No. We should take a squad capable of winning every game. But clearly you don't need a squad full of the oldest kids to beat the likes of Brunei. Why are you talking about 'the oldest squad'. It's U16 they're all young and have restrictions. So you couldn't take a promising 13y.o with an eye to the future, for example? You select a 13 year old given the physical difference between 13 year and 16 old is quite large and also he would be too young also, i remember watching the the last batch of under 17s and they had a a lot of 15 and 14 year olds and physically they got ambushed especially against Iran where they lost 5-1. I wouldn't know this group of joeys well enough but i suspect they got it better this time around, given they can compete physically a lot better as well having the technical capacity to do so, you would think. Edited by Barca4life: 28/8/2013 07:06:26 PM Fair post, Barca. This year the under 14 rep team I coached played the Skilleroos in a few practice games, who were technically better, but were a year younger. Our team were able to make mistakes and win the ball back due to greater physical strength. With players their own age, or older, this wouldn't have occurred. Edited by Decentric: 28/8/2013 07:26:56 PM I think the age gap really shows at younger ages. I've played rugby as a U13 playing 15 year olds. Lets just say that was my last year.

Early prediction that the final will be Australia v Vietnam in the final. There seems to be no real quality in the other group from what I can see.

I hope we go on to win the whole tournament, it would be a great confidence boost for these young lads. :)

It's going to be a long road for the lads to qualify for the World Cup but I hope they do it. Just a reminder, post 2006 we have only QUALIFIED 1/4. Shocking statistic IMO.

We shouldn't have problems qualifying. We have an easy group but you never know.

To be eligible for the 2014 AFC u16 championship players must be born after 1/1/98 so therefore they are currently they are 15 at most. One of the keepers Dragicevic is a year younger.

FT: Malaysia 0-0 Indonesia This means Singapore has to beat Laos by 4 goals or more if they wish to go through to face Australia. Otherwise we will be playing Indonesia in the Semi Finals of the competition. Singapore v Laos will be in 15 minutes. Edited by theselectfew: 29/8/2013 09:28:57 PM

In the final game of the group stage Laos has beaten Singapore 2-1 which means we will be playing Indonesia in the semi finals. Vietnam will play Malaysia. Semi finals are to take place on the 31st of August. So 2 days from now.
