There will be games in Wollongong but Wolves won't be playing. It will be the Shirebased team that will play some games down there.

Tribalism is so overrated anyway.

Nothing wrong with the present ownership model in the HAL . Its the same model thats used in Europe .Call then investors, a sugar daddy or whatever its the same thing.Only difference is that they play for billions in prizemoney in Europe.  Show me any top club in Europe without its own sugar daddy. !!!!

I first read it as Victoria Parrots FC , thought are they taking the piss, to mimic someone. Read it again and it's much much worse.

Hence why they stated its a working title and the fans will be choosing the name.

So please calm down everyone. Try not to get too upset about the name. Its temporary. Hope u can all rest easy now.

But still.

"Geelong A-League Club" is a pretty easy name to remember.

They are already trying to be a regional team by the sounds of it (I mean not exclusively Geelong).

really loving the news out of tasmania and the designs above are fantastic. sceptical of the $40m stadium pricetag tho. would expect a minimum cost of $100m unless the plan is to have one grandstand followed by a hill on the 3 other sides.

Ahh yeah I had my reservations about the stadium early on when they were thinking of playing on an oval. I was totally against it and was vocal about it. I also said that if they fix that issue up by playing a rectangular ground that it would be great step forward.

Im paranoid with Sth Melbourne because of some of the overhyped stuff that your chairman has come out with. Some completely off, such as crowd numbers they attract or the big marquee they reckon they have wrapped up (oh that's right they don't..)

Totally different situations.

PS Im much more open to Sth coming in than I was a couple of years ago, so try not to go off ur rocket with me.

TBF the only thing off about some of the South numbers are tht they have been underquoted ie. derby with Heidelberg and their GF. due to ticket scanning issues at Lakeside. Which has happened before in the AL so before anyone starts using that as an exclude to exclude them. Don't.

Correct me if I'm wrong(I'm going off memory here) but I think the numbers thing was more that it was implied they average those large numbers in the NPL as opposed the them being marquee games.

Don't take this as a diss as I'm 100% supportive of SMFC in the HAL. If other NPL clubs looked at SMFC and strived for that level of proffesionalism in the NPL football in this country would grow tenfold.

The only underquoted game as far as i know was the grand final, we had 3,600 in round 1 which was correct and some big night away games, we had some atrocious crowds in winter at home which is probably why we did away with friday night games for the upcoming season.

Round 1 away at bulleen in a fortnight on a monday night is expected to hit the 3k-3.5k mark which is pretty much a full house. Theyre big crowds by npl standards im assuming they would be the highest across all the state comps.

That's amazing support for NPL games.

South Melbourne need to be congratulated for achieving such high metrics.
