One of the kids asked me how much would someone like De Vanna get.  Had to tell him I had no idea.  They play in about 3 different comps during the year.

I wonder what an average player gets in Norway, Germany, USA and Japan.

Team Salary Cap Regulations

Team Salary Cap

In computing the Salary Cap, it is assumed that it is spread across a minimum of 18 Players (if a Team is carrying additional Players because of Roster Relief due or Goalkeeper Replacement, these Players are also included) based on adjustments for Federation Players. Therefore, if a Team is carrying less than 18 Players, minimum salary Player spots are added to the Team’s budget for the purpose of calculating the total TSC (i.e. a Team cannot spread the TSC over 11 Players).

Team Salary Cap: $315,000.

Maximum, Minimum Player Salary Budget Charges

Minimum Salary: $15,000.
Maximum Salary: $41,700.

Most woman who play in 2 leagues per year plus the Matildas are earning around $130,000 plus any endorsements they can manage.

Australian u20 team beat Thailand 2-1. Lowe and Sayer the goal scorers.

Looks like E.Hodgson, E.Carpenter and C.Dawber didn't end up being on the squad.
Instead H.Bourke, K.Fenton and M.Fowler were in the side.

Suprisised there was no K.Torpey or J.Gaalabadaraachi.

Elise Kellond-Knight has move to Seattle Reign put on hold by 'discovery' system

Updated

Matildas midfielder Elise Kellond-Knight is in football limbo, and it's all because of a weird "discovery" system that is used in the US.

Kellond-Knight was hopeful of making a smooth transition into America's National Women's Soccer League after parting ways with German club Turbine Potsdam late last year.

But her dreams of linking up with Seattle Reign were thrown into disarray when she was told that she had already been "discovered" by North Carolina.

Unbeknown to Kellond-Knight and most of Australia's other topline talent, America's professional soccer league uses a "discovery" system that allows clubs to spot talent and effectively "dibs" them.

This can happen with the player having no idea they have been "discovered".

If that player ever decides to join the American League, they are forced to link up with the team that "discovered" them.

The situation has left Kellond-Knight in limbo, with the 27-year-old still desperate to link up with Seattle, but unsure if it will eventuate.

"I was put on a discovery list without me knowing, without my manager knowing, without anyone knowing really," Kellond-Knight said.

"And then when I tried to enter the league and sign a contract I was prevented from doing so, because I was on a discovery list with another team.

"It seems a bit strange, but that's how they run the league. It ended up being a messy circumstance.

"It's a lesson I've learnt. It's a lesson that Australians have learnt within the team."

Kellond-Knight hopes the situation will be sorted out within the next few weeks.

If her planned move to Seattle falls through, her plan B will be link up with a European club during the July transfer window.

But for now, Kellond-Knight is putting her focus on leading the Matildas to Asian Cup glory.

Kellond-Knight is set to feature in next Monday's friendly against Thailand in Perth, before the team flies out to Jordan for the Asian Cup.

If the Matildas finish in the top five at the eight-team Asian Cup, they will also secure qualification for next year's World Cup.

Good to see all that Foxtel money being put to good use.

To be fair, it's only business class costing about $8500 for the on way trip, so about $17K for the round trip.

Must be a tough life schlepping it like that.

Cheap shots are cheap.

Do you seriously expect the CEO of a business worth 10's of millions of dollars to travel economy?

You're as bad as the squawking Jaquie Lambie and Pauline Hanson ilk whinging about politicians getting business class flights.

Anyway, whatever, the girls play tonight and unlike the men they're likely to win.  Hope there's a decent crowd although a 6pm local start time wouldn't exactly help pull the punters in.

Anyone shocked that Fox Sports just showed an ad for Perth Glory matchday ticket sales? What a world fucking first. I'm used to getting bombed with AFL ads about token women, token sudanese, token muslims during our telecasts.

I'll stick up for the liney there.  Nightmare when the players are real close.  You're usually watching the ball looking for the foul.
