https://www.fourfourtwo.com.au/news/ffas-rebel-sell-475493

Rebel will also be the naming rights partner for the Football Federation Australia's Play Football campaign and Female Football week during the long-term deal.

FFA CEO David Gallop welcomed rebel and their parent company Super Retail Group, and hailed the deal as a landmark moment for football.

So what are our chances to make it out of the group??

Japan and South Korea both tend to have strong women's teams too.

I had quick look at our qualification stage but they were both one sided contests for Australia so don't say much (other than weak opposition). I saw North Korea flogged Thailand 9-0 ... ouch!

Not really across the young Matildas but we have Japan and South Korea in our group which could prove problematic going by senior football pedigrees.

From what I can make out the 2 finalists go through and 3rd place to France.

Bump.  Game tonight.

A win or a draw here should put us through.  Assuming a win in the last game against Vietnam.  (Japan pined them 8 nil in the first match.)

South Korea spanked Vietnam 5-0 earlier today, and with Japan playing South Korea in the final round a win against Japan will seal a top two spot.

Dreadful error with a backpass by the Japanese defence and Seimsen makes it 1-0 with one touch for the strike.

Number 11, Torpey has been good, saved our arse after Carpenter mistimed her touch in front of goal and has been getting forward a lot.

Well this turned around badly. I missed all the Japanese goals, but now I see we can't play out through the midfield at all. All one way traffic now.

Wheels have fallen right off unfortunately.   4 - 1 now.

Some ordinary  defending.

Japan have worked out if you pressure the player there's  a fair chance she'll cough it up.

Geez Japan are well organised.  Leave us with no time on the ball and seem to swarm in large numbers around any of our players with the ball.

AFC U19 Semi Final against North Korea is at 6pm AEST tomorrow, Japan v China afterwards. A win (or a win in the 3rd place playoff) gets them through to the U20 World Cup.

North Korea are current U20 and U17 world champions.

Hopefully we have can at least one youth team at a world cup.  Haven't been any of those for a while.

I'd say we are lucky to be in the final as it is ... we were second best against South Korea for most the match, some last ditch goal keeping heroics and the cross bar saved us (and a non-call by the ref after our keeper rugby tackled a Korean striker).

North Korea won all their group matches without conceding a goal (9-0, 2-0 and 2-0). Going to be a tough struggle for our girls ... best of luck.

Agree 100% on your assessment Sokorny.

Based on performances to date I'd say Nth Korea / Japan final with us in a 3rd place playoff with China.

Need Chidiac to fire, (hat trick in the last game), Carpenter playing her best and the GK to have another good game.

Japan basically tore us a new one.  Need a waaay better performance this time out.
