+xReserve grade 34-0 leaders at half-time. I admit that I was sceptical about appointing Dr Mock reserve grade coach, but the side is playing smart, all of that calculus and physics study has paid off.. (No beers so far I am just channelling the vibe). Nice way to start the day... C'mon boys let's finish the flat trackers season !!!...

Looks like Farmer and Turpin are playing reserves, so unchanged 17.
(Unless Farmer has an identical twin brother with the same name?)

+x+x+xI am busting!!! Hurry up 4pm tomorrow!!!... Biggest game of the season so far. A win puts us in the 8. After the Canberra game we need to take this opportunity. I recon that we are slightly underrated because most fans and experts don't expect an unfashionable side to improve this much season to season. And improve during the season. Sexton, Xerri, Hayward, Tracey and Hopoi have all been added since round 1 and have improved the team. I think that they are slightly overrated, but they have had a few good performances this season. In the forwards it is important for our pack to match them. Overall I think that the spines are evenly matched, we have the edge in the outside backs, and fitness. I am genuinely optimistic and will be disappointed if we lose. And I have stocked up on the Japanese Dark Lager. Taste test today successful. Yes I am optimistic too - 7th if we win Agree - the Saints first half must be a blueprint to hang in there with their forwards defensively and tighten in the middle. Moses kicks will have us coming of our line a fair bit . So I hope we shift it a bit in early in tackles and not have Burton kicking always off our 30m line after 5 single hit ups!! So important to win otherwise we slip back again which has happened after a tight loss eg Canberra , Souths, Melbourne Siva is a big is unit on their left and a worry but also a weakness under a high ball or low ball- thus , I wonder whether CC will have Wilson on the right wing (where he was last week and on other occasions s well )with Crighton. OR maybe shift him left and re partner Crighton and Kiraz to aim up to Siva given that also sexton and Preston but sometimes Salmon will be inside. I think Sivo is on their left up against our right Kiraz and Critter IMO. Kiraz will handle him. An opportunity for Critter to nail some grubber kicks in behind Sivo. Sivo likes to jamb in defence a few grubbers in behind him will have him second guessing. Wilson outside of Xerri should work as Xerri can put his winger away. Slightly shaky I defence, but not much worse than Fox. Parra has a big bench, we want to turn the game into a test of fitness. High completions, good kicks, good chase, fast linespeed is essential. The Dragons game was also the game that I think could be similar. The injury to Bird was a factor in that game.

I am getting good vibes about the Parra game, things might be going to pan out as I expect .
Taaffe, Hayes and Turpin named in reserve grade. I never expected these guys to play, this isn't 100% but it is an indicator.
This should mean Hutch and Farmer are still in the mix.
My side would be - Lock - Hopoi, Bench - Hayward, Curran, Morrin and Farmer.
Looking at Farmer he seems to be going OK to me, all I have noticed is that he sometimes drops off on kick chases.
More middle forwards means Curran can spend more time on the left edge. My game plan is have Moses tackling 2-3 big bodies per set, one after another, work over their right edge defence and take the edge off his running game.
I also think that it is important to take the edge off their size advantage and make the forwards contest more even, especially in the first 20 mins.
Of course Cirro's plan could be different to my plan.

+xPoor Tigers fans and players are where we were last season or worse. I did think that they might come good next season, but now I am not sure. Move the Tigers to Perth. Wouldn’t even need to change the name.
Then we could take all the Cambletown juniors.

Hard to know if Walsh stayed down deliberately.
But no real evidence that he did, probably unlikely that he would do that if there was a risk of being ruled out HIA.
I am not even sure how much contact there was.
I don't remember seeing a slow mo, i would need to see it frame by frame
Hopefully the bunker checked that before the send off decision.

+x...and I'm only asking... Cos I can... - one side is saying Walsh was targeted and taken out of the game.... - could the other side with Walsh passing his HIA say he stayed down longer than he needed to get a result???... Definitely the fact that it was Walsh did impact on the send off, a similar shot on a forward might not even be 10 in the bin. A shot on a kicker normally would be 10 in the bin. The problem is there is a big difference between 10 in the bin and a send-off. Often refs factor in that an attacker slipped and dropped in height in a split second.

+x+xIn the name of consistency and precedent that may be set my question is... Is it a send off if the tackle is on - - Anyone but else but Walsh???.... - A forward???... Even in NRLol forceful contact to the head is usually 10 mins .. Did Funicane get sent for his 'recklwss tacle' a couple of years back that was the beginning of this stuff??? Asking as I can't remember... And I don't the defector was reckless... Someone broke Walsh's jaw earlier in the season and wasn't sent. I understand the send off because it looked spectacular and it initially looked like Walsh was badly hurt. However, in the end Walsh passed his HIA. The bunker reviewing a slow motion replay should be able to decipher intentional/ unintentional. I understand why players are aiming for the kickers chest, the legs are off-limits and they don't want to collide with the hips. It ruined the game, but there were lots of things the defector could have done differently. I am not inclined to defend Roosters players or defectors, and I didn't think that the guy was good enough to play centre at SOO level. But it ruined the contest for fans particularly the crowd at the game. Anyway on to Mythbuster Monday. A like, but you didn't answer the question...

+x+x+xI think you’re applying the situation in a SOO to NRL and the rest of the game in general. A player gets sent off early in a SOO you can pretty well put a line through the team because of the class of players on the field. In NRL there’s been plenty of 12 man wins over the years and still will be. Current NRL Dogs and the Panthers might be able to win with 12. Those wins in the past were not for 70 mins against a good side with the current speed of the game. Under the 5 metre rule, unlimited interchange or wrestle-mania it is possible. QLD should have won by at least 50, especially with HO gasping for air playing an unfamiliar role in the middle. Sure this circumstance will not happen often, but most of the time it is game over, unless all NRL squads get to the fitness levels of the Dogs and Panthers. What is the problem with the rule change? Most of the time it will result in a 13 on 13 contest for 60 mins or 3/4 of the game. Most teams concede at least 1 try with a guy in the bin for 10 mins. If a player did the wrong thing that player deserves to be punished, not his team mates and the fans of the club. In this case the guy is an inexperienced and fairly poor defender, no surprise that his technique faltered in the heat of the battle. Him starting at centre was a poor selection as was not having Burton on the bench. The NSW coach got what he deserved. Yep it was ludicrous entering the game with the 1 flaw that has cost you the series the last 2 years.... I honestly thought it was all a charade and Burton would be named in the last hour before kick off. If it wasn't the plan, you have to question if the NSW coach has any brains at all I'll add Madge to the list named n your honour... 😉 That said... You're right... it happens occasionally... no cover for backs on the bench, or any second rowers that could possibly cover centre with some level of competence was a Freddy like fekk up... That and that said... When Rugby Joe was sent of after 7 mins using a replacement for centre coverage immediately and leaving the forwards short would be reasonable either...
