That 16k was the Villa match so besides that, highest Jets/City for quite a while and it was on a Thursday. I'd call that a win.

Their next match is a family friendly Sunday 5pm against Welly, that should be a big crowd.

You being sarcastic.

Looked alot lower than 7.8k on tele I was thinking ~6k and thinking oh gawd...
Not too bad a result for a Thur night with train problems.

Its not a matter of going in then out

CFG should just build themselves a little 12k boutique stadium where even 8k would look and sound great. Big games can go back to AAMI. They're doing a lot right down there but the crowds ain't a comin'

Why the hell was there a game on a Thursday? Ridiculous!

How long until the Sheik starts getting itchy feet about this whole Melbourne thing. They're spending money, playing fairly well and still no-one cares about them.

To be fair the 'bigger' clubs in the league wouldn't have got a great deal more on a Thursday.

The real test for City is the next home game.... If we can draw over 10k that will show real growth for me.
I think 11-12k will come and that will show real growth from last season for us!

Agreed. My comment wasn't meant to be sarcastic - City deserve better crowds but they're not coming quickly are they. CFG seem to be in this for the long haul so go and build something that makes sense.

And that crowd for a Thursday night was pretty good, Roar midweek struggle to break 10k

Considering the team is 2nd on the ladder, and despite having jvs is unlikely to ever drop below 3rd, I'd say they would wanna go 10k+ For the remainder of the season.

Funny thing is Cahill is clearly going to do more for interstate crowds than what he will for city, anybody that lives in Melbourne who wanted to specifically see him already has with the amount of games the team has already played in Melbourne.

Two poor crowds so far, both small clubs though.

Thunder and lightning, Hail storm 40 minutes before kick off  coupled with 4 losses in a row would have given the casual attendees an excuse to stay home. TBH I'm Impressed we got 9k....All things considered that's solid.

Living in Canberra, with even an hour travel for the game, even I couldn't justify going to this game. One of my best mates back home in Griffith, hardcore Mariners fan (who's brother I'm pretty sure goes for Wellington) goes to pretty much any A-League game he can get to, he didn't even make the trip here. Was more interested in the Adelaide game.

I wasn't interested enough at all to come. I planned to, when I heard there were two games here. But not this one. I didn't even watch on TV, other than to check the crowd.

You can't expect a team to play two games here, and get a big crowd. GWS, at least, make some sort of effort to make Canberra a second home. They have their ACT specific home jerseys (only a minor change) and from memory, pull quite decent crowds, at least initially filling Manuka. All I heard in the media here, was Slavich, and "n
Oh, both teams travel to Canberra." There was pretty much nothing to engage the community here, in a way you would expect a club to in their "home" region. Given that, 5.5k is probably a good result with mitigating factors.

Interest weekend for crowds, but I don't understand the FFA, why would you trial 2 different things in the same weekend?
This round, they took the Mariners game to Canberra, and they trialled the Thursday night game.
Why would you schedule City, who are still finding their feet in Melbourne, and still trying to grow and establish a fan base, on a Thursday night??
That's a bizarre decision for me, all the kids wanna watch Cahill, many of them wouldn't go on a school.
If the FFA is trying to build a brand or a competition, surely you'd give things the best opportunity to grow...

Excuses excuses. This type of crowd would be standard for them if this was their home games. it would be shite. Even if they got an extra 1-2k it would be crap. no thanks. A2 team at best i reckon. Fuck bringing the league down further with this amateur stuff.
