Im not against it as a model though because it ensures production. It means clubs cant just recruit and expect promotion. They still must do work on the academies.

Joined the forums looking for the NPL and QPL announcement news. Monday is way to far away. Can't wait!
 

They said they would know by today on Twitter.

Looks like the clubs have been told to wait for the media announcement. I've looked everywhere for any news. Nothing on social media yet. Surely the sides who missed out couldn't make things worse by letting the club members know early.

I think Rabieh may have left a clue in this quote. Good news for Fury, not so good for FNQ.

If they don't change the name it will all be a waste of time. No one goes to the games not because of the coach or players but because of the Fury brand itself.

Soooo those who have not been granted free to spill their guts? 

Football Queensland said they had 35 applications for 27 spots (Brisbane Roar youth automatically keep their NPL spot).

Some of the clubs made their applications public but not all.

Looking forward to the announcement at 12.30.

Football Queensland Unveils Clubs For New Two-Tiered State Competition

Football Queensland is delighted to reveal the 28 clubs that will elevate our game to the next level as part of the exciting new two-tiered state football competition.

From 2018, PlayStation® 4 NPL Queensland will expand from 12 to 14 teams and will be underpinned by the 14-team Football Queensland Premier League (FQPL).

Seven regional centres are represented in the restructuring, which brings with it the added excitement of promotion and relegation as determined by the combined tally of Senior, Youth (U20s) and U18s points.

Mackay & Whitsundays Magpies Crusaders United, a joint venture between two clubs, are one of two newcomers to a beefed-up PS4 NPL Queensland.

They will be joined in the state’s top tier by historic former National Soccer League force and reigning Flight Centre Premier League champions Lions FC.



Four regional outfits also headline the history-making FQPL, from which two teams will be promoted each season.

Football Wide Bay will guide a new side representing their hotbed of talent, a breeding ground which has produced the likes of former Caltex Socceroos goalkeeper Clint Bolton and Sydney FC’s title-winning midfielder Josh Brillante.

Sunshine Coast Wanderers and two new Gold Coast entities, Gold Coast Athletic and Gold Coast Galaxy, are set to strengthen their respective regions’ development pathways.

Ipswich Knights, Logan Lightning and PS4 NPL Women’s Queensland sides Souths United and Eastern Suburbs are among a diverse range of 10 Brisbane teams also admitted to the state second tier.



Football Queensland president Greg Redington said the restructure provides fresh impetus at all levels.

“This is a new era for football in Queensland,” Redington said.

“As we approach the end of PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland’s fifth season, this is a prime opportunity to be bold and to advance our sport.

“Welcoming more clubs to state-level football means new opportunities for players, coach, referees and administrators.

“These changes are especially encouraging for football’s regional footprint as we tap into more of Queensland’s talent pool.

“We now look forward to working closely with all 28 clubs over the coming months in preparation for this big leap forward.”

Monday’s announcement of successful applicants follows the Football Queensland Board’s ratification of the selection panel’s recommendations.

Applications are currently being accepted from teams interested in taking part in PS4 NPL Women’s Queensland from 2018, with Football Queensland to begin assessing submissions on Monday, 19 June.

Oh well another year of no body going to the games.

The surprises for me would be:
- Mackay straight into the NPL
- Southside Eagles in the QPL.  They must have upgrades planned for their facilities, because they are poor at the moment.
- Two newly formed Gold Coast teams.  They might struggle.
- Wide Bay instead of Across the Waves.  I'm assuming this is a new club to be run by Wide Bay Football.  I would have preferred to see ATW given a chance.

Not bad things, just not what I expected.

So.. did anyone notable miss out or not really?

I don't think so.  Maybe Albany Creek and Capalaba would be disappointed, but we also don't know who the rejected clubs were.

Does Gold Coast Galaxy have anything to do with the original Gold Coast Galaxy club that was going to be granted the A-League licence before Gold Coast United came along?

It's official keeping the Fury name colours and logo. Another lost opportunity for Townsville football. After another season of no local support they will again blame the football community. 👎🏿

Why would changing the logo and colours make a difference?

Would still be the same team, pathways, administrators, sponsors and so on and so forth,

The name is hated by most of Townsville. If they keep it then the crowd will sta the same zero. I'll bet beers on it.
