+xHaving a new team in Ballymore would only be a good thing for QRU, and I can see why they'd be behind it. Dobsons Revenge

+xAnyone who has been to Ballymore in recent history will know it needs a lot of TLC to bring it up to scratch. Last time I was there, I noticed a tree-sized weed growing through the pavings near the southern stand. Corporate facilities and food & drink outlets are non-existent, I imagine a heft amount of cash will be needed to entice fans. I wouldn't be surprised if the Roar are keeping close tabs on this, possibly even being involved at a consultation level as they may consider sharing the ground with the new club. It could possibly save the Roar in the region of $2 million annually in stadium hire fees which would make a huge difference to their bottom line. I was thinking this too. I know some people like to moan about rival clubs using the same stadium, but if it saves Brisbane a couple million a year it's a no-brainer.

However, a smaller stadium would suit both Roar and the new team - both play out of Bally more in years to come?

Band aids everywhere. After all the criticism this now seems like a rush to judgement to silence the justified criticism levelled at the FFA.

Consortium with links to Brisbane City FC. Major announcements coming in the next hour or so. This certainly looks like the real deal

@ ToldyaSo
City is probably the best run club in the city and is well connected via the financial and property development community. Not to mention the Italian community which is pretty strong. It looks like they'll have plenty of people involved that know Roar over the years which may be good, or they may just repeat the same mistakes lol.
Ballymore makes even more sense now, you'll be able to park up at BCFC and walk across to Ballymore - so if they do a good deal on the stadium they'll be $2m a year better off than Roar.
But I recon this is it now - Brisbane "City" and South Sydney will be approved to join for 2018 sometime in the next few months, driven by Fox and cocked up at every step by gallop. Lunacy is a good word for it mind you because this entire process has been so messed up it's hard to see gallop surviving now;

There's some launch event taking place at lunchtime apparently, Marco's got a story coming out later today with more to follow tomorrow, presumably they'll have their own site up and running soon and we'll go from there. But there's various fox personalities in town for this (Harps, Rudden) which shows the push Fox are prepared to put behind expansion and, more importantly, to support who they want.

What are BCFC's colours? Will they change them? How big is their support, financially and crowd-wise?
He was a man of specific quirks. He believed that all meals should be earned through physical effort. He also contended, zealously like a drunk with a political point, that the third dimension would not be possible if it werent for the existence of water.

Brisbane City are ethnically Italian. Bearing in mind the story goes the club will have an "interest" in the new franchise it may only be that. But they play in blue, have the Italian flag within their badge, have a stadium next door to Ballymore, and have an academy down to U6s already. The only football journalist in town (Marco) used to play for them even lol.

Gladiators will just be the nick name though right. The actual name will be Brisbane City FC though, correct?

geez, they have really expressed their italian heritage through displaying an azzuri jersey on the stage and having green and red balloons everywhere. Looks like their point of different from the roar will be their remote but boutique 20k stadium and their italian identity
