soooo Sydney United 58 should be in the FFA CUP last 32.... but stranger things have happened. lol.

The draw for NSW means there will be one qualifier from each of the pots below. It also means that, at most, only three of last year's seven Round of 32 participants can qualify this year.

Pot 1:
- Hawkesbury City
- Western NSW Mariners
- Balmain Tigers
- Bankstown City (highest ranked)

Pot 2:
- Manly United
- Sydney Olympic
- South Coast Wolves
- Wagga City Wanderers
- Yagoona Lions

Pot 3:
- Sydney United (shouldn't have any problems)
- Hurstville City Minotaurs
- Northbridge
- Dapto Dandaloo Fury
- Prospect United
- Kenthurst & District

Pot 4:
- Sydney University
- Rockdale City Sunds
- Sutherland Sharks
- Wollongong United

Pot 5:
- Northern Tigers
- Macarthur Rams
- Nepean
- Blacktown Spartans
- Blacktown City

No. 5 go through, one from each pot, but because of the way they've worked out only a maximum of 3 of the 7 NSW teams that made the Ro32 last year can make it this year.

does the waratah cup still exist or is it starched because of the FFA Cup qualifications?

I think so. Although it's played down a lot more in favour of the FFA Cup. You're still competing for the Waratah Cup, just under the guise of the FFA Cup. The state based qualification for the FFA Cup is a cup in it's own right. Pretty sure they still compete for the Dockerty Cup in Victoria.

The four Victorian qualifiers for the FFA Cup definitely do play off for the Dockerty Cup.

One thing, the wiki page for the Dockerty Cup is insisting that the cup only now consists of those four teams playing off, and the rest is considered the FFA Cup, but I've seen it referred to as both, as they are obviously both running in parallel. I think I might change it.

Sam Munro, Alvin Ceccoli, Wade Ostendoorp, shane lyons...

seems like a few players that have fallen from grace....

these players mentioned either at one point in their career, played in the hal, or hal youth team, and in NSW premier league.

Munro was at Rockdale last season. Has he gone back?

They signed Timpano, Zucco and one other play from South Coast.

Dapto pay well from what I hear.

Munro must of went back judging by there recent FB photos.

seems like they have a lot of slow aging players, but one thing they do have is experience.

if they do happen to beat northbridge and then Hurstville, we will play them at there home ground, that is one advantage they have.

Not so sure about that, if you look at the way the draw has been set up the 7th round has 5 playoff legs for qualification to the round of 32. How do you go from 5 legs and continue the Waratah Cup?

The luck of the draw plays such a big part, bentleigh come unstuck over in Ballarat whilst my boys enjoy an 8-0 training run against sub standard opposition, last yr it was bentleigh getting the easy beats and the rest copping it, it actually embarasses me that south springvale qualified last year and I hope we can get them next to give them a hiding as well, knowing our luck we will probably draw melb knights and get turfed again:lol:

 posted this yesterday, ffv not even hiding the fact that they rig the draw. 2 years in a row south v knights seems a bit suss, especially when no other all npl clashes have been drawn. In all likelihood both teams will miss out now.

The draw for NSW means there will be one qualifier from each of the pots below. It also means that, at most, only three of last year's seven Round of 32 participants can qualify this year.

Pot 1:
- Hawkesbury City
- Western NSW Mariners
- Balmain Tigers
- Bankstown City (highest ranked)

Pot 2:
- Manly United
- Sydney Olympic
- South Coast Wolves
- Wagga City Wanderers
- Yagoona Lions

Pot 3:
- Sydney United (shouldn't have any problems)
- Hurstville City Minotaurs
- Northbridge
- Dapto Dandaloo Fury
- Prospect United
- Kenthurst & District

Pot 4:
- Sydney University
- Rockdale City Sunds
- Sutherland Sharks
- Wollongong United

Pot 5:
- Northern Tigers
- Macarthur Rams
- Nepean
- Blacktown Spartans
- Blacktown City

Are they the groups? Or are the groups drawn from those pots??

Is it also each group plays each other once, or is it a home and away scscenario?

That's a strong Bentleigh side as well, Ballarat have done very well to get through that. Really hoping they make it to the national stage this time.

Can anyone tell me how Thurtell is going in the NPLV? Guy was a gun for the Strikers up here.

It looks like it's just a list of teams in each section of the draw. So if you look at the qualifying spot and work backwards you will see all the teams that are still alive in the cup for that spot.

From a Sydney perspective, i was having a conversation about the best stadiums to host an A-league team.

Seeing Sydney United's ground packed last year was awesome so here is my list of grounds that i think would look great:
Of the remaining teams
- Balmain would be interesting if they could get Liechhardt Oval for a bigger game but Lambert park would be fine
- Bankstown would look great at a full Jensen park
- Manly at Cromer park
- Olympic at Belmore if the Bulldogs don't have a stretching or video session on that night
- Wolves have proven what they are capable of at WIN
- Sydney United, like Wollomgong, showed what they are capable of
- Sutherland at Seymour Shaw
- Macarthur at Lynwood has hosted top teams before - Hopefully not moved to Campbelltown though
- WSW returning to Cook Pk to play Nepean would be nice
- Blacktown City at Lily's might bring some of the older NSL nostalgia

Of the teams that didn't make it:
I would really liked to have seen a match a Marconi stadium (even though they removed the seating it's a nice ground).
Lambert Pk and Melita stadium got games last year but higher profile opponents would have been great.
Arlington Oval is one of the best looking grounds in NSW. Shame that Dulwich Hill or Stanmore couldn't make a better fist of it.
Bonnyrigg's ground also looks good when packed to capacity.
Special shout out to St George stadium - The way the grandstand looked when i was last there a few years ago filled me with sadness. It probably won't be done but i hope that the venue can somehow be rejuvenated. A FFA cup derby against Sydney or WSW might generate the funds needed to make a start.

Would be interested to hear about some of the grounds in other states that would generate an amazing atmosphere when at capacity

Could have been written as
(Hawkesbury City vs Western Mariners) vs (Balmain Tigers vs Bankstown City)
(Manly vs Olympic) vs (Wolves vs (Wagga City vs Yagoona)
(Prospect vs Kenthurst) vs ((Hurstville City vs (Northbridge vs Dapto)) vs Sydney United)
(Sydney Uni vs Rockdale) vs ( Sutherland vs Wollongong Utd)
((Blacktown Spartans vs Blacktown City) vs Nepean) vs (northern tigers vs MacArthur Rams)
The winner from each line qualifies for FFA Cup final 32.

Lynwood too small for the rbb, who will turn up. Other supporters (including the cove) won't bother turning up in numbers to make a difference. Not that I see rams beating the blacktown - nepean team

Depeding on who they drew, Sutherland would probably move a game against Sydney/West Sydney to Shark Park. It's only down the road, too. Macarthur would more than likely play against an A-League team, especially a NSW team at Campbelltown Stadium. They usually draw a decent pre-season crowd down there. The rest I agree with you on. I have no idea about where Balmain would play. Obviously Wentworth Oval in Glebe isn't good enough despite them hosting night dog racing there - although I think the lighting is suitable for the track, it doesn't stretch out onto the field. They'd have to bring in floodlighting. They'd probably move it to Lambert Park - Balmain did play a season or two there I believe. Leichhardt Oval would be tops, but I don't see it happening.

WOLLONGONG WOLVES FOR A-LEAGUE EXPANSION!
