Hark ! Is that the sound of sleigh bells ? No, that's Greg O'Rourke clearing his desk.

Looks like the mid-season dropoff has begun... I wonder how low we'll go this time around.

+xMelbourne v CCM 8,370 SOURCE: Ultimate a league. Hopefully Geelong games are off the cards. I turned it off as the stadium completely destroyed the atmosphere. A bit like a Wellington game.

^^^ I’m against oval venues but this is just silly. The AO gf was fantastic with 50k there. Better than an empty Hindmarsh.
Club owned stadia has to be a long term plan. We have to deal with the fact we don’t have that sort of asset or capital at the moment. P&r could help promote investment in the lower tier stadiums but I’m not sure anyone has got any modelling or evidence of this. What we have is what we have. Not that we shouldn’t be pushing for change.

We know how that works, and where the money is!

They developed it in 1995 when O'Neill became CEO of the ARU and when Rugby was professionalised.

They developed it in 1995 when O'Neill became CEO of the ARU and when Rugby was professionalised. I think O'Neill's model was a stepping stone. He was simply laying the foundation It worked for its time and worked well. Anybody who could remember football in 2004 would never have thought we would see 50k attend a regular H/A game 2 years later The problem is the FFA never progressed and O'Neill was never around long enough to progress it in the direction he would have IMO O'Neill is the only adaptable sports administrator the game has seen since the FFA took over. Everybody else is a one trick pony with a DIY AFL kit

+xBullshit. There was barely 5. Normally you can tell when the near bench side is empty as well. One of those crowds that you could probably count if you were bored..same as the city/victory games on the weekend.

I can't vouch for the crowd figure since I haven't been going to games but I can usually tell at the game if the figure is true or not.

Suncorp looks shit on tv BUT all the transport goes to Suncorp, it was designed that way, so trains, busses, even the City Cat ferries get you there.
Inside the stadium there’s plenty of clean toilets, plenty of food bars, plenty of alcohol bars, and there’s big screen tvs for replays.
Ballymore - definitely none of the above.
Perry Park - none of the above
QSAC - none of the above.
So Suncorp isn’t shit for Roar fans, it’s shit for the tv viewer, and it is the only option for now.

That and the 3.5 years left on the contract yes.
Honestly think Suncorp would let them take 3-4 games away each year during concert season so they didn’t have to spend $1m on re-turfing mind you ...
