+x+xCracker signing but how on earth are you fitting him in the cap? Troisi, Leroy George, Rhys Williams, Donachie, Sanchez, Theoharous, Austin, Nigro, McGilp and Waring are all gone from the cap ledger so there's so much left to spend we should be disappointed if all we got is Niedermeier, Roux, Brown and Ansell. Should be loads left when you add all that up. Going for the Sydney tactic possibly? A starting XI on high wages with subs and reserves on minimum?

http://www.tfc.info/ola-toivonen-rejoint-le-melbourne-victoryAfter two seasons under the colors of Toulouse Football Club, for which he has played 58 games in Ligue 1, Ola Toivonen will now wear the Melbourne Victory jersey.Quarter-finalist of the last world with his Swedish selection, Ola Toivonen will not evolve a third season of rank with the jersey Toulouse on the shoulders. Author of seven achievements in Ligue 1 Conforama during his stay in the heart of the Pink City, the 32-year-old striker is now preparing to discover a new continent. With the Melbourne Victory, titled in A-League in 2018, it is now in the heart of the Australian championship that the great striker Scandinavian will speak.

Hence why we lose some of our highly rated youngsters. Or some of our sqauddies .

Not that I don't think this is a good signing, but looking over his soccerway stats he didn't manage any goals in Ligue 1 last season in his 23 appearances, and although he didn't score in his 12 EPL games in his loan stint at Sunderland, he did get one past Man City in the League Cup, and there are a few tweets from Toulouse fans replying to the official announcement that didn't seem too sad to lose him. On the other hand, he used to bang them in for PSV (61 Eredivisie goals and 13 in Europe) and he just played all five of Sweden's games at the World Cup two months ago, scoring against bloody Germany (as well as a crucial goal against France that got them to Russia) amassing 64 caps as striker during a time when a fellow named Zlatan also had a shout at the role, so maybe the problem is more with Toulouse than Toivonen. I reckon he'll smash it here. If he clicks with Honda we're winning the ACL.

Milligan was marquee though, but Geria would have taken up a lot of space as well.

I've always been of the opinion that A-League clubs have their best shout when they invest heavily in their starting XI with peripheral cash spent on squaddies. IMO, I reckon if clubs spend big on say, 14 first teamers (with two of those being marquee players) then that leaves you 9 positions to fill with talented U21's (or even U19's) on the minimum wage or close to it. So using that logic, you've got nine U21's on say, $60k/season (I think this figure is close to the minimum wage mandated by the PFA, rounded it for easy maths) that gives you a total spend of $540k. With a salary cap of $2,928,000, this leaves you with $2,388,000 to spend on 12 first teamers, which works out to $199k/season for each first team player. Then of course you get concessions for things like long serving players and the like, so the average can be even higher. Obviously my first preference would be to have no salary cap restrictions whatsoever, but maybe we can make the cap work a bit better for us in the short term until it is abolished.

I do like that we've been getting attacking players that like to have a decent crack from long range. Provided Troisi isn't having a crack @ Row Z and is on the wing, it'll be odd to see us scoring goals like that after so many years of Berisha ball (if we do indeed score more goals like that) -PB

Yeah not a huuuge fan of the new kit. I mean, I don't hate it, but I am not sure I'll rush out to buy one. Might get another season out of the Season 3 kit

Thomas Deng/Brown - Georg - Ansell/Deng - Roux Hope/Valeri - Antonis Kosta - Honda - Troisi OlaUnderlined Visa players (is Roux a visa?). So possibly another to come. DM? Winger? Feel like Deng deserves to start somewhere on the pitch and would love to see Hope start, but think it may only be hope and Kev will stick with Valeri. Though at least if he's on the bench we know he will come on and change things up, same with Kenny, with Mr Dependable aka Starting XI by January: Leigh Broxham to cover the back line.
Not convinced by Troisi which is even more depressing that he's marquee. At least Kosta will run all game, even when he's in a funk. Feel the XI is almost there for a good tilt again, obviously injuries will be key, especially with questions over Georg's history. Should have some goals though with Honda pulling the strings, which should take pressure off Troisi and obviously will lay some on a plate for Ola. Not to mention bagging a few himself!

Storm Roux has dual NZ and Australian citizenship so don't think he counts as a visa player.

Yeah going to have to see the kit in person before making a decision. Was hoping for something fantastic as wanted to buy one for my daughter (obviously being 6 months shes far too small) for a keepsake.

won't be long before its gracing the torsos of junkies on Victoria street. FFS, how hard are simple clean designs. So busy. And the amount of logos and their size FFS. What an eyesore. I know we need sponsors, but would be good sign one big sponsor for one spot rather than fifty shitty sponsors alll over it.

Even something like the vertical stripes on the v, as I said in the kit thread, feels like a change just to keep a graphic designer in a job. The fact the the stripes only serve to break up the v into a semi transparent shape and for a club who aims to be (read this in the voice of Di Piero) unashamedly bold and ambitious, the new V is anything but.

Yeh I'm surprised by two years also. Here's hoping we can maintain fitness and be relatively injury free. First time I've felt really confident about ACL. Need to sure up defense and a DM. -PB
