Sainsbury and Spiranovic are okay, or at least have the ability to be okay, apart from that none of the other cbs tried are good enough. That Milligan, a part time CB, is better than them really highlights how bad our CB stocks are currently. We could try Mrcela, Jovanovic, Chapman or Ansell but I am not sure they will improve things and Ansell is injured.

No Borrello. It was my hope he'd get a start and no he's not even in the squad. New manager and Kaiserslautern are dead last. Borrello is the only one who's not received a decent run in this shambles side. 

A league wingers who get about 1 goal every 4 games before leaving tend to do well. Borello was a little short of that. Still I would have expected more than this in terms of game time.

I would like to trust Sainsbury and Spiranovic as a CB back pairing, but their club situations are troubling and make it more difficult. I would prefer Wilkinson to the rest of those being picked but that is never happening.

Gersbach must be LB and I am not sure about RB, someone who plays it very defensively. Maybe Dougall can play RB although he only has played one game at RB for Sparta. Apart from that perhaps Milligan, grasping at straws.

spira and sainsbury should not be in the squad this time.  

Just start RIsdon at RB, absolutely not ideal but should be able to do a job against Syria.

Better than pulling milligan out of holding midfield where he is crucial for us

Sainbury must be in the squad if he is fit, he is our best CB, he has being playing very well for the Socceroos except for the game against Thailand. 
Spiranovic is not so clear clut but I would have him in the squad. Not sure I would play him.

Me either.. but right back is a major problem. We have nobody. The other option is Milligan, who'd probably do a better job than the others.

Funny thing is they are all makeshift right backs.

I thought the best we looked against a counterattacking team was when smith and risdon played fullback. Both can be sloppy but they are at least quick

What about maybe Irvine in this role?
He has played there at club level previously - is good defensively and also has good mobility and a big engine.

Ryan Williams is getting some good minutes in League One for Rotheram. He played a full game over the weekend and his team won 5-1. He seems to have put his injury nightmares behind him, and he seems to have a manager who believes in his ability. Well done to him.

Anyone know what is up with Dylan McGowan at Pacos de Ferreira? As far as I can see, he hasn't been in any squads so far. Mabil has been doing well, but McGowan seems to have disappeared.
