Totally agree about religion. I'd love to be able to see 50/100 years into the future and see how religion affects society in that time.

So that's a bad thing?

You're OK with casual 'banter' that involves violence against a woman?

Again show me an example where a male journalist has been subject to the same 'banter'.

You're significantly overplaying the violent connotations, which is what the media is doing because shes female.

You won't be able to google male examples because they don't make the news.....

I'm not overplaying anything. You should learn to read.

I objected to you saying she 'hid' behind the fact she was a women. Which she never did. That was all I I wrote.

I never said you condoned what they said.

But while we are here are you going to answer the question or not? Are you OK with casual 'banter' that involves violence against a woman?

No I don't. I said as much in response to Glenn.

Why is there a difference between casual 'banter' against females and males?

Because you don't, despite your assertions, see the same 'banter' directed at male journalists.

Apart from the mass assaults on NYE the media here hasn't really reported any incidents involving migrants.

But there have been numerous sexual assaults on women and boys in Germany. They've had to close public pools at times because the Muslim men can't control themselves when they see a women in a bathing suit or boy in a speedo.

I was in Goppingen Germany in 2005 and the Turks used to go around in groups and beat up the local German kids. I was on school exchange and as a group of tourists and we were approached several times so they wouldn't let us walk around town without the German kids.

Anecdotal and I know it's easy to dismiss, but too many people are afraid of being called racists to accept the issues associated with these news migrants.

Agree about people being scared of being called a racist.

In today's PC society the word has lost all meaning. It's kinda scary the direction we are heading in terms of what is "offensive" and what is "racist" etc

There was a recent article in the courier mail titled

"Women evicted from club because of appearance"

An exclusive rooftop bar in Brisbane asked her to leave because she didn't meet the dress code. The article claims that this has caused outrage, which it clearly didn't according to the comments by users.

Because she was a women this was some how a reason to make this news worthy.

Had a man made the same complaint he would have been laughed off and told to get a grip.

If you can't see a problem with a high profile club president (well 2 actually) saying he would pay to watch a female journalist drown in the same week as their white ribbon game and that they launched the women's league than there's not much hope with regards to these issues.

Not exactly to do with this case, but I also don't understand why people always try and claim joking about violence against women has no effect on actual violence occurring, despite the majority of evidence showing it does.

The point being missed is that there is most definitely a "boys club" within AFL media circles, of which Eddie is protected species number 1.

Most female reporters "play nice" as a way of ingratiating themselves with the footy establishment. Caro is one of the few AFL reporters who actually does her job like a real reporter, instead of participating in the media circle jerk that exists between the AFL, clubs, club officials, and reporters.

She has developed enough of a profile that she doesn't have to ingratiate herself with the boys club.

So topics that other reporters "go soft" on, she actually does her job.

That is why she is so hated. Because she isn't ingratiated into the boys club, and therefore doesn't play nice like many other journos.

And a big reason why she isn't in the boys club is precisely because she is a woman.

I agree that there has been some over-the-top responses to the comments, but that is only if you look at the most recent comments in isolation.

When looked at in the broader context, and in particular with regards to how protected Eddie is, this incident has really just become the straw that broke the camels back.

Of course there wouldn't be the same reaction if Eddie said this to Brayshaw. But this entirely misses the context that this is one member of the boys club "having a larf" with another member.

When its directed at Caro its very clear what they are doing, precisely because of the circumstances I have listed above.

Don't forget, Eddie was host of the Footy Show when they dressed a mannequin up with Caro's head on it, and Sam beat it with a baseball bat.

saying that you want to hold someone's head under water isn't acceptable, especially while in the senior position eddy holds, and that should be the cause for concern, not because it was said about a women.

Why is it that female reporters and tv personalities can still make sexually suggestive comments about attractive males but men cant do it in return?

Being a women automatically adds validation to their cries of being victimized.

I agree with you that objectifying men the way some media do shouldn't be on, but that doesn't make what Eddie said any better. He also called her a black widow the next sentence so it's pretty obvious why gender got brought into this one. I mean when Wayne Carey was the voice of reason and immediately distanced himself from the others, it shows how far over the line the boys went.

Is there an issue with education among the Sudanese community in Dandenong and Caroline Springs? Why are members of their community going around violently jacking people's cars?

Can't quite put my finger on it.

Not according to Google Images...the first photo in the search "Carjacking" shows something that looks like a deleted scene from a Harry Potter movie:

Just saying over the last 5 years, carjackings have doubled and from reading the news most of these are coming from the Sudanese community.

Just wondering why...

There really needs to be a refugee integration task force established. Im sure there would be cries of recism if the government was to announce it however.

It simply needs to look at whether the refugees are integrating into society at an acceptable rate and whether crimes involving refugees are single incidents or part of a broader issue.

We have a enough criminal low lifes born and bread here we dont need to be importing them.

there is a suburb in brisbane where alot of african refugees have settled and it is a crime hotspot.

saying that you want to hold someone's head under water isn't acceptable, especially while in the senior position eddy holds, and that should be the cause for concern, not because it was said about a women.

Why is it that female reporters and tv personalities can still make sexually suggestive comments about attractive males but men cant do it in return?

Being a women automatically adds validation to their cries of being victimized.
Please show me the audio/transcript of Eddie saying he would hold her head under water.

Staying under/ holding down, whatever same end result

Same end result maybe but it is completely different. It was Frawley who said he would jump in and hold her under, this is murder. Whereas Eddie says he would pay extra money if she happened to accidentally drown. In this way Frawley's comments were far worse than Eddie's.

reason why eddie is gettinf hauled over the coals and spud isnt, is due to the fact eddie is the big fish. He has already had foot and mouth but for some reason he done it again, i guess you can take the boy out of broady, but can't take the broady out of the boy
