Both Gallop and Foxtel say 4 round of 32 matches to be shown. Guardian stuffed it up in their article.

New coach sits it out to have a close look at his Bombers
(21st February 2015 6:00 AM)

PLAYED now or played later, new coach Brady Parker will be off the field whenever Boambee headlines the first official matches of the North Coast Football season.

Weather will govern whether today's opening round of the Westfield FFA Cup proceeds with Boambee drawn to play Woolgoolga United at 3pm, followed two hours later by Coffs United and Northern Storm.

Ayrshire Park was decided as the venue but if washed out, under the rules the round must be re-scheduled and played within 14 days.

AT THE HELM: Star coaching recruit Brady Parker won’t pull on his Boambee playing boots for a few weeks yet.
"Whatever happens, today or if we have to play on another day, I doubt if I'll spend any time on the pitch," Parker said.

"While training and the build-up to the season has been good, I still want to have a look at our structure and how the regular faces and new players have integrated.

"Also there are some new methods I want to try out and it'll be better to see all that from the sideline."

Grand finalists in 2014, Parker believes the Bombers are ready to take that higher step and this could be the season.

Last year, Boambee turned in arguably the best individual team display of any match played within the zone by smashing New Lambton Eagles 2-0 in a quarter final of the NNSW State Cup.

That near-perfect effort was achieved by a powerful in-their faces style that in later outings proved hard to replicate and Parker is adamant similar tactics are unlikely.

"I remember that game when we pressed hard right from the start but when you try that style too often, it can leave you short and vulnerable later in the day when tiredness creeps in," he said.

"At least for the beginning of the year, we'll approach the game in stages and only press hard when conditions are right.

"In fact, we're still got a bit of time to decide an actual style and the early matches will help."

There's another important question Boambee's new boss must be asked.

Will his hugely-talented brother, Wade, shelve plans for retirement?

"He's probably an 80/20 chance at the moment and I feel if I hadn't taken over coaching, he would have put the boots away for sure," brother Brady remarked.

"I reckon he will play as it's pretty unique for family to be playing together at this level for so long and family is the atmosphere we've created at our club." Urunga FC has a bye today with two more matches to be played on February 28.

Westfield FFA Cup preliminary rounds drawn

Following yesterday's National Westfield FFA Cup Launch, Football Federation Tasmania drew the Westfield FFA Cup Preliminary Rounds for Tasmania (Lakoseljac Round of 16 + 2 x Qualifiers) today.

The eight PS4 Victory League clubs and the Southern and Northern Champions were seeded straight into the Round of 16, with all other teams entering the competition involved in the qualification game draw.

The Milan Lakoseljac Cup forms the preliminary rounds of the Westfield FFA Cup in Tasmania, his son Brendan Lakoseljac was present today to assist with the draw.

Highlights of the the draw

Last year's Tasmanian representatives and Lakoseljac Cup Champions South Hobart start their defence with a difficult tie, taking on fellow PS4 Victory League outfit, Devonport City Strikers at Darcy Street.

Last season's Southern and Northern Champions will face the cellar dwellers of last year's Victory League, with University playing Glenorchy Knights and Launceston City hosting northwest powerhouse Somerset.

The draw also features a mouth-watering Eastern Shore Derby between bitter foes Olympia FC Warriors and Clarence United at Warrior Park

Joyce earns stripes as Tigers coach
Matthew Elkerton (22nd February 2015 9:06 AM)

Westlawn Tigers premier league coach James Joyce.
FOR those accustomed to manager mode on football video games, executing set-plays that you invent pre-match is a virtual reality.

But this is about to become reality for new Westlawn Tigers coach James Joyce.

A proven leader in the past for the Tigers squad, Joyce was a clear favourite when it came to acquiring a new coach at the end of last season. However, he will have you believe he was "just the one guy who couldn't run away fast enough".

"We advertised for the coaching role at the end of last season," Joyce said. "And I was the name that came up for the role. It's going to be a situation where I'm playing as a sort of player manager but I will not be the captain of the team.

"It isn't my preference really but I guess after being involved with the game for so long, coaching was just a part of my natural progression.

"It will be a challenge. A lot of that is juggling it around everything else in life. Being involved in soccer is second nature to me; I've been doing it for over 25 years now. Last year I coached the under-16s side to a grand final victory."

Joyce's first real challenge as coach begins in the first round of preliminary matches for the FFA Cup when the Tigers take on Nambucca Strikers FC on Saturday, February 28.

This season will be a bit of a challenge for Joyce as he brings a younger squad than most to the FFA Cup with a lot of boys who will thrive from the bigger, faster game experience.

"It is a bit of a different situation this year from last year," Joyce said. "A few of our premier players are no longer playing this year which gives a lot of the younger guys a great opportunity to play for the top team.

"We will be fielding a very youthful squad this season with only three players over 20.

Ideally we would like to have a few older heads guiding the young guys around the park but unfortunately we won't have that. We have an issue that we lose players once they hit that 18-19 age range and move off for university.

"The young guys that we do have are a great bunch of players and we have a great focus on team unity and playing for each other. We just need to work on that commitment to effort."

"The speed and strength of the senior game is much different and once you're in seniors there are no longer easy passages on the field. Once you lose the ball you need to put in the effort to get it back.

"So it is just that mental aspect and that commitment that we are working on most with the boys."

Seniors train on Tuesday and Thursday nights at Barnier Park from 6pm to 7.30pm. The 2015 season kicks off Friday, March 27 for Under 15 and 16, while all other grades kick off on Saturday, March 28.

No cup run for me, knocked out in first round yesterday :(

We had a man sent off in the first 10 minutes, a scrap broke out and he claimed a guy spat on him so threw, and connected with, a huge punch. Sent off, both coaches sent off. The magic of the cup

I feel for Dudley here. They were an all-age team last year that decided to step up to seniors. Mayfield are 3 or 4 leagues above them, and are arguably the best side in their division.

Great to hear about Hunter Simba. I've played officially with a few of the boys, and with&against the majority of them in street soccer, and they're all fantastic players and really good guys to go along with.
