I would like to see the 23 be something like this based on current playing form:

GK; Ryan, Jones, Vuka

Defence; Sainsbury, Jedinak (killing it at CB for Villa), Susnajr, Williams Karacic, Behich, Jurman, Gersbach

Midfield: Mooy, Luongo, Irvine, Rogic, Petratos,

FW; Juric, MacLaren, Nabbout, Borello, Leckie, Kruse, Arzani

Just Missing squad or extras (Langerak, Chapman, Degenek, Risdon, Milligan, Antonis, Cahill)

My 11 from that would be

------------------Ryan
Williams---Sains--Jedi---Behich
------------Mooy---Lunongo
Borello-------Rogic-------Kruse
----------------MacLaren

This leave some pace and trickery late in Arzani, Leckie, Nabbout, Petratos etc that could come off the bench at tired defenders

Terry Antonis is progressing nicely with Victory.

Popa suggests he hasn't been match fit for years until now, and, that he has a lot of talent.

He's been fantastic. Great passing range, wins the ball well and is able to drive forward in attack and provide assists.

Haven't watched City for some time, but after seeing Arzani last night he needs to be selected immediately for the Socceroos. Otherwise Iran is going to select a player with exceptional potential.

Arzani is a little too right foot dominant, but the way he beat half the entire  Jets' team in one action on the right side in the second half, he took half the Newcastle out of the play in one action!

I'm not sure BVM is looking at the long term, but someone in the Socceroo set up needs to cap Arzani immediately in the interests of the long term Socceroo scenario.

Antonis impresses with long range passing with either foot.

He also beats players 1v1, which is not a Milligan strength.

I haven't really had a good enough look at his defensive positioning when the other team has the ball, and, his ball winning capabilities - yet.

he needs a lot more discipline.  fine he beats a bunch of players but he also turns it over a lot because he holds the ball too long.  his decision making lets down his skill at times.

he also needs a full season at senior level.

there will be offers over the break. hopefully he takes the one that puts him on the pitch. right now he probably needs game time in a competitive league more than anything.

antonis has always had the talent. a couple injuries and a poor transfer to greece cost him massively.  if he has a solid engine he would be sensational next to luongo in a pair of 6/8's with mooy in front.

what happened in the holland?

All true, but he has a capacity to win games when the game plan is failing with one act of brilliance.

In just half season Arzani has the HAL's top stats for beating players 1v1 in attacking deception moves. He is already far better than Kruse and Leckie in this facet of football.

In the second half i saw he crossed a ball with his left which was not bad in the end, so he can use his left foot i suspect he prefers using his right foot in most cases.

Antonis hasn't been match fit for season according to Popa, his old coach.

I'm not saying he should replace anyone, but that he is currently playing well and improving quickly from week to week. Selling Milligan at his advancing age and keeping Antonis was some shrewd business by Victory.

Best 1v1 aussie player ive ever seen, he has a few things to work on his game but he's base is quite frightening.

Good.

When he runs with the  ball and dribbles , he is very right foot dominant.

He could be our version of a fantastista ala Neymar, Ronaldinho based on his style of game and how he see's things when others don't.

Not sure what australia understands what they have overall.

He'd be so much better when the other players are on his wavelength, because right now he is literally forced to beat 2+ players just to be in a position to create a half chance. If only Mccormack stayed.

With x-factor players they are going to take risks whilst seeking reward, but with time and experience, those players tend to mature over time.

So good that BVM trialled Petratos and Nabbout. No more wondering what it could look like. We have concrete vision of what they can generally do in a gold shirt. Suddenly we have lots of options.

It's great he's taking 35 to Turkey. They're going to be put through their paces and apart from a select few, no one is guaranteed a spot.

Germany's fringe players are dropping like flies. Gnabry hurt last night and Stindl has just gone off with a bad injury. Boateng also in a bit of doubt. Saves Löwe some decisions

Our 35 will give BVM some headaches. Sadly one person will get injured at least. Borello is already one and Williams looked rough tonight.

If we're ever going to forgo a striker due to our lack of them, Irvine and Rogic appear to have that good drive forward.

Not taking anything away from Juric or Maclaren and I don't think we'll see it at the world cup or perhaps even ever. If we get a Handy lead at the Asian Cup, the second half against, say, Turkmenistan could see:

Risdon Sainsbury Jurman Gersbach
            Luongo  Mooy
Leckie Rogic Irvine Petratos

Irvine especially makes an interesting case for a false 9. His finishing from scrambles is good. I can't recall too many shots from open play as goals. His height and fitness could be an asset and he's good at ghosting in late.

Another note about the Asian Cup (it's going to be an intensive next 9 months) is who may retire and who will come in.

I doubt Kruse or Troisi are going to give up but Jedinak and Milligan just might. A tournament 6 months away would also be attractive for them as a send off. It's not a tournament for testing but it'd be thrilling to see Mabil, McGree and perhaps even Antonis enter the frame. Susnjar is one who should be there if things continue.

When Kev took over from Ange at Victory and inherited his dual false nine system he played Rogic there and it almost killed me. All his creative instincts were nullified. My whinging about the strategy became a bit of a forum meme at the time.

Talk of Antonis making the 23 can't be that farfetched; he was in the squad for the Asian Cup win, after all.

35 is a lot of players

hopefully extra players in problem positions then
I guess we will probalby have 1 extra GK and 11 extra outfield players

on top of the last 23 I'd like to see these 11

karacic, golgol, folami, maclaren, arzani, mcgree, mabil, atkinson, antonis, chapman, gersbach

basically a bunch of extra strikers cbs and rbs with a few standouts as well
