Federici out for the rest of the season

http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/38948893

Surely that means Brad Jones will get called up for the next group of qualifiers however highly unlikely he would start over a fit, and regular club starter in  Matt Ryan.

Ryan, Langerak and Jones makes the most sense, none of the A-league keepers should be selected ahead of these three and there is no one else playing at a high level overseas.

Sainsbury on the bench. Still Murillo Miranda and Medel in a back 3. That's good because they're employing 3 CBs instead of 2.

Dougall and Goodwin on the bench against Ajax. They have large benches in the Netherlands. A bit up and down for those 2 of late.

Langerak concedes. Sandhausen winger gets through 3 defenders then crosses only for the 2 Stuttgart central defenders to pull the handbrake while the scorer floats through to nail it from 2m.

Juric on the bench. Goodwin got 13 minutes against Ajax.

Inter subbed the left wing back at the break. They're up 2:0.

Hi!

As a supporter of Rosenborg BK I thought I would share some views on how Alex Gersbach is doing so far.

Last season (March-November in Norway) his competition for the left-back was Jørgen Skjelvik. It became obvious that Gersbach was the man for the future, and steadily increased his number of appearances, becoming the preferred LB by the end of the season. Many thought of him as the best LB in the league, and having cemented his spot in the top XI we all assumed he would be the unquestionable first choice this year aswell. The coach recently decided to school Jørgen Skjelvik as a central defender, paving the way for Gersbach on the LB position.

However, last week the club signed Birger Meling, a Norwegian 22-year old rising star. It was immediately thought he'd be playing on the right back, as we've sold off Jonas Svensson to AZ Alkmaar and Meling can also play there. The coach however insisted he was signed as a LB and then we signed Vegar Eggen Hedenstad as a replacement for the right-back.
During the last friendly against FC Copenhagen (2-0 win) Meling kind of blew everyone away, to put it short. So in all it looks like Gersbach is going to have a fight for his spot now.

On the bright side there is apparently still interest from Juventus, and also Arsenal for Alex Gersbach now:
http://www.fichajes.com/premier-league/arsenal-y-juventus-compiten-por-un-defensa-de-19-anos_115889
Also been unconfirmed rumours on twitter.

Hope we get to keep him through the Champions League-quaifiers.

both starting bournemouth fullbacks getting done by sterling and sane. particularly the right fullback by sane.  but sterling got the goal at the far post.  if city can put a couple more goals away smith might get a run for a little bit.  wilkshire has come off just before half.  this probably throws everything out the window.

the right back charlie daniels?  was probably one of the best for bournemouth against city in the end.  i think smith is going to struggle to get into a starting side again this season.  he will come close to playing more minutes for liverpool last season than for bournemouth this season.

tranfermarkt has him on

554 minutes for bournemouth this season (so far)
1066 minutes for liverpool last season (in total)

LUONGO SIGNS CONTRACT EXTENSION

7:45 14th February 2017
by @QPRFC

Aussie ace agrees new deal ...
  • Massimo Luongo signs new QPR deal
  • Midfielder pens contract extension until summer of 2020

  • MASSIMO Luongo has agreed a new long-term deal at QPR.

The Australian international has put pen to paper on a contract extension until the summer of 2020.

Speaking exclusively to www.qpr.co.uk, the 24-year-old expressed his delight at committing his long-term future to the club, commenting: “I’ve enjoyed my time at QPR so I’m really pleased to have signed this new deal.

“It was a big decision for me, but the right decision.

“The next few years will be really important in my career, and hopefully I can build on the progress I feel I’ve already made with QPR.

“I’m really enjoying my football here and the fans seem to have taken to me as one of their own, so I couldn’t be more delighted.”

The 24-year-old – who joined Rangers from Swindon Town in May 2015 – has made 59 appearances in all competitions for the Hoops so far.

    leckie v lahm

good to see ingolstadt finally turning around their form 3 of their 4 wins have come in the last 4 or 5 weeks of play.  including scalping leverkusen and Leipzig.

i fell asleep in the ingolstadt v bayern game.  leckie was causing havoc as usual - against one of the best backlines in world football.

it was nil all when leckie was subbed off at 89 minutes and then bayern score twice and pinch the game in extra time.  coincidence?    i think not.

Aston Villa vs Barnsley. No Jedinak. Elder starting with Jones and Williams on the bench. Mooy and Wright starting.

O'Neill and Meredith starting. No Herd or Inman in a bit of midweek rotation.

    What's going on with Jedinak?

Villa losing 3-1 at the 62nd minute, serves them right.

Gethin Jones on for Elder at 55 minutes.
