Has anybody done the maths to see who we miss and for what games due to the next round of WCQ. 6/11/17 at home to WSW = no Kosta, no Troisi, no Milligan (can not play for Aust but can he play for MV?)? 11/11/17 at home to Roar = no Kosta, no Troisi, no Milligan?
Full trophy cabinet (but yours looks a bit empty) ! Reigning BACK2BACK 442 A League and World Cup (Mens and Womens) Tipping Champion - so yeap, I do know best !

Milligan can play for MV, it's an international suspension not a club one.

It'd be pretty weird to get him to fly halfway around the world and back as preparation for a big game. Surely he'll just excuse him from the squad and keep him fresh for the second leg.

Has there been any diagnosis on Donks on his hip flexor? I reckon he was pretty underrated and is important part of our back 4. Hoping we get some good news.

+xHas there been any diagnosis on Donks on his hip flexor?I reckon he was pretty underrated and is important part of our back 4.Hoping we get some good news. Afraid not. Looks like he's out for the season. MELBOURNE Victory’s poor start to the season will be compounded with defender James Donachie set to be ruled out until 2018.
Donachie, 24, is booked in to see a specialist on Tuesday but the early diagnosis is grim with the defender set to be sidelines for at least a few months with a torn quadriceps.
It looms as a far worse scenario than Victory had hoped, with coach Kevin Muscat hinting that it was a hip flexor injury after the 2-1 loss to Melbourne City on Saturday night.
Donachie clutched at his leg in the 83rd minute and tried to play on, but plans to stand upfront were scuppered as he could barely walk.
He then hobbled to the bench as Victory finished the game with 10 men, as Matias Sanchez dropped back to cover as Muscat had made his three substitutions.
Young defender Thomas Deng, who was dropped after filling in at left-back in Round 1, is likely to come into the team for the Friday night’s visit to Adelaide United.
Mark Milligan, whose preference is to play midfield, and Leigh Broxham, who’s been earmarked for left-back this season, are other options.
The injury is a massive blow for Donachie, who had a strong start to the season following on from last season’s impressive debut campaign after joining from Brisbane Roar.
He was developing a strong bond with new signing Rhys Williams after a solid partnership with Spaniard Alan Baro last term.
It may also dent the title hopes of Victory, who have had an impeccable injury record in recent seasons, after Donachie had stood tall late last season and featured in the grand final loss to Sydney FC.

Lets just hope that Williams doesn't get called up for the Roos, otherwise our backline for two important games against Brisbane and WSW would be:
Nigro-Deng-Broxham-Geria :hehe:

He will need to be up to speed with the tactics, etc. I reckon he will go.

Yeah I would prefer George to be in a bit more central rather than the FBK cutting in winger type thing. -PB

+xTheres no way Williams isnt getting called up for the NT. Yeap - he looked good. Very good. Thought Deng, Geria, George impressed. Austin did well and even gave an OK post match interview. If the team can get going on all cylinders then they will be the best team to watch in the league.

No Plan B and lack of subs is really starting to make me hate Musky. Literally nothing has changed strategy/tactics wise from the past few season, zero evolution at all. -PB

+xDoes anybody know how to listen to the recent "For Vucks Sake" podcasts without going via itunes ? Used to be available on Soundcloud, but appears that was only from S2 Ep2 to Ep5, last year. Do they post it to FB? edit: was a bit slow hitting the 'Post' button. The boss walked past...

Melbourne Victory set to train in MaribyrnongOCTOBER 24, 2017 1:00 PM BY BENJAMIN MILLAR Maribyrnong is set to play a central part in Melbourne Victory’s training regime under a $750,000 plan to redevelop a local playing field. Melbourne Victory Football Club (MVFC) has offered to spend $500,000 on fixing the playing surface of the cricket oval at Robert Barrett Reserve, creating two soccer training fields, in return for a proposed 10-year license agreement for the A-league soccer team. Maribyrnong council would chip in $250,000 for the upgrade works to the cricket oval, adjacent to the Maribyrnong Aquatic Centre, found by a council report to be lacking adequate drainage, irrigation or lighting. The oval is presently used for Saturday games and junior training by Barkly Street Uniting Cricket Club, one of the area’s oldest and largest cricket clubs. Melbourne Victory would use the pitches for about 15 hours of training per week, enabling the cricket club to maintain access for training and Saturday games. Works would need to be completed by April 2018. Barkly Street Uniting Cricket Club administrator Jeffrey Law said the tight timeframe meant the council was initially going to kick the cricket club off the field barely halfway through the current cricket season. “We have made a compromise so it [work]would start in February, which means we would only have to move one game,” Mr Law said. Maribyrnong councillors last week backed sending the plan out for consultation, noting it was an opportunity to cement ties with the popular sporting club. Melbourne Victory and the council last year entered an agreement to develop a junior football academy at Footscray Park and the club also inked a five-year strategic partnership earlier this year with Victoria University. source
Surely not for the senior squad - new home for the NPL teams perhaps? Cricket in summer, football in winter?

Seriously though I'd doubt it'd be for the senior team given they are primary tenants of the facilities at AAMI Park and practice on Gosch's Paddock next door (as do the Storm).

So who stands in for Bes?
King Kenny not ready yet so I'd say Kev would just shove Leeroy George up there, he says he plays all across the attack, and give Waring 20 or so minutes at the end.
Keen to see what Waring can do after his hatty against City yoof.

Keen to see what Waring can do after his hatty against City yoof. Leroy is so devastating on the left though, and helps provides us with an outlet going forward. Absolutely no harm in throwing Waring in for the next two weeks - he's scoring goals at yoof level, lets see if he can do it at senior level.

Kev confirming that Millsy is available to play against WSW and will link up with the Socceroos in Sydney. It'll be good for all parties to keep him fresh and in form for the final push at home.
