La gazette tactique has done another video and this one is the best so far i think. Really highlights our poor decision making(Risdon) and how we played ourselves into trouble (Norway,Columbia) Goes on to show the good choices made and the difference it makes in bypassing the opposition midfield. Really enjoying their work(shame it's not in English) Kate Cohan used to do some really interesting analysis and i'd love for her or anybody to do an Aussie version of La gazette tactique. I'll chuck in the Youtube link as well if anyone has trouble opening(Decentric) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M5-oPaLC6n4

juric's movement is interesting. Wish they did one on kruse and maclaren
Juric loves to join the midfield. Very different striker to nabbout and maclaren. I wish he could finish that tiny bit more precisely

video really highlights ryans ability to break down a highpress by cutting out all the numbers committed with a pinpoint diagonal long ball

These videos are awesome even though I don’t speak French. Would love to see one on Luongo and one on Leckie.

Defensive tactic https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U4Yq5Dywg98Tomi Juric movement https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ISuOyp6FgY One of the things I'm not sure it suggested, as I have a bit of French, is the onus should be on the players off the ball to open viable passing lanes. At times, the likes of Jedinak and Mooy, weren't moving into effective space by shaking their markers through checking. That is , feinting one way and moving in a different, desired direction to open the most viable passing lane possible. Checking done well, shakes markers. It is often not the passer's fault for an intercepted ball, but his teammates. They should be providing the passer with options before he receives the ball.

+xis it me or has rogics first touch turned to absolute dogshit I've thought recently he is taking more bad, trampoline type touches than four years ago. It is perplexing at this stage of his career.

+x+xis it me or has rogics first touch turned to absolute dogshit I've thought recently he is taking more bad, trampoline type touches than four years ago. It is perplexing at this stage of his career. I think it is to do with playing in the SPL too long, he has more space when he receives the ball and mistakes or bad touches aren't punished as much. Led to him becoming way more relaxed and sloppy when he receives the ball.

Watching that video I really hope Juric is fit enough. No other striking option we have offers what he does in general play.

Fist thing that stood out for me too. Mooy is in open space yet Rogic dwells too long on the ball. Then on top of that he passes the ball in behind him.

Just received my Sainsbury away kit from dhgate. Ordered Rogic from a different seller and this is how they compare: Both cosy around $15 and took under 20 working days to arrive. Rogic : numbers are gold which look nice but not official. Emblem is Australia football like at shops. Shade of green perfect and the diagonal stripe is stuck on. Sainsbury: numbers are green which is official. Emblem is Australia as worn by the players on the pitch but the emblem is a smaller patch and the animals and state emblems aren't exactly good looking compared to the Australia football patches in the factory. The diagonal stripe is part of the jersey material. It's less bright than the Rogic one but at least it won't wash off over time. All in all happy with both for 15. I think I'll order some more from seller number one. Don't waste your time with gold jerseys. They send a Brazil yellow and it's horrible. Away kit is the way to go. They might have other emblems in their factory. One can request jersey name and number and perhaps even patches. They seem to be made to order and could even have two piles or shirts to get rid of and you simply get what you're given. https://m.de.dhgate.com/product/2017-2018-giovanni-dos-mexico-santos-soccer/406347959.html#s1-1-1;searl|0625107090

So the roller coaster is over. Asian cup not far away. How might the squad look? Of course there's time to improve at club level but I hope it's along the lines of:
Ryan Jones Langerak
Risdon Karacic Sainsbury Burgess Susnjar Spiranovic Behich Gersbach
Mooy Luongo Irvine Rogic Jedinak Petratos
Arzani Leckie Nabbout Juric Folami Maclaren
Hopefully someone will come from nowhere in top form. Goodwin, Hrustic, Ikon, Jeggo, Pasquali?

So... Who warrants a move to a bigger club after their world cup showing?
Ryan - No, stay put at Brighton, and impress there.
Risdon - Yes, showed his engine is a diesel albeit running lower horsepower, can run all day. Russian teams interested, would like him in Holland or Belgium. I'd still prefer to see him each week in Aus.
Sainsbury - More yes than no. I'd like to see him go to a top tier Dutch,German, Turkish or Belgian team. However I think he may be heading towards the Championship.
Milligan - Probably is worthy of a move, but no point, he is a quality act wherever he goes. Hope he has a great future outside of football.
Behich - Yes, a Turkish upgrade would be my ideal aspiring move for Aziz, really took it up a notch this WC.
Jedinak - No, no point regardless, hopefully Villa sort their shit out and Mile takes them back to the EPL.
Mooy - Yes, to an extent. saw signs of fatigue in the last match, but his overall showing is definitely worthy of a move to an Everton, Southampton or West Ham.
Rogic - Yes, was our most influential attacking weapon, 5 year deal at Celtic means nothing. has another good season 15m for him to Southampton next summer.
Leckie - No, in the perfect place for him atm.
Nabbout - probably, but no. Play well for Uruwa for a few seasons please.
Kruse - No, Bochum likes him, he likes Bochum.
Irvine - No.
Juric - No
Arzani, Yes 100%

September October November have friendly opportunities.
September appears to have only one UEFA nations league day while the week after has a friendly slot. Germany play Peru.
October appears to have two UEFA days whole November has one. There should be an opportunity for a European opponent. What does Arnold want? I think we might end up with games in the middle east to prepare for the Asian Cup.
Just seen Peru also facing Netherlands and the Dutch have a Belgium friendly set up. Maybe we can go through the Hungarian ticketing headache again?

Jordan have set up October friendlies against Albania and Croatia. We have 10 weeks until the September friendlies. That's a year in the eyes of the FFA.
I'd prefer a European stay but UEFA nations league is on early September so no one is available. It'd be great to get some middle eastern opposition on European soil. Perhaps Bahrain, Oman or Uzbekistan.
I expect well do another Dubai camp and play one or two games in the region. I don't expect Australia to come home.

There's been some talk about a Cahill farewell if he retires. We played Paraguay in Australia in 2006 as a farewell for some players, didn't we? Was it Vidmar, Popovic and Skoko?

Yea Paraguay in Brisbane was a farewell. Maybe with the League of Nations we get another South American team? Or an African side?

Just crazy. Finished a business English course today at a company. Sometimes I get gifts. I've received laser pens and USB sticks over the years but today my 8 person group bought me a 1991 Socceroos training jacket. Just insane how special this jacket is. I've got lots of Kits and the Navy jacket but this one with green, gold and white and a embroided coat of arms is very special.
I'm normally not too happy about being pampered but I worked pretty hard in this course and taught them a lot of good stuff. They obviously earn well there and split amongst 8 is peanuts.
There's a card on the tag mentioning the 74 story and then the 80s and 90s struggles. A black and white photo of Farina wearing this jacket in a warm up is also on the tag.

I teach and it's special when students show their appreciation. I'm guessing that you talk about the Socceroos a bit then in class!

Yeah I wore my 2010 Edition Socceroos training jacket to the company a few times. It's a company but casual clothing. They were always quite curious and I'd teach them a lot of words to help them finish those tricky sentences about the world cup and football.
