Really poor stuff from Sydney, almost a quarter of there total crowd came from one game and they won the league as well. 

About 20% came from the one game, which is extraordinary given the fantastic season they had.

Interesting that the Timmy factor died very quickly. MC were the biggest crowd for 3 teams, all done by Round 5. Wellington (R1), Victory (R2) and Brisbane (R5).

Sydney also biggest crowds for 3 teams - no surprise that they're all NSW teams.

Most problematic for the FFA is the disengagement of fans, as the biggest crowds tended to be early, whilst the lowest were towards the end of the season. Maybe they should rethink their  draw!!!!!!

Timmy didn't appear in Wellington due to the internationals that weekend and you'd expect Victory/City to be their biggest gate with or without Timmy. Roar marketed the hell out of Timmy coming to town and it worked but overall the guest marquee fund has not had the intended impact.

So 4 clubs (City, Roar, Glory and Wanderers) finished with an average attendance bigger than their previous two seasons average - so going in the right direction. Victory, with five years averaging above 20k, are above criticism and the rest are kinda Meh but not disastrous unless maybe you're Nix.

We just seem to have got stuck in a negative trend and the mid to low 12k average. That has to be reversed next season.

Great work again Joffa, I've enjoyed reading this throughout the season. There is enough trend data to generally predict what the averages will be going forward, seasonal form aside.

Disappoint that there has been small decreases every year for 4 years now. I was hoping this season would reverse it.

It will be interesting to see how WSW fans respond to their new stadium next year and a shout-out to Perth for cracking the 10k barrier for the first time in the A-league.

WSW have one more season in the AFL stadium unfortunately. Once they're in the new stadium they will hopefully replicate the success of Victory at the MRS.

This is the 4th season that the averages have declined. This season was a negligible drop, but the real story (which can't be manipulated with a couple of derby crowds at the olympic stadium) is in the medians. This season 10,236, down from 10,541. That's quite a drop.

I am led to believe the new stadium is at least 2 season away and maybe 3...

There is probably a lot of work involved, but it would be interesting to see the median figures.

The big city derbies are probably creating distorted figures.

1. Fantastic effort by the Glory to jump 1,500 on average in a space of one season. Credit where credits due, the backroom staff seem to have made a real attempt at engaging with the community. Having been to NIB in Jan, the matchday experience was pretty good but i was shocked about the lack of pre game coverage and media the club recieved. It was late Jan and it was either all about the scorchers or the afl sides.

2. Very alarming that the Phoenix have dropped by 2,000. It would be interesting to compare to only Wellington crowds however.
It seems their biggest slides have been their 'roadshow' crowds in other cities. Just food for thought...

3. I've said it before without the stats but there should be concern from the MVFC camp (and i'm a 10 year member saying this).
Dropping by 1,000 despite hosting 2 derbies is enough to show serious concern. 23,112 down to 22,008.
Despite many claiming the NT issue won;t effect crowds, it quiet clearly has. Despite being in the top 2 all season and playing pretty good football, our crowds have declined but it's been under the radar. I also have a theory that not many casuals really go to games anymore due to expensive ticket prices.

4. Congratulations Brisbane. Despite all the off field issues you have still come out in droves and shown some solid improvement. If you can keep it together in the off season, it would be great to see them further grow.

There's more Marquee money next season, so we should see several clubs with big names.

Clubs will have seen the boost Tim has given the game, both in the domestic media and overseas interest, and will be capitalising on it.

What boost? 

Phoenix and Mariners had their lowest ever average. Jets had their worst average in 6 years, and their 3rd lowest average ever. Those are the 3 teams that need to improve. The rest of the league is tracking o.k. Perth great, hopefully they keep it up. Victory, Brisbane and City, meh, o.k, nothing to worry about. Wanderers o.k.  Disappointed Adelaide dropped, maybe they had some theatre goers in the second half of last season and maybe a few fickle supporters didn't go this season when they were so poor. Whilst Sydney are o.k, you'd really think they could market better and draw bigger during such a stellar season.
