Quote:Victoria's top tier is establishing itself as the strongest soccer competition beneath the A-League, with another player set to make the transition. MV is exploring the possibility of signing Hume City attacker Jai Ingham for the rest of the season after he impressed in recent games against Kevin Muscat's side, including their gutsy FFA Cup Semi-final showing. Ingham, 22, has trained with Victory for three weeks and the football department is likely to use the new "mature-age" player rule, which would mean his wages are outside the cap.

Can't be, Marc Warren was only away from the A-League for a year, 18 months is the minimum for the Mature Age Rookie spot.

From the thread before: biscuitman1871 wrote:chillbilly wrote:biscuitman1871 wrote:To anyone who thinks the mature age rookie change is overwhelmingly positive, I have two words for you:
Marc Warren
He wouldn't qualify though. He was part of Sydney's squad within the 18 months. If anything it would be an incentive for a club like Perth to leave him in the state leagues that little bit longer before being stupid and signing him. Quote:This player must be over the age of 21, not played in a fully professional competition for the last 18 months Last played for Sydney on 18 January 2014 which was more than 18 months ago. I am confident that is why Glory have signed him on what will be no more than minimum wage. Diego Castro, Covic and the new centre forward won't arrive until 1 September so also saving 3 months worth of salary on each of them as well. Edited by biscuitman1871: 11/8/2015 03:45:21 PM

Biscuitman suspects glory were taking advantage of this. Can't be, Marc Warren was only away from the A-League for a year, 18 months is the minimum for the Mature Age Rookie spot. Whether or not he qualifies depends on how you read the rules, the exact wording when the FFA announced it said the players must not have "played in a fully professional competition for the last 18 months". So even though Marc Warren was contracted at Sydney up until mid-April 2014, he had played his last game in a professional competition in Jan 2014. If the date of the last time he played in a professional comp is the start of the 18 month period then he would be eligible but if the last date of being contracted to a professional club is used as the start of the 18 month period then he wouldn't qualify... Also, fwiw, I'd be really happy with this signing for MV. I thought Ingham was one of the most impressive players in the NPLV this year, and imo the best winger (better than Epifano, Ibrahim, Markelis etc.) so he could be really vital for the squad around ACL time if one of FBK or Kosta has to be omitted with the foreign player limits Edited by Cromulent: 14/12/2015 09:35:32 AM

What cap concessions would we get for re-signing our youth product Milos Lujic?

He'd be a decent signing. Anything is better than Connor Pain to be fair. Makes me wonder whether Kosta will be left out of the ACL squad though. Schroen should also be in the A League.

I've seen him play a few times for Brisbane Roar in the NPLQ. He's a good state league player but I don't think he's good enough to step up. The huge dispersion of talent in the NPL means he stands out at the level, especially in Queensland against some shite defending. Honestly, I would rather get Lujic as a back up to Berisha. Howard and Katebian need more time in the NPLV before they can really be serious options. Edited by melbourne_terrace: 14/12/2015 05:25:07 PM

-PB Not complaining about the depth. Katebian will get his chance, probably higher in the pecking order than Jai, but his performances in the NPLV this new season will justify that. Could have been good to get a CM instead considering recent events, if there even is one remotely good enough.
