Lowy = Mugabe.

Came to power and everyone was hopeful.
Kicked out ethnics he didn't like.
Stuck around too long, crushed dissenters.
Horrible mismanagement.
Finally thrown out after too much damage was done.

Except the part about countless innocents butchered while holding on to power etc.

I see where you're going there but that is an awful comparison and a huge over-reach. Hitler also fits the bill on that criteria too.

Its a football competition.

Football festers in state of flux.
.
.
.
Just when you think the game might be making some headway you have certain groups, allegedly with the help of FFA, trying to derail a proper, well meaning, well thought out process — agreed by all the parties — that has been put into place with the betterment of the sport in mind.
It is madness and smacks of self preservation.
In my 46 years in journalism, some 40 years of it covering this great sport of ours, I have seen many ups and downs, many moments and decisions that have defied logic and wanted me to bang my head against a brick wall in utter frustration.
This is one of those times.

So how can the local football communities in Canberra, NT and the north coast start petitioning their local association to not block the change and prolong our sports suffering.
They need to know that being blackmailed by the FFA is not an option the public accepts!
Locals need to be bombarding them with calls and emails to make it clear no blocks shall be placed to progress.

It is a little hard not having the report to view ourselves but one can only hope that the committee after a long and consultative process could come up with some decent measures to start re-building our code from the ground up

Reading on TWG that ACT and NT state feds are 2 of the FFA dissenters to the working group findings.

I live in one of those 2 areas but if that is the case its a clear example of why this needs to be fixed. That 2 of the demographically smallest member feds can wield so much power is beyond belief. there needs to be a weighting system based on member numbers or something. I know that means the more populous states will have more power but if thats where more people are so be it.

The whole state fed concepts is broken anyway. Scrap the lot and introduce regions that are overseen by the national body without a second layer of unnecessary state feds.

It seems to me, just perhaps, that the 442 torch and pitchfork community may have lost sight of a couple of minor points.

This isn't an FFA process that's been underway.  It's a FIFA circus.  They get to write the final summary.
FIFA run it, rule it, print it.  Maybe even release it, if they choose to.

There's only one FFA observer (no vote) and it isn't Lowy or whathisname CEO.  They aren't running anything

If there's no agreement by the parties present then FIFA move to arbitration.  They decide and implement what they see as best meeting their desired outcome.
What's wrong with you lot?  We all trust FIFA right??  Reeeeeelaaaaaxxx.

FFA have been given ample opportunity to provide their own version of the required reform.
They failed and in turn forfieted their right to a say.

I think in your haste to attack everyone here constantly you got confused and forget that the parties present in the working group HAVE agreed to something to be put in place.

The FFA is bargaining with the smallest federations to block this agreement from passing in a month or two when the Northern bloody Territory can decide the way forward for football in Australia

Despite them voting on the 4 members of the working group

Seems to me more of a chance of P&R being bought in if FIFA are running things for a while.

Might cost some lobster, but would be worth it.

Football Federation Australia (FFA) today acknowledged the completion and submission of the report of the Congress Review Working Group (CRWG) to FIFA and the AFC.

The report was the culmination of seven weeks of extensive consultation by the CRWG, and included input from other stakeholders in the football community.
The CRWG was independently chaired by Judith Griggs and comprised two A-League Club representatives, four Member Federation representatives, a PFA representative, and a representative of the FFA Board.

From the outsetFFA has supported expansion of its Congress to reflect the evolution of football in Australia and balance the interests of each part of the game, including significant movement towards gender equality at all levels of governance.

FFA has also embraced the need for a new A-League governance and operating model that benefits the whole of football. At the commencement of the CRWG process, the independent FFA Board agreed on a number of founding principles that it considered to be in the best interests of the game.

These guiding principles, which were submitted to the CRWG, included:
  • a bigger and broader membership in line with international benchmarks
  • embedded and genuine gender equality, from the FFA Board down through all football institutions in Australia
  • the immediate admission of Special Interest Groups (SIGs)
  • a balanced Congress which reflects the significance and contribution of community and professional football
  • clear delineation between the role of Congress and the responsibilities of an independent FFA board
FFA Chairman Steven Lowy AM said that FFA is committed to working to ensure the governance of the game continues to evolve in the best interests of the whole of football.

“FFA has been supportive of the CRWG process from the beginning and is committed to working constructively with all stakeholders. There are many elements of the report which are positive steps and wholly supported by the FFA Board. However, there are also some crucial aspects of the report which the FFA Board does not believe are in the best interests of the game and are inconsistent with its guiding principles,” he said.

FFA totally rejected any suggestion that it has sought to interfere with the work of the CRWG or pressure the decision-making of stakeholders.

“There have been some media reports that suggest FFA has sought to unduly influence the work of the CRWG. These claims are completely false. FFA has always encouraged all stakeholders to openly debate and carefully consider these important issues particularly given the inevitable difficulty of only having some Member Federations on the CRWG,” concluded Lowy.

FFA remains committed to working constructively with FIFA, AFC and all the stakeholders to produce the best outcome for the game as a whole.

A copy of the FFA Board’s guiding governance principles submitted to the CRWG is available here.

Avoid jail time for what exactly?

Could be any number of things. Fraud? Misappropriation of funds? Corruption? Giving and/or receiving bribes? All of the above?
Could add up to a pretty substantial case if evidence exists and can be obtained.
Particularly interesting is that the FFA have continually refused to release records relating the the failed 22 WC bid. The bid used government funding and if those funds were used inappropriately (eg: to buy votes), then that could be a pretty serious situation.

So have FFA even shown their accounting books yet? If not then agree this is something fishy.... maybe they use FFA as a method for tax write off? Or paying overseas 'friends' via international games and training camps.
