The reason I raised that was that SFC were the original side in the market for many years and the new team has doubled their current total after one year. MH is a comparison that comes from the opposite side of things, with the biggest club in the league to compete with, and unfortunately our success rate on the park hasn't been anything to get excited about yet. Not ideal.
Yes, the Parramatta Stadium size and the success WSW had last year are key drivers for these figures, but it's still interesting reading.
WSW have really lifted the league in many ways, and along with that they have dragged SFC along to make a signing like ADP to combat the competition. That move, along with HK signing for MV after a year of MH being in the market just showed how competition can drive the clubs to lift their game.

Overall, some good numbers being seen. SFC must feel a little behind its newer brother (WSW) though  Why? People don't need to become members of SFC to see all the matches, for a lot of people it just doesn't make sense. I got plenty of mates that love SFC but don't want/need a membership to be committed supporters. Gradual growth in membership after each year is better than receding. One day you will see all your mates buy memberships. Well last year there was an average of 18 000 in a 45 000 seater stadium so there's not exactly a high demand for memberships so people don't feel the need to sign up.

I don't understand how these tweets from clubs resemble a real form of marketing. Do they actually think that people on the fence will jump at the chance to become a member just because they have a 1 in 4000 chance of winning a signed jersey from Zullo? How about creating a real incentive like for all present/new members that sign up a friend or family member that has never been a member will receive a 20 - 40% credit/discount on their current membership or on merchandising at the official store. Now that i believe would help increase membership figures.

Adelaide just emailed "59 memberships away from 4000 at noon Friday." Even a mong should be able to do that maths: 3941 Sad that the club is working itself into a tizzy over 4000. We can and must do better

Someone else might see info about the 7 game pass and be tempted by that if not by the whole season. I have no problem with little give always. It costs the club little and is general good publicity. Gets people thinking about the club during a long off season. They could probably give other things but hey they are doing more than previous years and our memberships are double what they were at this stage last year

Of course it's not going to do any harm, but it would be good if they started to test some solid ideas. I'm not just talking about Adelaide, this goes for pretty much every club other than Victory and WSW. The idea of giving a major discount (perhaps cost price) on merchandising for existing members that sign up new fans would be of huge benefit and of no real cost to the club. Testing your market is the only way you are going to find out if this work. In saying all of that, I do appreciate that clubs are now taking a concerted effort in their membership drive.

Sydney also doesn't charge or count members under 12 who play football. Then what's the point in even having memberships then guys?! PERHAPS it was THIS kind of thinking that saw the likes of SFC and Roar's memberships soo low to begin with, where Victory, with the culture in Melbourne, were great guns from get go? I know people have discussed the differences with this issue, North and South, ad-nauseam, but again, I'm sure we ALL see now, the value of having a strong member base. Clearly SFC does now and has for the last few seasons, hence the more concerted effort in this area. Let's flip it - You guys are building, and building to record high memberships and record high average crowds. That may be thanks to ADP and Wanderers but IMHO only in-part thanks to those two. IF SFC weren't pulling their fingers out, you wouldn't be taking advantage of these opportunities half as much - not unlike the missed opportunities earlier in your A-L existence. 10-11k members, 19k avg crowds - push up to 20-21k or so average and that big stadium is looking that much closer to being filled, especially when some of the bigger drawing ties are drawing near FH attendances, lifting that average even more! Victory play alot of games at the overlarge Docklands Dome, but that isn't such an issue, given their crowds. SFC can essentially be the same, if they start to draw similar level crowds at SFS (Which isn't as large as Docklands anyway). Edited by GloryPerth: 30/8/2013 08:41:42 PM

MH seems to have hit the fast forward button all of a sudden, up to 4285 now.
Big rise in one day. Those calls from players must be working :)

Joffa, It may be better to just have '-', '?', 'N/A', 'TBA', ':/', '*Tumbleweed*' or something? That would be more technically correct. ;/ Also, I prefer the way you had your list formatted before, alphabetically, it had a more balanced, nicer, visual aesthetic to it! :p TheSelectFew wrote:Heart_fan wrote:TheSelectFew wrote:I may have missed it, why are Perth on 0? Doesn't seem 'too soon' either, even for them, considering the 'renewals period' for Glory ended a couple weeks or so ago now (?) and the member packages they announced/released have also been out for a couple weeks now? And we're entering a month out from the season (And infact close to when the A-League USED to start), so it's definitely a time that Memberships, Membership campaigns etc... should be picking up? As indeed they seem to be, across the league! Heart_fan wrote:MH seems to have hit the fast forward button all of a sudden, up to 4285 now.

Edited by heart_fan: 30/8/2013 08:16:15 PM Woh, well done Heart. With all your bad luck with the injured Marquee, you still have Kewell and a talented squad. If Heart and their model aren't an example for their fellow 'stragglers' in the membership game, I don't know who are? Their membership tracker is as active, ticking over, as any of them too!
