Yeah but that 300 people at the VNPL game was fucking amazing, am I right? Imagine comparing first and second tiers. Imagine decreasing already verified figures to inflate your own. I find it funny only Sydney FC fans getting upset these days. Thank god Wanderers are here. Without them your average would be only about 15k.

It's not a good crowd - it's an understandable crowd, given the circumstances (both on the day and for the league as a whole) but we should be asking the question why only 25k decided to turn up to such a big match as part of the broader review into why the A-League and Australian football in general has gone to shit. This is not a potshot at you, Victory/Adelaide on Saturday night also had a shit crowd at just 13k that you can understand why so many didn't turn up, but it is definitely not good.

Sorry but if you are drawing negatives from that game then maybe you need to dial down the negativity. Sure, there is a lot to be negative about but that wasn't such a moment. I will be more disappointed if the must win game against Kashima draws less than 15k.

+xI thought the first derby was just sub 25k - could be wrong. How badly has the average attendance dropped now? Finals would be an interesting test as well. 36 or so thousand at the first game.

BREAKDOWN | ⁉️ The numbers are in after our first @OFCChampsLeague Game against @MaristFC2017. Here are the facts... 🏟️ Attendance: 12,000 🌡️Min Temp: 32 degrees 🌡️Max Temp: 38 degrees ⚽️ @RossAllen10 first player from Guernsey to play in the OFC @OFCChampsLeague That is three times the crowd of Wellington Pheonix. Imagine how huge a NZ league would be. Auckland City and Team Wellington bossing the league and the OCL. A relegation battle at the bottom.

Looked it up as the 36k looked odd.
According to wiki, first SFS derby was 26,176.
So the latest iteration is terrible...

Yikes, looks like the a-league isn't the only one struggling. Makes you wonder if a national second division is actually viable.

We are not unique. 25,000 Dortmund fans stayed away in protest at a game being moved to a Monday night: http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/43201642Now why would they do that? ... Because the time and day a game kicks off IS important to football fans so can we get over ourselves in Australia and schedule all games on an appropriate day and at an appropriate time.

I think it's a snobby of Dortmund fans really.
Iirc for years didn't bund2 play match of the round on Monday nights? Dortmund just hasn't played that fixture in so long. It's not like it is their new every match time slot either.

If 25,000 fans want to be snobs then they’d better listen ...

They have season tickets right?
Dortmund would having a massive waiting list for those. The club lost some match day revenue from beer and sausage in a one off or do game. Bundesliga won't care. It's for tv.

Champions league kicks off at 8.45 pm on Tuesdays and Wednesday's but 8.30pm on a Monday is the worst thing ever.
Personally I love Monday games. If you live in a city with functional public transport you can go straight to the game after work and it doesn't take time out of your weekend. We used to almost exclusively play on Mondays at home in the past.
