Funny they haven't included Illawarra teams or ACT teams this season, unless they come in at the amateur rounds.

Football Federation Australia will cover all travel costs of the competition as well as providing prizemoney, beginning at the round-of-16 stage, increasing exponentially up to the winner http://www.smh.com.au/sport/soccer/ffa-cup-allows-minnows-to-play-aleagues-stars-20140224-33d3x.html
At least one minor side is guaranteed to reach the semi-finals, with 10 games to be broadcast on Fox Sports and a modest prizemoney pool of $120,000 including $40,000 for the winning team http://www.foxsports.com.au/football/a-league/ffa-cup-set-to-take-the-aleagues-big-guns-to-australias-suburban-football-grounds/story-e6frf4gl-1226836351944

A better way of doing this would have been having the 9 Australian A-League seeded and then drawn against their local state league teams playing matches on their suburban grounds. Example Broadmeadow v Newcastle Jets, Bankstown v WSW etc
This would save costs in travelling/accomodation, and create income through attendances which can be shared 50/50

Quote:[size=8] NNSWF State Cup Southern Pool Kicks Off With Charity Round[/size] Northern NSW Football’s (NNSWF) state-wide knockout competition, the State Cup, will commence its Southern Pool rounds this weekend with all matches raising funds for the regions Rescue Helicopter Service. The State Cup is open to all men’s NNSWF Premier Competition Clubs and Senior Zone Member Clubs. Now in its fifth year, the 2014 State Cup has attracted 77 teams from across Northern NSW competing in this year’s competition. In 2014 clubs from all divisions will once again be given the opportunity to test their ability in the cauldron of a knockout competition whilst competing for a prize purse totalling $10,000. The State Cup is also a qualifying tournament for the FFA Cup, in which the last two clubs in the State Cup will progress into the FFA Cup round of 32, pitted against top teams from other states as well as the opportunity to play against Hyundai A-League clubs. From 2015, the State Cup will cease to exist and be referred to in its entirety as the FFA Cup. The competition is divided into two pools, the Northern Pool and the Southern Pool, to determine Final Series participants. The Northern Pool will comprise of club teams from Football Mid North Coast, North Coast Football, Northern Inland Football and Football Far North Coast, with the last remaining four teams to participate in the Finals Series, representing the Northern Pool. The Southern Pool will be split into two sub-pools, the first comprising of National Premier League and New FM 1st Division club teams and the second comprising of club teams from Newcastle Football, Macquarie Football and Hunter Valley Football. From each of these two sub-pools, the last remaining two club teams will participate in the Finals Series, representing the Southern Pool. The Northern Pool has already commenced with the Southern Pool kicking off this weekend, with the Westpac Rescue Helicopter State Cup Charity Round. Round 1 will see 26 State Cup fixtures scheduled across two days at eight venues, with all funds raised from the weekend going to the Hunter Region Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service. ‘In previous years our fundraising activity for the Rescue Helicopter has been in conjunction with the launch of our men’s premier competition however this was a single match at one venue. In an effort to make a greater contribution to this worthwhile service in the Region, we have made the opening round of the Southern Pool of the State Cup a Charity Round and each of the 26 fixtures across the eight venues over the two days will serve as a fundraiser for the service,’ Northern NSW Football CEO David Eland said. ‘We are encouraging people to get out this weekend and see some exciting football, as well as make a contribution to this important community service in the Region.’ Hunter Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service General Manager Richard Jones said ‘We commend Northern NSW Football for this additional effort to secure valuable funds for our service and look forward to the continuing association between our two organisations.’ http://www.northernnswfootball.com.au/index.php?id=10&tx_ttnews[year]=2014&tx_ttnews[month]=02&tx_ttnews[tt_news]=3220&cHash=f486f00e9e53000924dcba5c959bab1d Interesting bit: "From 2015, the State Cup will cease to exist and be referred to in its entirety as the FFA Cup."

This is consistant with other reports that have claimed that all state cups will cease for the FFA Cup.

A few of this weekends games in Northern NSW have been postponed due to wet weather: http://www.northernnswfootball.com.au/index.php?id=10&tx_ttnews%5Byear%5D=2014&tx_ttnews%5Bmonth%5D=02&tx_ttnews%5Btt_news%5D=3222&cHash=7adb73e0470bc234e677d056094f4076I sent an email to Football Queensland asking about results for games that were supposed to be played last weekend. Apparently an update (results and fixtures) will be released later today. I've also added a couple of games in South West Queensland:
