I sure hope Victory is lobbying for the Adelaide away match to be on the 23rd so Milligan and Troisi get a run before heading to Japan. It's in the best interest of the Socceroos, in truth.
Also means I'll be able to go. It'll be our only game at Hindmarsh this season, probably.

+x+x+x+x+xVery good win by the lads, albeit against a under strength Roar side. I felt as though we dominated the game, and apart from perhaps the Austin penalty (our third goal), all our goals were very well worked - tossing up between Troisi's goal and Berisha's lob over the keeper for best goal of the night. Thought the newbies did well, especially Rhys Williams - slotted in seamlessly and his anticipation to cut out lots of attacking thrusts was excellent overall. Disappointed to draw Adelaide - would've loved any NPL side, especially a Victorian one. Oh well, we'll just have to go on ad win the whole thing now. pretty stiff to draw A-League opposition away for the second game in a row. But in saying that, I'm not massively disappointed drawing Adelaide. thought we looked fairly sharp last night. We've developed a very good habit of dominating in the pre-season. I can't remember the last time we lost a game before round 1. we've been undefeated in at least the last 2 years. Victory have won every single preseason game including pre A-League FFA Cup fixtures since October 2013 (this includes wins against Atletico Madrid and Juventus) with the sole exception being a 1-1 friendly draw with Sydney at North Hobart Oval in September 2014. I guess we get the boys in form early at Victory, speaking to good systems in place at the club. Could have sworn Roar beat Victory in a pre-season game in Ipswich, if I remember correctly Yeboah scored the winner in the dying minutes. That could have been before October 2013 though, not too sure. That was September 2013. :) Our run starts after a 1-2 loss at AAMI Park behind closed doors to Adelaide in October 2013, one of those FFA mandated friendlies. Cheers, I thought it was close to October. Pretty impressive run going for that long without a loss in pre-season/FFA Cup, good stuff.

Recent Project Commission: Melbourne Victory Football Academy Funding SupportClient: Melbourne Victory Football Club About the Project: Melbourne Victory Football Club appointed Otium Planning Group (OPG) to develop a project prospectus to support a funding submission to Sport and Recreation Victoria (SRV) as a partnership funding submission for the development of the $17.895M Melbourne Victory Junior Football Academy at Footscray Park. Otium Planning Group
So not a whole lot in this document really, other than the club has applied for funding assistance from the Government and that the project is an estimated ~$18 million worth of facilities for the club. Could also potentially read between the lines and see this as proof that approval has been given for the Footscray Park location? That's probably drawing a very long bow however haha.
Great to see the club is being ultra serious about the Academy.

Lads I got a theory.. Now this isn't a sourced rumour or anything, just a thought I feel could come to fruition.
We all know we need a left back, time is running out. There's a certain Jason Davidson at the Terriers who will need 20 players to break their legs if he's to break into the first team.
Currently playing in their U23s, World Cup year, we know he's not up to standard of the national team, but I think in the HAL he might go alright.
Loan deal? He's from Melbourne, family in Melbourne.. I reckon it might be a good fit.
Thoughts?

Good theory Azza, would be a good signing. Not sure how much he'd want to come back yet though. I feel like if it was an aption we would have heard some whispers.
Also first episode of For Vuck Sake for 17/18 is out!

Actually a pretty strong rumour here in Holland is that Hercules Almelo are looking at him. (His old club) he was pretty good last year.

+xMatias Sanchez on a one year deal - source Damn your quick Walnuts, Still think its a strange signing. He has to be a bench player, if we play him, Valeri and Mills there is no creativity in midfield. One year deal also, hmm...

I just kinda hope he's more attacking minded - we need more cover for AM than we do for DM.

We will lose Troisi and Millsy every international window so he will definitely get starts. Maybe they will push Troisi out on the wings and have this fella in AM? -PB

IMO if they're going to push one of our current midfielders forward it will be Milligan - likes to get forward and he's experienced enough to make the right pass. Also got a handy shot on him. That said, I can't see Muscat moving away from Troisi in the AMC position and Milligan in the engine room.

I guess he's an upgrade on Mahazi. Does this mean it's Bronx at left-back? Where's our goddamn replacement winger?!

It looks like Muscat may be going with a different formation.Maybe 442.could Troisi be moving forward to left wing.Otherwise maybe Valeri is going to be sharing the bench. In any event looks like a strong squad for the ACL.

Up our sleeve - is probably an Asian player (maybe a left back) to be signed in January for ACL. Hopefully the VISA striker is coming soon for the start of the season.
Full trophy cabinet (but yours looks a bit empty) ! Reigning BACK2BACK 442 A League and World Cup (Mens and Womens) Tipping Champion - so yeap, I do know best !

I'd rather use that 5th import as a good player to keep our domestic campaign on track rather than a probable adequate Asian LB for the ACL campaign. From memory WSW did it well a few seasons back when they signed some Japanese lads for only their ACL campaign which wasn't counted towards the cap.

Maybe a narrow diamond midfield of: Berisha - Barba Troisi Milligan - Sanchez ValeriOr as Crusoe mentioned, could look something like this: Troisi - Berisha - Barba Milligan - Sanchez Valeri
