Everyone available. Outplayed at home. Disrupted preseason?

I'm glad I'm a 14 he flight away from the Roar shit show. Although getting a little withdrawal as I love the sport but the Roar hurts me so bad.

It's good that we are fixing the back of house.

I really sense there is no love for the team.

Its sad when i just dont care if we lose, because its another nail in the JA coffin.
As the commentators said,we used to win home games. But how can you do that when you have old players that now can't outlast the southerners in the heat.
Any smart coach would get a younger team and get them fit and used to the hot conditions. But our coach gets older players.Genius.7 losses at home later...
At least the women are worth watching.

Yep, lets be honest a draw would have done nothing for Roars chances at the finals and would have just given Aloisi another get out of jail free card.

The women’s game was fantastic and Mel and the girls deserve credit for a great season. The men scored a massive own goal by not even congratulating them though

Enoughs been said this season on this team, it’s just Groundhog Day from one game to the next. We’re not bad enough that we get thumped but not good enough to win by a few when we’re up.

This long ball shit does my head in - what dies Aloisi see in it?

@ crimsoncrusoe

Bit of an own goal hey.

I do know the club requested the FFA to reschedule kick off by pulling it forwards 15 minutes to allow proper time for celebrations post match if they won but Fox Sports wouldn’t allow it to happen which underlines the lip-service many people give the women’s game.

The Womens game between Roar and Canberra was on Foxsports in direct opposition to the CCM v WSW game.
I wonder if more people watched the womens game like me?

Tickets are on sale for the semi final now via ticket master. They’ve got the pricing right with $5/kids and a family of four for $25. Presumably $10/adult

And best of all ZERO friggin dollars for handling fee. Ticket prices were $30 and I paid $30. Hallelujah.

I blinked and the NYL is over.I didnt know it had started.

Sadly Brisbane boys finished last in their division with 2 wins.Geez what has happened to this club?Didnt we used to produce good youth players?
Lowest goals scored for any team in both divisions and goals conceded 2.5 a game.So keeping pace with the seniors.
Excuses?

@ crimsoncrusoe

Where they finished in the NYL has no bearing on youth development though, not saying there’s nothing to worry about just not to place too much emphasis on it.

Drop O’Toole, Ingham, Caletti, D’Agastini, Leck, Akbari and Sawyer back into the NYL team instead of being with the first team squad and where would they have finished?

D’Aggers is still here; Champness was competing for a place with Broich, Borrello, Oar and Holman while he was here and ahead of him in the pecking ruder was Shannon Brady who was put on a long term contract several years ago.

Didn't want to get mixed up the big Greek-Aussie Papadopoulos.
So JA got rid of Champness and Konstandopolous.
He might need a new Head & Shoulders Ad soon to pay the bills.

Still a bit filthy we lost Champness tbh. Not to say he's as good as our older players, but I'd rather develop youth than take on veterans like FBK. Pretty disappointed Brady hasn't kicked on yet. Is Leck really better than him?

@waz,
So the excuse is out best youth weren't available for the 8 weeks of the competition ,when they were sitting on the bench for the seniors team?Which implies every other club miraculously required less youth on the bench each week?Like those kids at MC and AU.
Does conceding 2.5 goals a game come down to missing a few players?

@ crimsoncrusoe

Results at this level do not guarantee development. In fact it normally works against it because coaches pick a team to win and not pick players who need to play to develop.

I can give you an example last year when Glory came over - they played four first team players to get the result they needed. Where’s the youth development in that.

The measure of today’s youth squad comes in two years, how many are breaking through to the first team?

Look at the list below and it’s clear it’s been working despite the fact the youth team has been getting thumped regularly.

Roar have something like 42 young kids on their books all of which get a look in during the season.

Roar youth have had more players progress to first team than any other A league club , as Waz has said its best not to put too much loading on how well the NYL team go’s in the 8 game comp , has no real bearing on the big scheame of things.

Clearly for a long time Roar has helped produce a lot of quality youth players. But that has coincided with reasonable results for the NYL.Finishing last with terrible statistics and saying, but winning is not everything, sounds like national team bs.Sure some opponents will stack their teams just to win.But if you have good players /good coachingi,i question whether they would keep losing.
Is every opponent stacking their team?
It feels like where we once had high standards, now we have low standards.
During the Ange era ,losing by more than two goals would have been unheard of.Conceding an average of two goals a game would have been unheard of.
Look at Roar now.Nothing is bad enough,because...insert excuse......

@ crimsoncrusoe

It’s not bs, I think you’re being over harsh and just looking for things to complain about.

It’s a completion we’ve never won but Sydney have won three times - who’s got the best track record of youth development? Roar by a long way ...

It’s a well researched area so just google it and read up.

The reason it’s such a challenge is unlike an adult team not everyone’s at the same development stage, development stage is different to ability, Roar were trialling plenty of 15 year olds last year - you don’t do that if you’re worried about results.

I haven’t seen much of this seasons games, a lot have been at odd times unfortunately but despite results over the years Roar keep pushing young kids through. How effective it’s been this year is a conversation for 2 years time

It seems Henrique’s best chance of rejoining the Roar would be to sign for an NPL Queensland club, perform well and show he’s worthy of an A-League contract for the 2018-19 season.

He doesn't need to bloody prove himself ffs, he is a club legend like Broich, just needs to get fit and bring him in for next season, I wouldn't want him playing around the other rejects at the moment any way, the season is over.

Agreed Mr. B

What has Aloisi got to lose? Bring him in for the rest of the season, if they can’t get him match fit in 2-3 weeks then they’re all knuckleheads... he can always play NPL through May to July if needs more match fitness. Then decide on next years contract.

It would be silly of Aloisi not too, would get him some brownie points with the fans, something he needs at the moment. I would go watch Brisbane just for Henrique alone, these are the type of players that bring people to games.

Amen to that Mr B.

Roar have a week off after Friday night so they can max training out on Ricky for a full week if need be.

It’s a no brainer - even if he’s “lost it” no Roar fan will blame Aloisi for giving him a go.
