Shanghai SIPG was named as Shanghai East Asia, the club was founded and owns by former Chinese international football coach Xu Genbao, the club mostly consists of graduates from Genbao Football Base, a football academy founded by Xu. and the club is famouse for their youth development.

after 2014 CSL, the sponsor Group of the team took over the club from Xu Genbao,and renames the club as Shanghai SIPG."SIPG" is the abbreviation of the new owner, "Shanghai International Port (Group)". the club had announced a season budget of 500 million RMB, that is 81.5 million USD, that means they are the sixth club to join the "500 million club" (clubs who's season budget are more than 500 million RMB) of CSL, other five clubs are Guangzhou Evergrande Taobao, Beijing Guo'an, Shandong Luneng Taishan, Guangzhou R&F and Shanghai Greenland Shenhua.

China announced its soccer reform and development plan,sets goal of hosting World Cup.

According to the plan, the Chinese Football Association will be a fully An independent legal, and The football management center, which is a governmental agency, will no longer exist

Regarding the C-League, based on the Currentlly CFA League Council and CSL management company, the New CSL Council and China League Council will be established, both will be separate legal entity, means the CFA will nolonger holds equity of the League, currenttly the CFA holds 36% of the stocks of the CSL company.

In regulations announced earlier, the League council had forbid club to relocate from their current province, and set up promotion/relegation between China League 2 and CAL, which is the 3rd level and the 4th level.

The Shares of football club will be open to Private shareholders and local government, currentlly it only opens to Government owned or private owned companies. encorages local governments invests football clubs with facilities and infrastructure, encorages clubs to use Neutral names instead of sponsor names.

The League will be expanded, in earlier plan announced by the CFA, The CSL will have 18 clubs in 2022, while China League 1 will expand to 20 clubs, China League 2 will expand to 24 clubs.

GL, is the league ever going to seriously push to get rid of company names in club names, or the owners have too much power? Is there much appetite for this amongst football fans in China, or people don't care?

for some teams, Company name is not a problem like Guoan, which had been named as Guo'an for more than 20 years and the club itself is a listed company, Clubs like Shenhua (Flower of Shanghai) Taishan (name of a mountain in Shandong province)Shenxin (means prosperous) are already using natual names.

But for those clubs who often change names, fans and local media are apparently want to get rid of company names

Interesting how some of those names are traditional and locally appropriate, so that makes sense, but I can see why fans would hate having artificial names like Thai Tobacco Monopoly FC, especially if they change from time to time with new shareholders coming on like with the now Guangzhuo Evergrande Taobao FC.

It's creeping into western countries a little now with the Red Bull named teams. I can't even imagine owners here trying to push names like Melbourne Metricon PFG FC or Western Sydney Primo Pirtek Topshop FC.
