+x+xabsolute tragedy for smith (and feds) to get knocked out of the cup. great for smith to get minutes but there goes his chances for the immediate future. ffs. he should have stayed at liverpool. he would have been getting premier league minutes and cup games. No he wouldn't have. based on what? liverpool will get a longer run in the cup and they are still uncertain in LB.

Jordan Lyden has signed a contract extension with Aston Villa, taking him to 2019.
Plenty of time for Mile to mentor him into a quality DM for Australia :)

Ikon starts against Midtjylland, Amini benched.
By now, American Samoa must have realised that Australias 22-0 win over Tonga two days earlier was no fluke.

No kruse in squad in a 0:0 draw at home to Augsburg. Karlsruhe or Aue for example could really do with a player like Kruse.

Been an interesting start to the Buli season, clubs like Schalke, Leverkusen and Wolfsburg doing poorly while Cologne, Hertha, Frankfurt, Leipzig etc sit near the top.

The fact that Kruse hasn't been making squads very often this season, let alone even appearing on the bench, is extremely disappointing news. He felt like a player that had finally proven himself by doing the hard yards in the early years but now finds himself in the same situation as if any old A-Leage youngster were to have signed for a Bundesliga club.

In hindsight he should've remained at Fortuna. Maybe they'll take him back.

Would have to be one of the most unluckiest we've had with injuries. If it wasn't for the injuries no doubt he'd be a first teamer at Leverkusen. Just missed too much football over the years.

Based on the fact he would have been behind both Milner and Moreno at LB as well as Joe Gomez when he's fit again.

Honestly, I reckon there's a chance he would, but it's not a given. I'm sure he'd get minutes for Leverkusn. No doubt about that. But I think his close control and ability in tight spaces is what keeps him back. Very good as Aussies go and far more comfortable than Leckie, for instance. But not quite what makes the world class ones stand out. Krusey will often knock the ball around his opponent and then win a foot race with his fantastic pace. This is a terrific skill and means you can win one-on-one's in space. But the next level up can do it in tight spaces, too, because they don't need to knock the ball forward a long way. They can outpace their opponents while maintaining close control. This is what makes the best attacking footballers in the Bundesliga (and all the top leagues) stand out. Rogic can do this, but without the same level of acceleration. If you combine them, we'd be looking at something very, very special. Maybe Krusey can do that. I've just not noticed him too it too much.

He was even being used centrally at times.

+xIn hindsight he should've remained at Fortuna. Maybe they'll take him back. So many in the same boat Williams, Herd , Sarota, Good, Devere all could be playing in a big 5 comp imo but injuries changed their career paths. Still some hope all will be under 30 for Russia but time is of the essence. It sucks because it has also given Sains and Spira the chance to take the foot of the gas and go to China.

Rogic played 85 minutes in Celtic's 2-0 win over Alloa Athletic in the Scottish League Cup quarter-final. Apparently he had an off day.

Bursaspor won 1-0, according to their site Behich was not in the squad. Feyenoord drawing 1-1 with FC Oss at HT in the Dutch Cup, Jones is in goal.
Jamieson got the best Whoscored rating in his team (8.0) as IFK Göteborg beat Örebro 3-2.
Ryan not in squad for Valencia game, still injured I assume.

Celtic have drawn Rangers away in the semi-finals of the Scottish League Cup, to be played on the weekend of 22nd-23rd October.
Valencia are drawing 1-1 at home to Alaves early in the second half, Alves is keeping but not really at fault for the goal. Jaume on the bench, Maty still out for the time being.
Also, Jones and Feyenoord advance after winning 4-1 in their cup match earlier.

Golgol Mebrahtu scored again in their 2-1 win against Jablonec, Mlada are now 1st, and he's equal 2nd on the scoring charts!

Czech league definitely isn't totally worthless. Clubs like Sparta and Viktoria Plzen have got some nice results in Europe lately. Like Sparta's demolition of Lazio. Plzen tied Roma as well.

Not sure if his first touch was on purpose but a pretty classy goal by Golgol.
