I love Bed, but it can be a bit annoying when he rages at others for their deliveries but then when he has a chance to thread an easy pass to Theo he doesn't. Geh. -PB

i think its time to accept that the club got the recruiting wrong this year. they have spent all of their money on our starting 11 and had nothing left over for depth. then you add injuries, suspensions and national duties and we're being shown up pretty badly. Say what you want about Millsy's red card, but we were getting walloped before it happened. Would like to see the club do some serious squad turnover in January, but I am not holding my breath.

Muscat out! He did the recruiting this year, he's trained the players, chooses the weekly lineups and makes the subs. The responsibility is with him.

It's hard to watch the team this season, disjointed play, very poor discipline and not many scoring chances despite the quality in the forward half.

The dumb thing about the a-League is this rabble will probably still arse it to the final again.

The fact Broxham is starting every match this season whereas 2 years ago when Victory won the title he was a utility tells you everything you need to know. Muscat is picking players on relationship not on form so the overall performance is terrible. Unfortunately Muscat is good mates with Di Pietro so he wont be going anywhere. Welcome to the wilderness Victory fans!.

Absolutely all of this (apart from the walloped part, yeah they had the ascendancy but there was no reason we couldn't have turned it round later on). The fact that we brought in Sanchez as a dm, with already having Milligan, Valeri with Brox and Nigro (even Williams if needed) as backups without having anything resembling a LB was ridiculous. We all love the Brox but he doesn't add anything in the way of attacking impetus. Surely we have to get a couple of replacement players for Donks and Austin.

+xThe dumb thing about the a-League is this rabble will probably still arse it to the final again. we'll probably still be around in the second week of the finals... which probably says a lot about where the league is at. +xThe fact Broxham is starting every match this season whereas 2 years ago when Victory won the title he was a utility tells you everything you need to know. craziest decision of the off-season not signing a legitimate LB. Broxy can play there as backup but he doesn't have the pace or the attacking mindset top play this role permanently. he does not overlap. ever. +xSurely we have to get a couple of replacement players for Donks and Austin. what concerns me is that we haven't done this when players have got injured or brought in replacements when when people leave mid-season. Leijer, Valeri, Beister, Galloway are some examples (off the top of my head) in recent years (I'm sure there are more).

I think this team is very 2014-era A-league. We simply haven't improved at the rate at which the rest of the A-league has improved. Just look at the recruitment other clubs have done in recent years - WSW with their spaniards, Adelaide with Matmour and Adlung, Sydney with Bobo, Ninkovic and the Polish bloke. We have simply stagnated.

Broxham played in 28 out of 29 games including finals in the 14/15 season, starting in 23 of them and subbed on in five, and scored the winning goal in the final lol

Fitness aside, it does feel like we're still in early preseason finding our feet, given how disrupted our core group has been so far. Hopefully that will at least get better towards the end of the season. The four of Milligan, Troisi, Kosta, and Bes have only played three games together so far this season (Round 2 v City, Round 3 at Adelaide Oval and last night) or really two plus the few minutes before Millsy got himself tomatoed lol

There has been a number of issues that have made it difficult for Victory this season and though I am disappointed with the results I am more upset the the recruitement done over the last few years. Many players brought in have been average at best and not Victory standard players. The biggest club in Australia has to get its act together in this department and make sure future recruits are tried and tested before bringing them to the club.

The Vuck's Sake podcast boys with the inside info on William's injury, apparently someone met him leaving the physio and he reckons he's only out for a week, two at worst. Hope he's right!

Melbourne Victory’s ill-discipline under Kevin Muscat’s rule a glaring problemMatt Windley, Herald Sun MELBOURNE Victory is low on the A-League ladder but high on the competition’s ill-discipline standings. And the rash of yellow cards received combined with its lack of results continues an interesting trend at Victory under Kevin Muscat’s rule. Victory players have combined for a total of 22 yellow cards this season at an average of 2.75 per game. Besart Berisha is shown yellow. Picture: Sarah ReedPicture: News Corp AustraliaIncluded in that are both the yellow cards Mitch Austin received against Western Sydney on Melbourne Cup eve, as well as Mark Milligan’s red card against Newcastle last Thursday which will keep him out of Sunday’s trip to Wellington. The yellow card tally is tracking similarly to the 2015-16 season in which Victory finished sixth and crashed out of the finals at the first hurdle. FITNESS TEST: Williams expected to face Phoenix ALL ANGLES: Jets fire, Reds surge, Roar’s disgrace In that 28-game campaign the team copped 76 yellows at an average of 2.71 per game. But in the two other full seasons in which Muscat has been in charge, the yellow card count has been much lower — and both of those seasons ended in grand final appearances. Victory registered 62 yellows (average of 2.14 per game) in its 2014-15 championship season, while last season it copped just 64 yellows (at an average of 2.2). Victory have received a combined 22 yellow cards this season.Picture: AAPMuscat’s men have also this season committed 127 fouls at an average of 15.9 per game. Only Melbourne City (135) and Brisbane (132) have been whistled more times. And Victory is, along with City and Central Coast, one of just three teams to have two players sent off this season.
Melbourne Victory’s ill-discipline under Kevin Muscat’s rule a glaring problem

Williams and Valeri on 4 yellows already is a concern. We can see that this year will have inconsistent, disjointed performances with players missing through international duty and suspension meaning we rarely have a full strength side in.
Seems reminiscent of when we finished 6th a few years back.

Leroy and Bes' misses and what seemed like a handball from Durante on Kosta's shot. Have a feeling this will be one of those sputtering, season-starts-now-every-4-games type seasons.

Our best performance of the season. Would have been heartbreaking to not get 3 points. We had barely looked like scoring or creating any chances from open play all year, but yesterday we should have scored 6.
Need to work on our pressure off the ball, their full backs having that much space to cross should never happen.
Kosta was fantastic at tracking back in his lasts tiny here, needs to start replicating that. George needs to offer more support as well.
I think Sanchez should start with Millsy on Friday night.

Hard to get much out of it. Good to see we had fight in us Wellington are garbage, no fitness and defenders. 20 goals conceded in 8 games. 15 in the last 5 games.
3-3 vs Roar(H) 0-3 vs Jets(A) 5-2 vs Perth(H) 1-4 vs CCM(H) 2-3 vs Victory(H)
Adelaide game should hopefully show is where we are at. Good to have a couple wins in the past three weeks though.

Good for MV that milligan is back and no coach. He needs to pull his finger out to get on the park at Russia.

Happy 18th birthday to Christian Theoharous!
20 years younger to the day than Tim Cahill, who's spent his 38th birthday taking the money and running on City lol
