+xWatching our missed chances is sickening. That pass across goal was the big one. Yea, that was a shocker.

+x+xNot a big fan of Behich but he had a terrific game, I'd be dissapointed if he didn't start in the home leg. Bailey Wright and Risdon our weak links today. Behich shows the benefit of playing week in week out for 2-3 years straight in a settled team in a decent league Now 26 years old so in his prime after continuing to improve and learn his position... has played his career well and for mine was excellent tonight and was a no brainer to be selected, and should keep his spot for the home game Agree with this which was excellent

+x+x+xbridges and moore going on about our great performance. i thought we were awful, dour. couldn't score in a brothel and can't make a decent cross to save ourselves. our gameplan is keep the ball and do nothing with it so the other team can't score. we create nothing going forward and our quality up front is so bad. You mus have been watching another game. Yes our finishing leaves lots to be desired but we created enough clear chances to win 2-0 at least. We pressured them in defence, so all they could do all match was kick it long (you could hear their own crowd moaning at how poor they were playing ... that was down to the Aussie pressure). Midfield ran the game, Mooy, Irvine and Luongo held the ball up brillantly ... some good combinations with the wingers. I'd say because we didn't really play any goal scorers other than Juric may have cost us some goals, but also may have saved some goals being scored. I think Ange expected more from Honduras, and personally so did I. clearly we didn't create enough to be "at least" 2-0...because look at the score board. same crap the commentators said. we had 3 good chances. One was the little dink from luongo, one was the ball across by risdon and the 3rd was jurics pathetic shot that he only got because the defender fell over. So really thats 2 good chances in 90 minutes of football where you have about 90% possession. thats really really poor. its awful to watch, this is the most unwatchable socceroos i've ever seen. well fmd. Maybe you did not watch the game. Yes the defender slipped but it was a very nice piece of skill by Juric to flick the ball over the back, catching his opponent off balance. And IMO we domonated the match and created several chances away from home in a quite foreign environment. Not sure what you expect? Maybe you think we are Argentina or Germany or something. We clearly are not. With the players we had and a couple of our better ones missing, I thought we clearly were the better team in an inter-continental playoff away from home

Juric had two good chances, one the bobble, and two the header, furthermore he over ran a cross that would 've been a tap in. I am sick of hearing "we created chances'', our execution in front of goal is woeful, and 1 away goal may sink us. I don't think it's going to happen but we should have got more out of this game. Unfortunately we just have no quality striker apart from Tim Cahill, and what happens when he retires...Blame the FFA for their failed Dutch experiments and getting rid of Scheinflug and Blanco from our junior set up..... we have good strikers who can score goals. juric is clearly not one of them. his attempt at holding up the ball is to take 3 touches them flop all over the group and never get a free kick. must have the worst flop to free kick ratio in world football. flopped 4 times this morning and no free kicks. can't score to save himself either, god knows his shots to goal ratio for Oz, probably needs a good 100 shots to score. funniest thing is ange refuses to even give him a strike partner. lets play with 4 CMs when we're already good in the middle of the park! god forbid we ever try and solve our issues of creating and scoring!

89.6% pass completion from Mooy, the highest in our midfield, but I bet the stats are much lower for passes into the penalty area!
Only 47.4% for Risdon, although of course their roles were different.

+x+x+x+xHonduras were perhaps so cocky and then got shaken up and seemed to have no plan. They normally get smashed away but drew in Costa Rica. Their win against Mexico saw them score comical goals. A really confusing bunch. Yeah, having had a look at discussions on this game, Honduras fans thought they could beat Australia because we barely beat Syria Syria were miles better than that. Agree with that just from watching the last 90 minutes. We really need to give our AFC opponents more credits. afc is not far off becoming the number 3 conference in the world

Only 47.4% for Risdon, although of course their roles were different. Mooy 93.4% crosses and free kicks to absolutely no one. Is there not a single player that can take a free kick besides Mooy? Besides which if you're taking a free kick on the left into the box you want a left footer to swing it away from the keeper between the 6 yard box and the penalty spot. Not one delivery there despite numerous chances.

+x+x+x+xRuka on.....Ange should be sacked, i don't even care if he scores. Ruka being a part of the national setup shows its just a selection ruled by favouritism. The same with Kruse and all of the other substandard Roos who have little business being in a WCQ squad. Not Kruse? Lol. I can't remember the last time Kruse played well for the national set up. The guy has no composure, no touch, poor service, and when he scores they usually come off the wrong foot or his knee or some other part of the body he didn't intend to hit the ball with. Gets the goal against Syria and the perfect cross to Timmy. Im just replying to the most recent one, in know others have disagreed. A few positive things against a couple of minnow teams doesn't mean anything. Until the guy can play attractive and cohesive football for the national team then ill continue to hold my opinion. The goal against Syria was sloppy anyway and he was lucky have made contact with the ball. Look I'm not saying the guy wasn't once good, and he seems to have found some club form, but put him next to Mooy and the guy looks like NSWPL2 player. Mind you Mooy had a poor game today.

Good to see Behich and Luongo bringing some of their club form into the NT. Better result than thought might be. Are Leckie and Kruse injury free now or are they still in doubt. Their experience should be a huge asset.

Well I am surprised we got a draw in the away leg, because Hondouras are hard to beat at home, I thought we were going to get smashed.
But once again poor finishing is royally fucking up the Socceroos, bad finishing (in addition to some bad defending) is what got the Socceroos into this intercontinental mess in the first place.
We are still in it, and I suppose the only other consolation (in addition to not losing), is that Hondouras are poor travellers, but we must respect them, any win or score draw will see them through.

So potential line ups on Wednesday night?
--------------------Ryan-------------------- -----Milligan--Sainsbury--Jurman---- -------------Jedinak--Mooy-------------- Leckie-----------Luongo-------------Behich -------------Rogic-------------------------- --------------------------Cahill-------------
Perhaps we might need to see one of Kruse, Troisi or Gersbach there insted of Behich/Luongo just to give us a bit more penetration. However I find it hard to drop either of them considering the form for both club and country they are currently in.
I'll leave it for Ange to sort out...

Juric has to learn to head the ball down. Cahill wouldn't have made the same error. Thought Australia played overall much more positive in this game then the others. The pitch looked very heavy underfoot which wouldn't have helped. Did see a lot more 'go forward' from Australia in this game. Not your usual backwards and sideways rubbish we've seen in the last 10 matches. Interesting stat I heard on the commentary that Australia hadn't won a game o/s in over a year. Is that right?

When its all said and done we are in an excellent position. The team played extremely well in the conditions. Yes the finishing/crossing was sub par but there are some real positives in the way this team is playing. Harsh that a lot of the focus is on Juric's miss, I thought he played a very solid game holding the ball up in tight spaces and pressing/closing down channels from the front. Luongo, Behich, Sainsbury were the stand outs for me, but overall a great team effort.
I would like to see:
------------------Ryan----------------------- Degenek------Sainsbury--------- Jurman Leckie---- Luongo---Milligan---- Behich --------- Mooy ----- Cahill----------------- ---------------Juric----------------------------
Timmy playing in a slight withdrawn role against Chile was the best I'd seen him play in years. If he's fit it will give us a real attacking intent. If not, I'd look to Kruse with Rogic on as an impact player.
Either way we should be able to bring in 4/5 fresh sets of legs into the starting XI which will be an immense bonus.

We really need someone else to take freekicks a and corners, mooy can't do it. Surely we have another option. Game after game he wastes what is our biggest advantage. The bloke has really gotta pick it up for the roos, yep he gets on the ball alot, but his poor first touch and nothing but sideways passing leaves alot to be desired. Not to mention if he ever joins in a counter attack he kills it with his slow ball movement.

+xInteresting stat I heard on the commentary that Australia hadn't one a game o/s in over a year. Is that right? Yep, last away win was UAE in September 2016. Of the eight matches since then seven were draws, at least. Our home record is also certainly worth bringing up.

That header he only had to put either side of the goalkeeper and it was goal. Usually strikers are taught to head it down and back the way the ball was coming (as generally keeper will be wrong footed). Juric did neither.

Was anyone else really disappointed with how Honduras played?? I haven't seen Australia dominate an away game like that since our first round qualifiers (Krygzstan at home were more threatening and built up attacks better than Honduras did in this game). I really thought they'd bring more to the table being at home (I thought they'd play with more skill than the Syrians).
Do Honduras usually just play the long ball .. not generally the sort of play you associate with an Central American team, especially at home (and to a country that probably hasn't played in Central America for decades).
