+x+xno too bad. clearly worn out and not involved towards the end. didnt track a runner back who should have scored - except for a top class save by the keeper. he's played 4 games in 14 days. edit - 5 in 18. That wasn't his man and the defence was nowhere in sight. maybe. id like to see the wide shot. i reckon he should have picked him up.

Jeggo picked up a yellow and 90 mins in yet another win, 1-0, against Ried. They are now 8 points and 15 goals clear of second. Literally taking the piss.

Should be interesting to see how Prandelli rates Ryan from this point forward. He is a proper manager with pedigree, not like the pretenders that were in charge of Ryan beforehand.
Admittedly, I'd like to see Langerak or Jones get given a chance as they have actually started to perform at club level & playing consistently, whereas Ryan has really had an inconsistent 12 months.

How tall is De Silva ? That Roda midfield look pretty small from that highlights clip. Where are they in league?

Surely Ange calls up O'Neill now for the Thai game? He called up Ikonomidis who hadn't even played for Lazio yet.

Understand, but wingers aren't really an issue either, traditionally it's been full backs and strikers. O'Neill has now almost played as much Premier League football as Brad Smith.

The goal Jones conceded for Feyenord was pretty ordinary ... out of position and really should have made the save. Langerak is playing Bundesliga 2 ... surely someone like Vukovic would almost be a better option (better with his feet than Mitch)

+xNot a very good game.Huddersfield are one of the best teams, yet barely string any passes together in the front third. The last 15mins they just hoofed it long and lost it.Very poor. Then the CB coming on as a striker to try for a header. What a joke.I just don't see any ingenuity trying to unlock defences.SW played like the Jets today, but with better defence and higher intensity. But never looked like scoring.Noone on either team could hold the ball up in the front third.Seriously MelbCity and SFC were way better than either team. I'd say every A-League team plays better than those two teams, except the Mariners ATM (way too many mistakes from individuals). Note these two teams are near the top of the Championship ladder at the moment too. Mooy didn't play bad, but didn't play well either ... quite ineffective really (needs to be higher up the pitch for me), but would the players know how to run off him, I doubt it on yesterdays evidence. I can't believe someone like Brattan couldn't get a run in a low end Championship team last season ... or is it that playmakers aren't used at that level (wingers and pace definitely seem to be the order of the day ... given most teams sit deep not a great tactic either).

SW defended brilliantly against Huddersfield, compact, defended as a team and made no mistakes. Huddersfield really struggled to break them down, and this is where there wingers really let them down, because the space was out wide but they didn't do a good enough job. And nothing wrong with some hoof ball if you aren't breaking them down.
But Huddersfield really look knackered as a team, bound to happen with the high intensity they play, specifically Mooy who was dead on his feet after 30 minutes not tracking any runs and just lethargic in his movement.
Also bar maybe Sydney and City, no team is championship level in the league, especially since the championship has gone up a level or two this past season.

Just on this note...go to the Huddersfield forums, at downatthemac.com and read the truly embarrassing posts by some Aussies on the Mooy thread...A-league teams play modern football, so much better than the the Championship, English coaches don't know how to utilise a genuine #10 etc etc Truly cringeworthy...

Ikonomidis look good in doing nothing....this thing of looking good and being young is very hard for coach to overcome , the coaches brain get overloaded with all the things they can teach this young look good player

How did he fare? 2 tackles , 0 touches as his team mates wont pass short into a DM even though he was open numerous times, when he moved wide is when he made 2 tackles, otherwise just sat behind the ball running sideways , bit disaapointing seeing him in real life game.

Cringeworthy but 100% true. Championship football is dire. Our top 4 would demolish every team I've watched this season (about 10 teams). It's like a whole different game. Their attackers are head down and dribble and "git it in tha fookin box" and "shooooot" from ridiculous positions. No ability to pass out from the back (90% of teams "possession" is center and full backs passing to each other), no ability to link up in attack (It's all one off rubbish) and to be fair pretty intensive, stubborn defense.

Sounds about as exciting as the game I saw him in. Basically just a body taking up space.
