understandable, never really got into the game. did a bit of this and that, but not much he could do, very close quarters stuff there in the Eredivisie.

No it doesn't, there preseason just starts later and it is why half the world cup players who are already regulars at clubs can take weeks to make the first team again with a late preseason. Let alone someone who literally started his preseason at the end of August after a 2 month break, who needs to learn a new system, isn't the fittest player in the world and doesn't even have a full season of experience under him.

Pulled because he probably would have got himself sent off. He gave away a silly yellow, got elbowed in the head, became a bit angry and nearly got sent off before half time. He was a bit of a non factor as well, but the fear of being sent off is the big reason.
