Very good first half obviously, but they will come out stronger now so we have to be careful.

With Flamini and Coquelin in the middle together I think the new game plan for them is to kick Dele Alli's leg into the stand.

Before kick off I'd have taken a draw.
After 70 minutes it felt like 2 points lost. Walker was a beast for every moment in the game except for their goal where he allowed the ball to get over him and lost Gibbs. The Boss should have saved that one too :(
For everyone bagging Harry Kane for being a one season wonder, east a giant bag of dicks also :)

Walker and Super Jan were great, Alderweireld was sensational (MOTM for me), Rose looked like our weak link but played a great ball for the goal. Dier was good once again, and the boy Alli made the Arsenal midfielders look like amateurs at times (if someone could gif him taking flamini and coquelin for a ride that would be great). Lamela was hot and cold, needs to get in the gym, Eriksen pulled out one of his best games in a big game so far, think only the united games at OT top it. Dembele was superb again and Kane was well, Harry Kane!

His ball retention has improved drastically! For me the weak link was defending crosses into the box. Harsh on Walker, but the goal was partly his fault.

Watched the game back and I was a bit harsh on Erik, was great going back but still think there a few times he should have done better going forward.

He's still coming on in leaps and bounds and adapting to the game. It's going to be hard to drop someone with Son coming back in. I also feel bad for Ryan Mason who's be frozen out simply due to Dembele and Alli absolutely killing it.
I also saw a link for us trying to sign Mousa Dembele from Fulham. Another one

Also still got Nacer and Bentaleb to come into the team which gives us good competition. We can't get too ahead of ourselves, but it is refreshing to see people like Paul fucking Merson say we will finish 3rd and that Claude bloke say we are in with a shot of the title. Now watch us lose to West Ham next week.

It's hard to see Bentley knocking Dier or Alli out of the team. As for Chadli, the hard part is he's often on hand to score goals but can go missing for 75 mins of a game. He also has a man bun....

Performance of the season. 4 points off the summit with a schedule that looks promising after the Rent Boys next week..
Also Harry Kane..... one season wonder alright. That's 8 goals in 5 games.

Brilliant performance, but next week will be tough. Chelsea will be feeling a comeback after beating Norwich, if we win we go 13 points clear of them which is surely too far for them to catch up. We also don't play one of Chelsea, City, Arsenal, Liverpool or United until February 13 so if we can keep our good form going until then then we should be pretty sweet.
Guessing Lamela will come back in with Alli's suspension (which was very silly by the way, showed his inexperience), squad basically picks itself as:
Lloris Walker-Toby-Jan-Rose Dier-Dembele Lamela-Eriksen-Son Kane
Have we ever had a squad with such a strong spine and so balanced? Crazy to think what this time could be by the time we get our new stadium if we keep them together. Also more rumours are circulating about Pato coming in January for 11m, not sure what to make for it but I hope we get him TBH (despite being negative on him in August) because I just want us to eliminate the possible ways we could fuck up

9 goals in 6 games #oneseasonwonder
Think a previous Spurs team wouldn't have won that, they parked the bus and were extremely solid defensively, and they have a fantastic home record in Europe. I was actually very impressed by them.

Only 1 loss this season spurs but its the 8 draws are keeping you in 5th for the time being.
You've looked very strong and creative in the midfield from the few games i've seen but aren't getting many clear cut chances for Kane or your other strikers consistently. What do you think the problem is?
Otherwise you look like you could be title challengers

Edited by tbitm: 6/12/2015 04:08:25 AM We seem to struggle when teams just defend against us and then come at us with pace on the counter. I also think that when we break we have to slow it down too much because our team, despite being very fit, doesn't posses a lot of raw speed from the midfielders or forwards in the way that we have in the past with Lennon and Bale etc. Overall I have been thrilled with how we have done this season but think we need Eriksen to step up a bit as our most creative player to help us pick the holes in sturdy defences.

Too many draws this season so far - but in saying that, they could have been games we could have won.
Compared to this time last season, we have lost 2 games, compared to 6. We have only conceded 14 goals, compared to 23. And we have scored 6 more goals as well.
The thing that I am most happy about, is the fact that we have only conceded 14 goals in 17 games. Previous years we have struggled to keep clean sheets consistently, and I feel that has always been our downfall. We have always been capable of scoring, that has never been an issue - the other end of the pitch has been the problem.
14/15 after 17 games - 23 goals conceded 13/14 after 17 games - 23 goals conceded 12/13 after 17 games - 25 goals conceded And so on..
I'd like to get other peoples thoughts too - but my thoughts on the difference with our defence this season comes down to 3 main points - Poch's requirement for hard work off of the ball. Last season it was evident, but I feel with a few key additions this has come along more so this season. We defend together, hard, and tirelessly. - Lloris being made captain. Our best player. Our captain. A leader. Simple. - Addition of Alderweireld to the squad. His partnership with Jan is coming along very nicely, and they (whether it be the Belgian connection or something else) just understand each other, and know how they play (as they have played together at Ajax). That, and the decision to move Dier into DM. He has been IMMENSE in there. Obviously he is still so young, and has a lot of work to put in, to get even better, but his tackling and interception ability are ridiculous for someone of his age.

For me it is mainly the last point, last year we were relying on our defence to do the defending, with the midfield pushing up high. This was never going to work when you've got Walker and Rose pushing up the field every couple of minutes, especially when you are relying solely on Jan as Fazio is a waste of space. Toby and Jan have a great partnership together and the fact that Jan feels he is playing in a better team invigorates him and improves him further. Dier then sits in front and adds some steel in the middle and Dembele almost NEVER loses the ball, meaning that there is less opportunity for us to be countered.
We are also a lot better at keeping the ball in tight areas, with Dembele being a freak this season as I said and Alli showing composure far above his years. I think a big part of it is also that Poch has now been able to mould his squad and get rid of a lot of bad eggs, likes of Adebayor, Paulinho etc. I am enjoying watching this crop of youngsters more than I've ever enjoyed watching a Spurs side before. Next season will be our last at the current version at the Lane, so hopefully we can be playing Champions League football!
Welcome to the forum :)

Thanks for the welcoming :)
I agree 100% with you - specifically getting rid of the bad eggs in Ade and Paulinho etc. Poch needed time to bring in some youth and some players that he wanted, which he has done, and has worked wonders. Again, like you said, this is the season I have enjoyed most so far, out of any season and team. Now to just sign 1 of the many strikers we are being linked with to help ol' mate Kane up top. Last one I have heard, is Negredo. But I would love to Laurent Depoitre come in from Gent. Solid finisher, holds the ball up well and is yet another Belgian :D

Awesome Boxing Day day for us. Us and City only teams in top 7 to get a win.
Watford on Monday though will be a huge test. Will probably see Rose, Carroll, Son and Chadli start due to the fixture list. I'd go with:
Hugo Walker-Toby-Jan-Rose Dier-Bentaleb/Carroll Son-Dembele-Chadli Kane
