Club Total 2015/16 (Total 14/15)
Adelaide United: 3,704 (9,505) (- 61.03 %) Brisbane Roar: - (12,113) (%) Central Coast Mariners: - (6,242) (%) Melbourne City: 5,255 (11,759) (- 55.31%) Melbourne Victory: 18,398 (24,200) (- 23.98 %) Newcastle Jets: 639 (10,003) (- 93.61 %) Perth Glory : 2,000 (6,298) (- 68.24 %) Sydney FC: - (11,510) (%) Wellington Phoenix: - (4,185) (%) Western Sydney Wanderers: 15,019 (18,706) (- 19.71%)
TOTAL: 48,702 (114,521) (- 57.47%)........ as of round 1 2014 membership count was: 97,252 (rd 1 2013 was 86,352)
So 66 days out from Rd 1 we're going to need to increasing by about 735 sign ups per day on average to be on par with the start of last season. Obviously a number of clubs are yet to announce their figures but interesting to note that this time last year we were already at 59k members and this thread was already 19 pages deep.
Once all the clubs start to relay their figures we'll get a better picture but all in all we're probably tracking about even if we assume all the clubs that haven't yet disclosed their numbers probably tally up to about 10-15k.

The impact of David Villa's signing last year to Melbourne City is clearly being shown with the 6000+ difference in membership compared to this year

Edited by Davo1985: 3/8/2015 04:39:32 PM One of the things i notice is different is we dont appear to have any of those 5 game membership packages any more. I know SFC and BR were selling them and im sure a few others where. But they seem to be gone. i know some will critize those kind of memberships but in the end they are no different to what the other codes were offering so, and i though it was a good way to introduce some of the bystanders to get involved.

WOuldn't be surprised if some clubs introduce the 5 match membership packages a lil later on. They probably want to get an idea how many will commit to full a season. They will probably email their discounted offer to their subscriber list just before the season starts. Standard marketing practice.

I'm expecting the only big movers on last season to be Victory and Adelaide. The Reds should reach 10k at least and we should be aiming for 30k
I reckon all other clubs will have similar numbers, maybe City will jump up slightly.
Of course if the Wanderers membership wasn't capped and they had a bigger stadium they'd probably have more too.

Stadium capacities are starting to become a real issue for these 2 clubs. The growth of the biggest 2 clubs in the league are being heavily restricted.

If you remember correctly you guys had a good season and we had a shocker, and don't forget the important derbies played at your ground that pump up you season average to 18k thanks the travelling Wanderers fans. So no, we don't need to worry about selling out Pirtek Stadium week in week out.

We had one derby last year with 14 home games. If we normally were to avg 16,000 then with one game getting us 45k the diff is 29k. Now Divide 29k by 14 home games and you get an increase of 2k in avg. So with that we get our 18k avg. We only had a couple of games that actually helped us due to our larger capacity. For the rest we constantly got 15k - 20k which would have easily fit in Pirtek too. If you were avg 16k or more then you can claim that you have easily outgrown the stadium. Unfortunately that didn't happen for you last year. Sure you had a bad season, granted, but if the support is truly as strong as everyone is claiming then it should be close to 3/4 full every week no matter what. WSW members never had the option of re-selling tickets , only of forwarding them to other people (with no financial incentive). This means that a non-member would need to be in direct touch with a member to get a ticket whereas this year anyone can go online or rock up to the ground on the day.
As long as the membership is capped the stadium is too small as it means that non-members have to jump through hoops just to get a game whereas for other clubs a non-member can usually make a last-minute or snap decision to go to a game and not have to worry about getting a ticket.

If we had the option where you could have your ticket for a certain game sold and have a credit on your membership going into the new season then it would work but otherwise no one will go through the trouble to have their tickets sold with nothing in it for themselves. I actually find it really funny and sad at the same time that you are so hurt that you don't believe that we deserve a upgrade or new stadium because we only averaged 12.5k last season having come second last. There is nothing stopping Sydney FC crowds being upwards of 40k where as with us there is as the stadium is a 20k seater. So obviously with that in mind you don't have to be rocker scientist to know that the bigger crowd drawing games we would easily have went over the 30k mark which then would have lifted our average. Just curious do you also think Adelaide United don't deserve to have Hindmarsh lifted from 16k to 20k because they only averaged 12.6k last season and not the 16k total?

Apologies i was told tickets were able to be exchanged with non members. I assumed there would be a credit given to the member otherwise as you pointed out why would the member even bother. Seems like the initiative was pretty useless last year. Good to see they have it sorted for this season. I never said the stadiums shouldn't be upgraded. i just said that the stadiums aren't full to the brim and repeat of last season probably won't help the cause of upgrades if they are filling it at 60%. I just don't understand how out of 18.5k members more than a third weren't turning up to games. And if u consider that out of the avg from the 12k, 1 or 2k would have been walk ups and you're basically getting 50% of members showing. Were memberships that cheap that people preferred skipping 1/2 the games? Edited by Davo1985: 5/8/2015 10:42:45 PM

Unfortunately that didn't happen for you last year. Sure you had a bad season, granted, but if the support is truly as strong as everyone is claiming then it should be close to 3/4 full every week no matter what. Edited by Davo1985: 5/8/2015 06:14:29 PM We did not have that option last season and I'm a member myself. Don't go around making things up just to suit your own made up theory. Edited by Davo1985: 5/8/2015 10:42:45 PM There was roughly 18k members. We ended up with a average of 12.5k, considering how shit our season went both on and off the field it is pretty understandable. I just don't see why you don't think it's normal that roughly on average 5k members chose to stay home last season. Not to mention 5 games were also played midweek because of ACL or CWC commitments which would be a good enough excuse for the drop on top of some of the worst football being played in the A-League. My bad but I thought you meant we don't deserve the stadium upgrade which would be a stupid comment.
