If there isn't already one...

With burger joints popping up like crazy...nominate your best burger and chip joints...
....AND NO MENTIONS OF MACCAS OR BURGER KING ALLOWED.

Grilld

Good sized Burgers...nice tasty meat patty. Bun is a bit tough. Flavoursome

Burger - 7/10
Chips 5/10

Marys @ Newtown

I heard about this place since the food reviewers say its good. Have to say I was disappointed.
Small burger size, small meat patty. It looks good but its not filling. I was still hungry after eating both chips and burger.
Overrated.

Burger 5 / 10
Chips 5 / 10

Pauls Hamburgers

I have to say its one of the better burgers I've had. Not as good as it used to be but the burgers are big and wholesome.
The works burger is a must. The chips are cooked to perfection too.

Burgers 8/10
Chips 9/10

Anyone who says Burgerfuel is above 2/10 needs a good old clip around the ear. Most overrated shit in the world.

Went to Well Co. in Glebe this morning after a flat out 4 hours of fucking last night's tinder find and epic 4 hour sleep. Refueled with a schmick BLT. Seriously 8.5/10 worthy. Almost blew my load again.

Just around western suburbs (f**k travelling when good ones are around here) my top 3 are 8bit (was 10/10, dipped a little lately to a 9/10), new york minute (know the bloke that started it, really happy its successful and expanding, 10/10) & st.burgs (rate better than 8bit)

The one in Newtown?

I've always walked into Burger Fuel to have a look, but a gut feeling always advised me to go against getting anything.

I'm so sick of grilld. They were pretty good when they started out in Hawthorn but I'm completely over them ever since they started becoming a chain (overpriced and a boring stale menu). There are now far better places around town now. Plus it feels like Brisbane only just discovered it in 2013.

Brisbane: Getta Burger in West End. A significant swing away from this Gourmet burger nonsense. These guys are where you go when you want a big dirty feed with the lad but want to pretend that you are too classy for Maccas. Big range of meat, long lines and big saucy bowls of chips.

Melbourne: Beer and Burger Bar on Swan St. Vuk fans know this is a Football match-day classic. Place is absolutely heaving by 5pm so recommend going before at the start of your day. Good rotation of craft beers on tap and a huge range of bottled beer from around the world. I highly recommend their game meat specials, I've tried both Kangaroo and Buffalo meat burgers and they were incredible. Get the onion rings instead of the chips. Sometimes they have it on catalogues.

Man i was coming in here to just say 8bit. That's it ... coming from geelong for victory games its a favorite little detour. 10 out of 10.

Temple brewery also do the midnight burger which is exceptional! Their food is better than their beer!

Theres places I havent mentioned where they probably spend more on the decor and the way the place is decked out rather than the quality of the food.
Give me a milk bar with that shitty 80s look any day of the week where the burgers/chips more than compensates.

A tasty burger and chips followed by a quality beer / milkshake to go with some live football is the best way to spend a day off.

Yeah I go down to Melbourne a few times a year and I'd say in general the food is better there. They're both great food cities though.

Sydney is gradually getting better but Melbourne is just streets ahead in terms of the cutting edge of food.

Lots of good places in Adelaide. If you're coming to a game at Hindmarsh there's a Nordburger about 10 minutes walk from there on Port Road which I rate.

My favourite is probably Bread and Bone in Peel St. =p~

Such a load of shit though. It's the same as the coffee wankery. There was even a scientific study about the sources of coffee that Sydney vs Melbourne gets. Despite popular belief and "calling it how it is", it is the exact opposite.

Not even dick measuring contest. I mean, this is hardly something that is even measurable, let alone "Oh, yeah, this one city 700km from the other in the same country is totally ahead of the cutting edge of food techniques" Give yourself an uppercut so I don't have to.

Even if Sydney cafes get their beans from the same sources as Melbourne cafes (and does that mean country of origin or the actual plantations?), that's only part of the process.

The top roasters in Melbourne travel to O/S farms directly and source the beans, then roast them in house, store them until ready to use, then it's up to the barista to get the settings right on the grind (and continue adjusting for different beans and different weather throughout the day) and to get the pour right. Not to mention deciding on what beans to use for different brewing methods.

But congratulations to Sydney for taking the first step=d> =d>

On to burgers and chips. ilm got it with Andrews Hamburgers for old-fashioned goodness. Easeys in Collingwood is pretty good and they have a cool set-up on the roof, plus you can book which is great.

Grill'd is full of wannabe American teenagers calling everyone dude. Huxtaburger used to be good but seem to have changed their patty recipe for the worse. Hollywood on Bridge Rd is great for a late night post-drink feed (open 24h).

Don't think I'll be in Footscray to try 8bit but am looking forward to their CBD store opening. What to order?

I do love me a tasty burger.

as far as Burger joints in Perth go. All the good ones I've had are down south, Margaret river way.

but in town I still rate Jus Burger the best out of the major chains.

Lately I've been making my own patties at home, theres some ripping recipes out there that don't take much skill to make.

Have to agree with Melbourn_terrace on Grilld, really over rated.

Will not hear a bad motherfucking word about Mary's in Newtown.

Been there twice, both times absolutely smashed off my chops. Their burgers are small, but motherfucking tasty! You got to get their fried chicken with it too, that stuff is the motherfucking bomb. They always serve it fresh out of the deep fryer, when it comes to you you're guaranteed to burn the ends of your fingers, but it's so tasty, it's worth it!!!!!

Also heard a lot of mixed reviews about Jack's in Newtown. Lot of people I've spoken too say it's brilliant, but it gets a beating on Zomato.

Best pub burger I've had in recent memory is the Glenmore Burger at the Glenmore Hotel in The Rocks. I nearly cried when I finished it, a) because I had no more and b) my mouth was in such a state of foodgasm it just couldn't comprehend reality any more.
