Lol. Can't wait for GCU and NQF to join the league. What do you think of the three Brazilians that Gold Coast have signed?

Pretty impressed really..the Striker sound amazing :) Hope we can get Culina or Sterjovski though.. A few more defenders wouldn't go astray either..

Yeah, would be good to see them in the A-League. I reckon they've both got another two or three years in europe left in them though - especially Culina...

At least Sterjovski would get regular first team football, if he wants to play at the WC then he'll need it.

Morning y'all. Big MJ still endearing himself to yiddos everywhere :) Quote:JOL: VILLA ARE BETTER THAN GUNNERS
Hamburg boss Martin Jol got in a dig at his old rivals on Tuesday as he claimed Aston Villa "are better than Arsenal".
Jol will face Villa on Wednesday night in the UEFA Cup, and the ex-Tottenham manager is predicting a tough game against a team who leap-frogged the Gunners into fourth place in the Premier League at the weekend.
Both sides have already qualified for the next round of the competition but this final group game will determine the standings and seeding for the knockout draw, and Jol is not expecting Villa to take it lightly.
"The question is whether they will play with all their regulars," he said.
"The first-team of Aston Villa are better than Arsenal and, next season, Villa will be playing in the Champions League.
"They have a very clever manager and I cannot imagine him not wanting first spot.
"Villa are perhaps one of the best teams in England."
Hamburg's director of sport Dietmar Beiersdorfer added that beating such a strong side as Villa would do his club the world of good.
"We desperately want to win this game," he said.
"It would be good for HSV's reputation on the European stage."
Jol should recall defender Guy Demel to his defence after he was suspended in the Bundesliga at the weekend while there is a doubt over the fitness of David Jarolim, who has taken a knock to his knee.
This is Hamburg's last game of 2008 before they break for almost seven weeks.
A 1-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday ensured they will spend the winter break lying in fourth position in the Bundesliga, just two points behind leaders Hoffenheim and Bayern Munich. At the moment is true too.

If we cared what he had to say, or he actually knew what he was talking about, he'd still be at Tottenham.

Quote:At the moment is true too. The league table says otherwise. On form perhaps. But form is temporary, class is permanent. Can spurs turn 'form' into 'class'?? Quote:we all know he went well at Spurs. If he did that well at spurs, why is he coaching Hamburg?? :-"

The league table doesn't say otherwise, Villa are in 4th and Le Arse in 5th. Quote:If he did that well at spurs, why is he coaching Hamburg?? Because he was sacked? If you've deluded yourself into thinking he's a shit coach after taking Spurs to 5th place in consecutive seasons then you should probably seek councelling.

Quote:This week it doesn't say otherwise... Aston Villa are higher in the league table and have played better than Arsenal consistently this season. They are better at the moment. You're working on the assumption that all managers who get sacked are bad ones? In that case, Rijkaard, Capello, Schuster, Eriksson et all aren't good managers. You're entitled to your opinion of course, but Hamburg are coming fourth with an average squad in Germany, and he took nothing more than a decent Spurs squad to their highest ever position in consecutive seasons in the prem. Why don't you rate him?

Why don't you rate him? It's a chronic Liverpool problem. When they see a shit manager like Rafa keep his job, they instinctively rate anyone who DOES get fired, as being even shitter.:p

Haha, Munky, quality.
No doubt Jol is a quality coach and was good for Spurs. I spose we just got too ambitious with our expectations of him?

I have nothing against these Manager's, but, result's speak for themselve's, if they were winning, they'd still be at their respective club's... Edited by CharliePantou: 17/12/2008 09:07:08 PM This. Pretty much comes down to Levy jumping the gun, assuming the natural progression with the same squad was 4th. When we didn't start well last season (it was only last season  ) I think Levy panicked. Thanks to that we're back to were we were before Jol, albeit with 'Arry now.

Why don't you rate him? Again, I never said he was a bad manager. I just said he wasn't good/ Rijkaard: sacked because his results weren't good enough. He spent millions but couldn't retain the title with one of the best squads going. Capello: Sacked by real madrid possibly unfairly, but the football they were playing was CRAP. Schuster: Again, Real Madrid board, what can you do?? Eriksson: The results spoke for themselves, he spent a lot of money and finished 9th, obviously not a good showing all things considered. Jarolim, Trochowski, Olic, Guerrero, Mathijsen, De Jong and Rost aren't exactly shit players either...
