Nix's currently @ 319 members. That's 4700 less then last season but should go up in a few weeks.

Oh dear. Let's hope it picks up.

Part of that 14k was the fact that clubs hadn't released figures previously. For those clubs im now using whatever the A-league site puts up, even if they are usually a few days out of date.

Next week we'll get a better ideas as to how much the membership base is growing on a weekly basis. My guess is that it's growing at around 3k per week. I think we should get to around what we had last season at this rate. Yet to see the effect Cahill has and also whether the Roar will fix their issues in coming weeks.

I totally agree.

We bang on about small intimate grounds, and here we have the best field in the comp with a club that has just won the title and they are barely ahead where they were last year. Tells me that recruitment or lack thereof has caused many people to hold off. They desperately need to improve their squad and need a marquee player.

The mood in the various roar forums and a couple of get together this week is still confused, Cobb gone is seen as good but Bakries staying and planning for the long term is bad. I'd say we're heading for 2-2,500 max before the season kicks off

How long have Nix been on sale for? It's not a good showing when you're only just ahead of Roar at the moment

Yep, the non payment of the wages this month was the golden opportunity the FFA had to get the Roar problem solved. Looks like it'll drag on for another season, which given the positive vibes from elsewhere is a huge disappointment.

FFA really need to be thinking carefully here. They've gone all out on the Cahill fund in the hopes that it'll boost their broadcast value.

But having Brisbane's only team so volatile could undo all of that. Maybe they're watching and waiting. But this deal is going to have to be signed quite soon, so I hope they take action by then. In fact, if they're going to do anything about it, it'll have to be very soon, as they'll need time for the dust to settle.

Well put. The time for the FFA to fix Roar was this time last year when the club had a history of 15 months of late payments to players. As it was they were weak and impotent at the time and the probkem has resurfaced worse than before because now the fans feel the need to act and boycott and with 46 days to go I'm not optimistic we'll crack a crowd of ten thousand on opening night

The trouble was that (twelve months ago) FFA already had the Jets on their books and there is a rule somewhere that a football association cannot own 2 clubs in the same competition. Now that the Jets situation is sorted (or so we're led to believe) is the only time that they have been in a position to act.

As you've mentioned above, the cookies in the jar are still in short supply, so maybe they'll let the Bakrie's bank accounts support (cough, cough) the Roar another year before acting. What that does to the long term support and viability of the Roar is anyone's guess, but the prospects are certainly not good.

Not really. They have slowed down to less than 200 a week. Won't even surpass last year at this rate and now u don't have the excuse of capacity affecting memberships compared to last year.

Still great effort, but perhaps the fapping on how good you guys are at selling out Spotless might be given a rest now that your stadium cap is bigger.

Someone should have told FFA to put that spare $10m onto taking over the books at Roar. Oh wait they don't have a spare 10m... Now it makes more sense. Carry on.

2 x Sydney derbys at ANZ

There will be heaps of fapping in 2016-17 from us Wanderers fans, you better get use to it mate. :D  ;)

I'd say flat to down (slightly) unless there's a big improvement in marketing, by club:

Adelaide United: - same
Brisbane Roar: - down, fans are really unhappy at the moment
Central Coast Mariners: -same but only just
Melbourne City: - up, slightly
Melbourne Victory: - same
Newcastle Jets: -same
Perth Glory : up slightly
Sydney FC: down
Wellington Phoenix: same
Western Sydney Wanderers: up slightly

But if Victory and Wanderers knock it out of the park then all bets are off, numbers will rise; same with Roar if they do get new (and better) owners then they should rise to 9-10k but until nearer the season start I'd be very cautious on these numbers, its a tough economy as well

Hard to imagine Brisbane being less than last year. But I'm out of the loop there, so the unrest may just be that bad.

Perhaps the FFA will take them back before the season kicks off.

Not actually that close myself but various forums you read are not good reading, lots of disillusioned fans threatening not to renew in protest, even the new MD is getting flogged on the club web pages. if nothing changes I think membership will halve again, and if the FFA takes over it'll be just as bad - plenty of resentment towards the FFA's handling of a very poor situation for three years.

That's where Aussie Rules fans differ so much from football fans, they stick with their club/game no matter what. Far too much politics in football instead of putting the game first and foremost.

Yeah right, you can see the Brisbane Lions fans sticking by their club every home game lol

Rare exception to the rule. Essendon for example average over 30k despite barely having a team

They'll get close to Sydney this year.

Monday should see Victory hit 21k and WSW get up close to 17k

Newcastle always a club that impresses with their membership numbers.

Adelaide is the real disappointment.
