Khawaja reverse sweeps for 4 and then the next ball is identical and he edges it to short leg. Should have played the reverse sweep again.

We are playing 5 specialist batsmen. Two are not good enough, two are young and look good in parts but have issues, one is a proven test match batsman. We are in trouble.

Khawaja falls to spin again. Bloody hell!

Big problem once Finch goes.. we have four lefties in a row. That is making it so much easier for the bowlers as they can concentrate on the same line. CA has to find a way against picking too many lefties in our top 6. Does anyone else see this as a problem going forward?

Replace Finch with Burns = RH batter

This is now a huge test of character for Marsh. If he passes it he deserves to play out the summer.

Agree. r/hander replacing a r/hander. Still leaves us with the same problem of too many lefties.

True, he is the senior batsman in the team, he needs to set himself to be there until the end of the innings. Runs do not matter hugely at the moment, just not getting out. Not out 120 with Australia getting over 400 would be a massive success.

India's batsman looked good because they played test innings according to the conditions
ie play yourself & take minimum risks = slow scoring & whilst they gave chances looked settled at the crease.

As long as both Marsh brothers, barring a big inning here, don't play and Finch doesn't open I will be happy. Finch perhaps at 5, Head at 4

According to experts on this forum, nothing affects the ball to swing, especially the weather.
So why do we polish one side, why was Warner & co banned, when it doesn't affect the swing?

On lunch and Marsh is beaten by a Bumrah slowie. T20 coming into play there. SOS fails the test of character. That is a hammer blow.. be tuff to survive the follow on now.

At least if we lose by an innings, which seems likely now, the selectors will be forced to make changes.

Must get rid of Shaun Marsh
Must not open with Aaron Finch
Must play 6 specialist batsmen, so no M. Marsh in the top 6

Don't you guys read the forecast, there was always going to be a change today.

"Partly cloudy. Winds northwest to northeasterly 15 to 20 km/h. Milder southerly winds developing over bayside areas by early afternoon and extending inland during the afternoon and evening."

The next two days are going to be only mid 20s with perhaps a little rain.

It is getting hard to watch our cricket team lose so much - and - losing decisively.

For those of of us who follow football, it is analogous to home supporters of Brazil, Italy, Spain, Argentina  or Germany, lose games home and away on a consistent basis.

I agree.

Shaun Marsh, because we have such an inexperienced batting line up, has had so many chances to consolidate.

He isn't good enough at Test level - for whatever reason.

Conversely, I thought Mitch Marsh bowled well in one of his roles as an all rounder.

Knife to the heart DC. We have powerful bowling depth. Not so our batting depth. A real worry. Perhaps take a gamble on young Jason Sangha or Will Pucovski.. Josh Philippe is an exciting talent too. Some young blood to reinvigorate our team.

A few years back after I watched South Africa hammer our team at Bellerive, Handscomb and Renshaw were selected. Both did well.

Handscomb has technical  issues to resolve, before he is selected again.

Renshaw must surely regain the form he had at so young an age. Long term, I think Renshaw is a far better prospect than any  current six  batter we have in this team.

Totally agree. . Renshaw is  22. So still young. I recall saying at the time Handscomb should not have been picked until he fixed his technical flaws. CA kept picking him. Madness.

We bowled something like 150 overs no reverse swing.. India in in its 40th and Bumrah is getting good reverse. that is proof this Kooka is scuffing on this surface.

Bare patches producing deviation springing up almost every over.

Could be even more of  nitemare to bat on second innings.

This is depressing. I just can't understand how our batting techniques are so poor.

Bumrah is the bowler of the series for me. I can't remember the last time I saw an Indian bowling performance this good. He is a nightmare bowler to face.

I dont think Indis will enforce follow on even if given chance.

They'll want bigger holes for Jadeja and to recharge Bumrah.

Wh give Aus the chance of Lyon having a score to defend in the 4th?

The first coach I am sacking is Hick. He does not seem to be able to impress on his charges the need to be patient.. build partnerships.. , knuckle down, own your wicket plus all those other cliches.
