+xPourre:Last FY $3.9m loss, $3.3m the year before. Bakries have lost $19.8m since taking ownership Ouch. Who would want to own a football team. Still makes me wonder why they are hanging on.

Devere injury mis-diagnosed- was meant to be 3 months+ according to Medics but turned into 4 weeks. Franjic signed taking last roster position so no room for January signings

Damn, I must have missed these questions, unless they haven't been asked yet. This are lot of rumour about Craig Moore’s involvement in private player management and creating a “mates” club. He has been sacked before? Why? Can you clarify?
John Aloisi has been with BRFC for three years now, today it is obvious we have gone backwards and are light years behind SFC. How long do you back Aloisi for?
The product on display is poor, everyone can see it, why cant the higher ups take the criticism the fans give? Do you have the courage and conviction to do what’s right to make this club challenge for the title or are you just another person content to draw a pay cheque? The roar have gone from the highest football standard in the country, to the worst run team in all Australia. Why? Is there a plan for turning around the abysmal performance this season and if so what is that plan and when shall we see it implemented?

From inside word I have heard of this 'mates club' at the Roar too. Aloisi and Moore are very tight too so unless the powers above remove one of them or both I'd be pretty sure in saying Teflon John is here to stay for at least until his contract ends.

Moore reports in to Aloisi. Aloisi and Moore aren’t great mates, Kingsman and Moore though are best mates, Kingsman and Aloisi didn’t see eye to eye. Make what you will of all that.

@Mr B,A team doesn't go from the best to the equal worst due to bad luck, anymore than a company goes from super profitable to in massive debt. It's bad management ! The latest outcry from management that players are at fault and need to lift is desperation. The players follow instructions from management. If the best management can do is tell players to lift then they have lost the plot. The players should be following a plan.If they follow it and lose to a better team then the players aren't good enough for the plan or the plan isn't good enough.Either way its still management at fault for losses. They picked the players and the plan. That's their job.If they cant get the combination right then its goodbye management(JA). 4mill for a team that will likley finish last is not good enough under any circumstances. It's JA 's team for the first time. How could anyone have faith that the same guy that finishes last this year(WP look more potent ) ,can get recruitment and a new plan right for next year, when both failed miserably this year?It just doesn't happen in football.Normally you get the boot and try and reinvent yourself Will the owners sink another 4mill into a new team selected and coached by JA?.That's the big question.

@ Crimsoncrusoe
Agree fully with most of what you’ve said. The playing group got where they are due to bad management either from the coaches, the administrators or most likely a combination of both. I believe new MD David Pourre now knows the main reasons that caused this and hopefully action follows
Aloisi has to toughen up and accept responsibility, even if it is “the players” as Moore indicated this week they are still his players, the ones he signed. So you’re accountable for them John - as you are for the 3-at-the-back debacle at the season start, the changes in medical support which seem to have cost you half a squad, and if the training pitch is “too hard” then get it watered or move somewhere else ffs
As for the Bakries, an annual loss of $3m remains nothing in the bigger scheme of things and there’s no way to get Roar to break even with the current stadium deal. Cut back on marquees and spend 90% of the cap as CCM did will get them playing in front of 7k crowds or less all the time - net result is they save money in one area but lose it in another.
So they’re stuck with what they have with a seemingly high sale price of $20m being their escape clause. Whether anyone will pay that is very debatable, there is a credible rumour that there is an offer that’s close or matches that on the table with a decision due this month - whether that’s true or not we mere fans will never know ..... unless it goes ahead.
But if there’s one good thing to come out of this season it’s hopefully that the Bakries realise the consequences of their poor ownership are no sponsors so loss of revenue and poor team performance so loss of crowds and revenues .... maybe a $15m offer isn’t so bad faced with the alternatives?

My best guestimate of how we ended up in this mess is this....
JA decided early on that he wanted to go three at the back? This may have been inspired by Ange and other national team people or by overseas coaches. With three at the back it requires some clever players up the pitch to keep the ball and pile the pressure on the opposition. It does not require pace up front as much as long as the wing backs do all the work. Based on this plan,JA gets in some skilful older players up front...Maccarrone, BKF and he had Holman. Then he wanted some back up players, hence Gameiro,Skapetis..then some youth..D'Agostino. He thought McKay,Caletti would be able to do the running in modfield and Kristensen clean up the defensive work and send the passes forward. Backline looked strong.Although the wing backs were a gamble with nothing better going around. Preseason turns i to a disaster...three at the back keeps failing.injuries pile up amd the train wreck starts moving. SOS goes out for more pace up front.Eric is hired. But cont het a visa. With three at the back failing into the start of the season, all the back up plans are useless with old ,clever but slow and injured players. Midfield is a disaster with Kristensen injured and McKay and Caletti not up to defensive work and poor at what they should be good at..passimg and going forward. The squad is so frail ,half the team is not fit ,is changing each week and is playing catch up.All the time confidence is droppimg and losing is becoming normal.Standards drop all over the place. While most other teams have a plan and are improving Roar is lost.No working plan with the players available nor the best players when fit. Halfway point.........4mill spent. No room to improve the squad and no gumption to take the hard decsions and move players on and get new ones in.But more importantly no plan for playing style. So recruitment is pointless anyway. What players are needed amd what players should go can only be decided once you have a plan. At the moment the plan is ...Just urge players to try harder.

Roar players fighting for contracts, McKay saysBrisbane Roar skipper Matt McKay admits a host of players at the struggling A-League club are fighting for their careers. 11 JAN 2018 - 5:43 PM UPDATED 1 HOUR AGO Some of the club's biggest stars are coming off contract - including veteran midfielder McKay, who admitted none of them had a particularly good case for an extension given their current woes. There are 19 players all up whose futures beyond this season are uncertain, with marquee Brett Holman, reigning club champion Corey Brown, imports Fahid Ben Khalfallah and Massimo Maccarone, utility Ivan Franjic and goalkeeper Jamie Young among them. Some - like Maccarone, Holman and potentially even McKay - could retire, but others could have the decision made for them if their performances don't improve quickly. "I had a word to everyone yesterday at training about that myself," McKay told reporters on Thursday. "This is our job, so we want to perform at the best of our ability to continue doing our job. "At the moment it's not happening so no-one can really walk into (football director Craig Moore's) office and demand a contract. "We'll continually work hard and hopefully those results come and some players start to get resigned. "But if not, then the club can change direction." McKay and defender Avraam Papadopoulos will return from suspension for Friday night's away clash against high-flying Newcastle. Papadopoulos has missed the last seven games for spitting at Sydney FC's Matt Simon while McKay has been out for two weeks after lashing out at Adelaide's Nikola Mileusnic following a challenge for the ball. Asked if he was disappointed with the way he was sent off in that match, McKay said: "Not really." "That's kind of been a part of me my whole career - I'm an aggressive player, I like to get involved and still, I disagree with a lot of things that happen. "Things get blown up a lot in Australia and also since some of the procedural changes have come in with the VAR. "I'm happy to be back now, I've served my time and I'm out to work hard for my team, the fans and the club." The Roar have lost four of their last five matches, with all of those defeats coming at Suncorp Stadium.

Being aggressive is one thing, being a grub is another.
I'd say kicking out at someone is not blowing things out of proportion, so nice to see the Captain making excuses for being dirty on the field.

Maybe the fact that so many players are off contract is actually a selling point? Clear out most of the players and rebuild immediately. Unlucky the coach isn't in the same situation.

@Waz not sure anymore what ‘action’ would even look like. Can’t even picture what our first 11 would look like. We have a left winger but no right. If Matty and Avraam are back, does Pepper miss our despite being consistently in our top few? Surely we can’t play TK, Pepper and Matty in midfield? Does Leck get another chance given his ‘MOTM’ performance?
