Just as well he wasn't betting on them being A-League champions. He would be crazy poor.

I think you'll get pretty god damn close though.

If Victory played in a stadium your size, their membership would be capped too. So the biggest question will be how big Parramatta Stadium will be. Last time I checked, the design was still up in the air. Unless you know ...?

Either way, if another team ever overtook Victory in memberships, that wouldn't be a loss for us at all. It'd be a huge win for the whole league and its growth.

I like it. Simple and clean. I'll take any ad. Even one ad is more publicity than we had last year.

i agree i think we should aim for their numbers, sydney fc should aim for our numbers and so on and so forth, credit to sydney fc for creating an ad i think all clubs should i think the ad needs more explosions though because explosions are awesome

also 18061

Agree. I really like the ad. To the point and i think it will hit the mark.
I heard Tony Pignata in an interview recently saying they are on track on hitting 15k members which would be a 2k increase from last year and that at present they are a few hundred agead from this time last year. And considering the aweful year we had, it would be quite an achievement.

To put it in perspective, seasons prior to ADP the membership base for the season sat at around 6k so they have made some great headway since those days. But again the proof will be in the pudding and whether that will.equate to larger crowds. No point being all afl like with membership bases around 50k and then attendances only being half that. Although tbh i would take 25k anyday of the week at the moment

Half of AFL's members are pets. Hard to smuggle them into the stadium, hehe ;)

Would be good to see memberships grow, especially in the capital cities. Melbourne alone is growing by 100k people a year. So there are plenty of new migrants coming here who can pick a team, and I imagine the same for Sydney. So IMO growth for the league is inevitable.

Good to have an ad.

It is clearly marketed at kids. They didn't even put a shirt on the mum. Personally I think they should have angled it that the parents want to take their kids, not the kid wants the parent to take them but it's their money.

Nah people keep on talking about how little kids have a say but that's bullshit. Advtertising toys and food to kids would have no logic otherwise. Do both, or kids and teenagers. Probably easier to get new kids to be interested and pester their parents and better for the long run than trying to change the mind of adults. Also target the kids to help convert those participation numbers. Make a high energy, high goal scoring ad and put it on in the mornings and after  school.

Would be very surprised if the Jerks got over, or near, 8k

He was a man of specific quirks. He believed that all meals should be earned through physical effort. He also contended, zealously like a drunk with a political point, that the third dimension would not be possible if it werent for the existence of water.

Nah, probably just an after effect of them not winning the Championship. Same thing happened to WSW.

It'll boost our memberships, but more so general admin tickets. I'm expecting us to now eclipse our average AAMI Park attendance this season.

A bit of a slow down this past week by only growing by 2k whereas previously we pushed around the 4k weekly mark.

Something strange happened this week with WSW only growing 50 odd. Something can't be right there. Any members able to shed some light? It's not as if they have hit the cap yet.

Expect more of a jump from Victory fans once the Essien deal is confirmed. Could also jolt City a bit too.

Perth and Mariners the two most disappointing this week.

On another front the two long standing disappointments thus far has to be Adelaide and Wellington. Neither had bad seasons last year yet they really can't seem to make any real impact on the membership front. Sydney FC isn't doing that well either, however we are being told from Pignata that they are on target to break the record this season. I have my doubts but we'll see.

Overall though, we are looking better than last year with only a few 1000 to go before matching previous year tally's for start of season. Should be at second highest tally by next week. The season is looking pretty rosy, and if we can avoid any major off field drama up in Brisbane or Newcastle we should be right.

So IMO growth for the league is inevitable.

so Kevin Sheedy was right the immigration department is helping the A-league

people may have laughed at him when he said that but people did laugh at him before he said that and after he said that

Haha, there's probably some truth to his words. It is the world game, after all ;)

I think it's awesome if migrants start following the A-League. It just proves how inclusive it is. You don't have to be a white bogan to support it, unlike a certain other code I know.
