Don't forget the FFA cup semi on Tuesday.... essentially 4 City games in Melbourne in the space of 3 weeks.

I had totally forgot about that. That is home game overload. Couldn't have scheduled a worse semi final match up between the 2 melbourne clubs. Cant be helped i guess. But i dont understand why they gave the adelaide game the following week as a home game knowing they would have been in melbourne the 2 previous rounds. Now add the ffa cup semi and it's way too much.

And also the fact that most City fans would have gone to the away Derby game last week and that they will also be playing at home again a week later against Adelaide. So in effect that's 3 "home" games in a row. The effect will most certainly be felt.

If the FFA were trying to give them a good schedule they certainly fucked that up.

And for people here sure to whinge about the low crowd for Friday (which mark my words will be low), an overall perspective view on it needs to be taken. If they manage to hit 10k that would be a real achievement imo.

Hopeful Predictions:
City/Glory - 8,000 (weather is going to ruin this one)
CCM/Roar - 6,500 (weather is going to ruin this too)
ADL/Victory - 15,500
Wellington/Sydney - 8,000
WSW/Jets - 17,000

55,000 total.

Hopefully weather doesn't get too rough friday and saturday, and WSW could still potentially go higher than 17k

ADL/Victory - 15,000
Wellington/Sydney - 8,000
WSW/Jets - 14,000

50,000 total.

Not going to be a good week for crowds.

Forecast for Gosford is the rain dropping right off by the arvo kickoff time. Melbourne probably wont be so lucky tomorrow. Still, You'd think they could pull 20k between them.

Looking at the seating map for WSW vs Jets, there are bugger all seats left. Mostly singles dotted around the stadium. Surely they could be pushing 20k too?

Listening to the fox sports podcast and was mentioned a couple of things on tickets sales:

1. Melb City v Adelaide next week is tracking better than the Perth game this week... so if they do get a decent crowd this week, then we should be expecting a good crowd the following week also.
2. Melb City & victory are 50/50 revenue splitting the FFA cup semi next Tuesday to both help promote the game.

Weather is going to be completely wreck both the Melbourne City and CCM home games this week. Will be lucky to crack 15,000 between the two games.

Rest of the matches look fine.

Just looked at the weather for all games and none seem great.... potentially rain at all of them! We are a week away though and hopefully the weather turns for the best!

Assuming the bad weather stays away in Melbourne on Friday night, is it completely unfeasible to expect 15K attendance?
This team is playing an exquisite brand of Football, currently have a solid 10K + Membership, and will surely attract theatregoers in their droves.
Does anyone have an early indication as tp what the crowd might actually be?

Also, given the fact that there is some excitement around and demand for tickets will inevitably be relatively strong, will they open the second tier at Aami Park?

Spotless being a draw is nothing but it's the first game at your new home fir the next couple of years , think the supporters would want to show up to kick things off

Wsw v jets - Sunday - spotless - 18k First home game at spotless you'd imagine would be a huge draw, so should sell out or go close (less the member no shows ) . Sunday night game so won't be expecting many traveling supporters for this. Coming off a win, though derby loss hurts. = 64.5k

Not sure why you think playing at Spotless is a huge draw? It is a horrible stadium to play in - it's an oval ground, you feel further from the ground than at ANZ and there is just a poor a crowd atmosphere. The only thing going for it is direct access via the train.

Next week... early call so not taking weather into account.

City v Perth - fri night - aami - 14k

Cahill's first game, big derby win but the 2 weeks in a row factor may hurt? Also I can't see Cahill bringing in an extra 5/6k like we could expect with del piero early days... though I'd be more stoked than anyone here to be proven wrong. Does appeal to the kids so you never know? Memberships are up but not by a ridiculous amount.

Ccm v Brisbane - sat - gosford - 7.5k

First home game is the attraction but coming off a big loss and not overly much hope for their season.

Adelaide v victory - sat night - coopers - 16k

Always sells out?

Nix v Sydney - Sunday - westpac - 9k

10k turned up for the opening game and now they have their players back so should be an attraction, however coming off a loss can't be expecting a lot.

Wsw v jets - Sunday - spotless - 18k

First home game at spotless you'd imagine would be a huge draw, so should sell out or go close (less the member no shows ) . Sunday night game so won't be expecting many traveling supporters for this. Coming off a win, though derby loss hurts.

= 64.5k

They didn't reserve their seats, because they've never had to do that before, and there was a cutoff for it, which I think was 4-5 days ago.
Members had to do it online through the Victory website. But any members that missed that cutoff, would then have to go through Ticketmaster, and were stung a $6-$9 booking fee per ticket. Sure that may not sound like much, but after you've already purchased a $200/$300/$400 membership, you really shouldn't have to do that, or made to pay any extra. You should be able to turn up, and if you have a GA membership at Etihad, you should be able to sit wherever you want, as per normal, like every other game there.

So in this case there were many members that were unaware of this bizarre process, as they couldn't just turn up on the night. Its bureaucracy gone completely mad! The club got ahead of themslsves, and not for the first time. I reckon that cost them 5k extra attendees on the night and god knows how much $$$ in extra food and drink. I don't understand why they'd do that, just keep things simple FFS!

And that is with a surprisingly small away support, could of been another couple hundred

Yeah it really should have been 14,989

Why didn't they reserve their seats? Did they not want to go or did they forget?

Disappointing crowd tonight at Etihad, hopefully Victory will learn from this, as their stupid policy to force every member to reserve a seat for tonight's game probably cost them an extra 5000 in attendance, in what should've been a 50k plus crowd.

Looks like we're heading for a round total of around 95k, which would be fantastic, about the 4th or 5th highest on record.

Already after just three games it's only a few hundred head short of the top 25.

I'd love to see the Glory fans react to their strong squad and get us up to 100k however, but I might be asking too much.

Might be a bit much getting a big crowd from Glory. They just had a packed out League international there and a lot of 'maybe going fans' would skip this weeks game against WP and went to that instead.

Bit disappointed with SFC effort too. Was hoping for a bit more.

I think expansion is the only rhing that will really lift avg crowds in this country. A loopsided 3 round robbin league can be nauseating at the best of times.
