Edited by sydneycroatia58: 21/4/2015 09:24:28 AM Scheduled for Valentine Park tomorrow night according to Dapto's FB page. Is it an artificial pitch over there? If they had any sense they'd be rescheduling the match to United or Blacktown if not. Even Northbridge's ground is artificial, no?

It is, but knowing this weather, you may as well cancel the football and host a waterpolo match. That's essentially football in water anyway. ;)

Forecast for the rest of the week in Sydney is rain, rain, rain, wind, wind, wind, more rain, and more wind. Would be very surprised if there's any football played this week at all in any competition.

United's match scheduled for the 29th of April is already pushed back a week, because of the catch up games.

So if you hadn't heard, The Borroloola Cyclones had their boots and most of their equipment stolen from their home ground by a bunch of heartless thieves last week. Luckily there's a happy ending to that story. Umbro has stepped in and replaced everything, for free. Quote:Umbro comes to rescue of bootless Cyclones image: http://www.theffacup.com.au/di/library/FFA_Cup/e/69/borroloola-cyclones_1h3y6t9ptcyqv1r8owjlzlf4d8.jpg?t=-629739876Borroloola Cyclones 1/1 The Borroloola Cyclones and the boots have both arrived in Darwin ahead of their historic Westfield FFA Cup match against Hellenic AC. Tuesday, 21 April 2015 - staff writers Comments Less than a fortnight out from their long awaited historic Westfield FFA Cup match against Hellenic AC, the Borroloola Cyclones were confronted by a serious predicament. The players from the remote Northern Territory community were facing the prospect of heading into their historic encounter against Hellenic AC without any boots after 20 pairs were stolen from the clubhouse. Few players in the Cyclones side own their own boots and the club has been lucky enough to have several pairs donated to us over the years and stored in our football shed down by the school oval. Each session the players get down to the ground a little early to find a pair of boots that fit (or barely fit), lace them up and then start training. “We had a break in at the Cyclones shed the other night and the majority of the senior boots were stolen,” Football Federation Northern Territory (FFNT) Program Manager Josh Smith explained. “This left the Cyclones with literally no boots to play or train in for our upcoming match in Darwin.” “The reality of it is that the club does not get enough sponsorship money each year to replace this gear as the cost of travel to each tournament is in the thousands.” The club’s coach Mark Wakeling alerted FFNT who launched an appeal to try and ensure the Cyclones had boots to play in. Enter Umbro. Informed of the situation, Umbro promptly arranged for 20 pairs of new boots to be sent to the Top End. Now the Cyclones will have boots to play in as they make the 15 hour bus ride to the Northern Territory capital to play in the Westfield FFA Cup under the big lights of Darwin Football Stadium. Furthermore, the South Australian football community, especially Port Adelaide Pirates, has also rallied together to donate boots to the remote community. The small community of Borroloola is known as the heart of indigenous football and the Cyclones will be the first all Indigenous side to play in the Westfield FFA Cup. The Borroloola Cyclones will take to the field against Hellenic AC tomorrow (Wednesday) night. BORROOLOLA Cyclones admit they have it all to do in their historic-making FFA Cup match against Hellenic at the Darwin Football Stadium tonight. The Cyclones, the first all-indigenous team to take part in the national competition, arrived in the Top End yesterday morning and immediately headed to the venue where it all will happen for a light training session. The squad also got to meet up with the boots they will wear in the cup-tie. A week ago all of their playing footwear were stolen from their storage unit at the Booroolola High School but thanks to some generous donations the Cyclones’ plans are back on track. Despite all the gifts, including free flights and a courtesy mini bus, manager Josh Smith admits his team will start as underdogs. “But we will not be overawed,” Smith said. Coach Mark Wakeling also admitted it would be a tough contest. “It will be the first time the squad has got together since the Palmerston competition last September,” Wakeling said. “It has been a hard job getting the boys here. “Some are working in the mines, some are in difference communities.” Captain and defensive midfielder Alister Evans said it was an opportunity to put their community on the World Game map. “I think we can match it with Hellenic. Some of the boys are skilful and can defend well,” said Evans, whose round-ball experience includes playing for the NT side at Adelaide’s Hindmarsh Stadium six years ago. The Cyclones have also bolstered their ranks with some talented imports. Former Sydney FC youth player Keifer Dotti, the son of former Cronulla Sharks star Phillip Dotti, will play for the club. Goalkeeper Daniel Campos has also played at a higher level while tall Dutch striker Janeck Jansen, who has worked at the Borroolola petrol service station for the past six months, could be a handful for the Hellenic defence. The experienced Mathew Robinson and Kynan Barnes could also test the Darwin team’s backline. http://www.ntnews.com.au/sport/cyclones-gear-up-for-historic-ffa-cup-clash-against-darwin-heavyweights-hellenic/story-fnk0b28u-1227314303253

They're an IPL side captained by Alvin Ceccoli up against an undefeated SL1 side. I wouldnt call it a huge upset.

Northbridge have a surprisingly strong team, and have a strong youth set up. They're also now affiliated with the Mariners. They've got pretty good facilities down at Northbridge Oval overlooking Northbridge Golf Course.

Now known as North Shore Mariners currently 1st in SL1. Sound squad of hard workers, couple of good strikers, a few pommys. Northbridge gained funding some years ago having a synthetic pitch nowadays, great ground and surroundings but crap for spectators, no seating and can't carry a crowd more than 500.
