That was something I was wondering about, can CA cancel the contracts of players, or do they need to pay them out?

As I understand they are on 12 month contracts?  If so no paying out. Simply delisted.

You watch Marsh will get a 50 and keep his place. This will in no way improve our chances of saving the game unless he scores a big hundred

Shaun Marsh out for 44,
This must be his last ever test.
Now we will see if Mitch Marsh can do any better.

This is such an important innings for Mitch Marsh I feel. If he fails now will CA abandon their all rounder policy and pick 6 specialist bats? I regard a player that contributes both with bat and ball a great asset to a side as well as giving the team balance.

Mitch Marsh out to a bad shot, back to Sheffield Shield to work out how to be a good enough batsman to bat in the top 6.

Reckon they'll keep him for Sydney if we pick two spinners.

Sydney is no longer a spinners paradise, I doubt we will go with 2 spinners. Maybe they will bring a second one into the squad but he will not play.

They usually do play two spinners here. Last year was first time in three years they did not. The Blues usually pick double spin too. I hope they do  play Agar as he deserves another Test since his 2013 debut in England. Long time between drinks for the leftie tweaker.

If that is the case then that is a kick in the teeth for Agar who is contracted. CA has treated him shabbily in my view. He is a talented all rounder yet seems to always carry the drinks. Why contract a bloke and then make him a passenger?

if we select O'keefe that is basically 2 bowling all rounders which mitigates picking mitch marsh. Especially if O'keefe replaces Hazelwood

Shame Faulkner and Lynn aren't available for test selection. If I was a selector I'd be in their ear trying to convince them to come back

Agar is not even making the WA side, only played 1 of the 6 matches for match figures of 1/69 and not many runs either. Impossible to pick him.

Lyon and to a lesser extent Fawad Ahmed have been the only spinners in Shield cricket to have decent records. Fawad Ahmed cleaned up tails in the two matches he played.

Shane Warne suggest D'Arcy Short should be considered based on Big Bash form but concludes to stick with the team as there is no one better.

D'Arcy Short has a first class of 23.57, I want something of what Shane is smoking.

Apparently Bumrah, Shami and Sharma have taken the most ever wickets by a fast bowling trio in a calendar year.

Yeah - but they went to SA, Eng and Aus in this year.

As for their quality - I am glad that Warne has finally stopped talking about the Aus 'World Class Attack' .

Now all the talk is praising Pat Cummins...

Warne should really know about the MRF pace foundation - he seems not to despite Lillee and McGrath having a huge involvement.

And I am speechless he isn't aware of Abbas - let alone that Steyn is back fit...

You are being generous calling SOK an all rounder. Agar has more talent in one finger that SOK has has in his entire body.

Regardless of who may or may not make the side, my hat is off to Kholi and his team. They came into the match with a plan, a plan that had everyone questioning the pitch, calling it a batsman paradise which it never was. They knew Australia would struggle to score 600 runs (doesn't matter who you put in the side including Smith and Warner). They learnt from their mistakes from the first innings 1st test where they chased wide deliveries and gave their wickets away. They played patiently against poor bowling that never attacked the stumps, and declared at 7/450 (Australia couldn't bowl them out with their stupid plan of playing to Kholi's ego of chasing deliveries which he didn't.) Their bowlers simply made the batsmen play shots by aiming at the wickets and so far 8 lbw and bowled, compared to Australia who got 3, 2 bowled by Cummins and 1 by Lyons. They outplayed us in all aspects of the game including captaincy and that is why they are No1 in the world. That is why we will still be No5 regardless if we win the 4th test.

If fingers are to be pointed it is the same finger that is always pointed over the last year against SA and India ie the Openers, Marsh Bros, Hazlewood and Starc. If you want to be better cast aside all not just one or 2 and hope. IMO there are 6 positions up for grabs, not just 1 or 2. Head is our leading run scorer, he is fine, Khawaja is inconsistent but fine, Paine is a reluctant captain and is only captain because of stupidity, as a keeper batsmen is fine. Cummins is head and shoulders above the others, though I thought he was injured for the first 2 tests but he is great now. He and Lyons are the only players currently IMO that deserve their millions per year.

Cummins performances with the willow in this series are almost all rounder status. In fact Timmy and our bowlers are pretty much scoring as many runs as our so called specialists. How embarrassed does that make you useless lot feel?

Is it too much to ask if Cummins can open the batting as well as opening the bowling?

No way is Head long term. His technique is as loose as a cannon. Did you not hear the 7 coms dissecting his technical flaws. Take a look at his dismissals in this series. Not once has the bowler got him. He has handed them his wicket. Other than today when he played on. He does not average @36 or so for nothing in FC cricket. Keeper/batsmen are as rare as hen's teeth. I admire Timmy for putting up his hand in a difficult time. His coach does as well.

I can not believe the improvement in one test by Pat Cummins. People were calling for his head after his mediocre second test. I among them. He is back to the sort of pace and intimidation that made him an overnite star as a teenager. Unlike in those early days he now has another gear. He can bowl accurate seam up as well anyone going round.
