Yeah that's a good point I think most of the boys from last year's squad are at the coe and the rest are either at HAL/npl clubs or overseas.

Ok, so we want to see some flair and confidence in taking the man on, good ball control, good passing and tackling. I would expect basic shape and drilled plays, like forward runs, cut backs and crosses, in a few different formulated ways. We should expect poor pressing, poor choice of pass and tempo and unreliable creativity in player movement and passing. Because you have to have the basics down pat and they would have only had 2 years developing creativity, movement and pressing. I would also like to see powerful heading and technical striking. (really watch some Bayer Munchin or Porto drills, both singular objectives and incorporating defence and attack which makes it more fun for defenders). Well this is what I would like to see at this age and would like our NC to be aiming for and believe that is what it wants to be. It creates a technical and tactical base, then the more advanced coaches can teach tactics and creativity how ever they like and realistically should be starting to at this age.

Since the FFA announced the appointment of Gombau to the u23 job as well as assisting with the u20 side.
Is there any news regarding squad announcements from the joeys or from the young socceroos?
I read on here the u16 side are going to play in the AFF Cup, i'm assuming it would be the same side?

The u16 should be leaving for Cambodia on the 5th. I believe that most if not all of the current COE boys will be going with a couple of new faces to make up the 23 man squad. The squad will be very different from the last lot that went to both Cambodia and Vietnam in 2015. Good luck to the boys that are going and lets hope we get the internet feed.

wouldn't the money be better spent playing some A Leaugue academies youth squads or something like that. This AFF thing is an FFA political ass kiss to keep the shite countries happy. Ego boost to young joey players results in nothing. The last joeys group, when tested at WC and against other quality teams, got flogged.

The qualifiers will be in Sept which then you would think this tournament gives the coaches a chance to see what everyone can do and then take the best squad possible to the qualifiers. There has been quite a few boys that have been looked at and monitored over the passed 12 months which IMO is great.

The fact that these boys are experiencing the travel, harsh conditions, different styles of play is fantastic. They still might play some HAL squads and currently play in the Canberra NPL seniors. BTW has any one you know been in a joeys squad and been OS? Ask them what they thought and if it was beneficial to their sons development?

That's the bloody problem with the Aussie national teams set up. Favouritism and bias rule supreme!

Not sure about this surely you should looking the very best players and not just select from the FFA COE, whom i have nothing against im sure they are talented within their own right but i'm surprised they did not the select the players that did really well last time.
