, Casey, who looked at the possibility of an A-league bid and Frankston have a combined population of 662k.

If you were going to do a geographical divide, that'd be the only way. People always try to draw a line through the CBD and go "East Melbourne club, West Melbourne club". Doesn't work that way.

To further add to the above diagrams, the PFA recommended that the 2 Melbourne teams share one stadium but represent 2 different geographical areas. However with Sydney, the recommendation was that the 3 clubs play out of separate stadiums representing their regions.

I don't see the need to fabricate a new team out of thin air. There are plenty of existing clubs with still loyal supporter to this day.

Yet this is the way, more or less, that the FFV have split the city (below State 1 league) for as long as most can remember. Because there is no strict geographical design here, due to the centralized nature of the city, one must create an artificial divide - east/west, north/south, rich/poor, labour/liberal, young/old, whatever.

Is there ANY chance whatsoever that a SWS club could be set up and owned by the "big 3"? Marconi, SU and the Serb team. Plus input from Macarthur.

Played at a neutral ground (or by some other arrangement) with these four teams acting as feeders?

There is no shortage of potential feeder clubs for a SWS team. Bonnyrigg White Eagles finished 3rd in the NPL1 and Macarthur, Mounties and Bankstown finished 2nd, 3rd and 5th respectively in NPL2. The region currently has a registered player base equivalent to South Australia and in 8 years time when another team in Sydney might be a goer it should have a player base equivalent to Western Australia now.

The problem for a team is finding a suitable ground well away from Parramatta Stadium.

If the Bulldogs rugby league club built their 35,000 seat rectangular (Oasis) stadium at Woodward Park, Liverpool, then that would be an ideal place to plonk in a club. Infact, some may argue that it would be perfect for the Wanderers instead of using Parramatta Stadium.

Added Perth sub-regions population, they aren't that impressive, thinking about re-naming the thread "The Future of the A-league Thread"

Thoughts?
