+xWelcome back Nancy....We weren’t sure if you’d been to a Dman gig & failed to get out aliveWatching the replay game right now on Fox between Penrith & Manly from 2018.... Manly win the game, but sheesh.... C Crichton played horrendously I hope this kid does well for us If she went to a Dman gig she probably has been sleeping for 3 months.

National Lampoon did a brilliant album years ago and performed it live..."Lemmings"...it was a parody of Woodstock with the theme every one was going there to commit mass suicide...it has a certain true ring to it....it preceded Jonestown. Cast included John Belushi (who does a brilliant Joe Cocker parody and later would duet with Joe), Chevvy Chase, Christopher Guest etc.. Link to it...very funny in patches and dated in others. Christopher Guest (Best in Show..Spinal Tap etc) is great as the announcer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tuBhwEgi8qU

There goes Khawaja just when you think he's cooked. That's the frustrating thing, it's always in him. I still think he's a problem but I guess a nice problem to have.
Anyway, he's on the plane along with Warner (politics pending) Harris, Burns, Smith, Head, Patterson. I'd say they're locked. Probably another what....? 2-3 batsman spots, is that too many?
Shield form will decide them. Luberwhatever, Handscombe, Stonis (though probably playing for all rounder), I wouldn't forget about Bancroft either if he can rack some in Shield, probably a few others around the joint.
Head's the batsman of the summer for me because he's looked better the more the summer's progressed. Probably started it as favourite to be one of the temps, but he's starting to look really solid. He's really worked on his patience. Someone in the middle order to save a collapse or build on a big start.

Khawaja also surprised me, but I think his next few digs will tell the tale. Everyone will study the Indian bowling plan and know where to bowl to him, he will know that. Sometimes after a tough period, one good dig is all that is needed to get the confidence and focus back. For good players the bad times make them more determined, and they know what they need to work on, They also have confidence that they have what it takes. Stark and Khawaja always had ability and a touch of class. What is needed is not consistency, not easy when playing at the highest level, but that is what it takes.

I think the Indian bowling plan was just bait. Just about every bad dismissal he's had this summer has been waving the bat out, leaving huge gaps between bat and body/pads, he's even played on. I think it's just an extension of the laziness and indifference he shows in the field creeping into the rest of his game, as it always would. First thing he's got to do is look at his game and start putting in big in the field, he's not a good fielder, never will be a good fielder, but he can be an enthusiastic fielder and that'll flow on to help his head at the crease. Second thing he should do is take a leaf out of Head's book, Head was getting into trouble with the lazy cut shot, so he just stopped doing it, pretty well stopped cutting at all, which is the way to do it until you get on top of it and then you can bring it back. If Khawaja just starts ignoring the bait, they'll stop putting it out there and that'll be the end of that bowling plan.

Starc has generally been pretty consistent. He was up and down when he started then Warne riled him up and he turned into the worlds most dangerous bowler and remained so for quite some time. This summer's been the first real consistent dip since those early days.
I wonder if the fact that this Test he's bowled quicker than he has all summer has something to do with the improved performance. Maybe he tried thinking too much, maybe he's at his best when he just grips and rips without thinking too much about it.
He was topping out 150k plus yesterday, first time of the summer - and he looked gooooooooooooooooooood.

Tony, I doubt there is any truth in your source. The Bulldogs cannot be punished for what Napa did when he was with the rorters.

If Khawaja just starts ignoring the bait, they'll stop putting it out there and that'll be the end of that bowling plan. That is why I don;t think he is fully out of the woods. Fielding has always been his weakness, he should try to improve, Batting woes are a bit of a lack of focus and the Indians bowling a line which dried up this scoring. He needs a way of safely working a single off that "outside off" line, that is what he should practise and probably play against spin in general. With a plan and intent to score, he may do better than simply being in 2 minds. The other option is to keep leaving the ball, but pushing a single is better. On Starc it was great to see his pack back up there, I think we have a good bowling attack that can generate serious pace. If the Poms prepare some green seaming wickets, lets see how they like a bit of pace to go with that. We would need to step down the pace a bit and get good control, then occasionally let fly. Facing 150k on a fast seaming wicket is no fun for anyone.

Asked if he thought Canterbury had been given the short end of the stick, Greenberg barely flinched and argued Napa became their responsibility when they recruited him. ''It might be (harsh), but it's not my primary concern,'' he said. ''It's a bit like the Cowboys - it's a little harsh on them that they are missing a player that's never laced on a boot for them. That's the real difficulty with recruitment and retention.
NO!!!... Its nothing like the Cowboys, you massive twat...

#todd&comustgo... #dismantlethearlc... Overall the NRL is on the right track with higher penalties. But the Napa incident happened when he was playing for the Roosters, so just strip them some competition points this season, and strip their title from last season, .. that will send a strong message Todd that is if your want to be harsh, fair and fearless*. * we know you are not that fearless.

They've got an easy template to follow - start it in the first week of school holidays. Done, finals and all in the last week of school holidays. They're about two weeks long.

I am sitting back watching the NRLol circus swing into full performance with the head clown Greenberg at the helm. Surely if the NRLol want to take action against Napa, then Canterbury have the right to demand compensation from the NRLol. The cracks are appearing and Greenberg is being found out that he really has NO idea what-so-ever and is way beyond his depth in the position he holds. It's time for Todd Greenberg to step down.

The farce that is T20 crocket getting the respect, ratings and crowds it deserves... Anyone know much about this stupid 20 minute game the AFL is planning? The Gatorade game-changer where scores are double in last 3rd???...

Agree they are on the right track, though they've had ample chances to get tough over the last decade... Tough Talking Toddy and his predecessor has been complicit in this summers shenanigans through a complete and utter lack of balls, and fostering a duplicitous culture where the games elite are treated differently to the rest... To the point of being lauded as a hero for drink driving and speeding...

I just don't know where the line is ODF.. 'The Line of Disrepute' that is... Is it a data driven insight eg a drop in rating or participation ?... Does it depend on how outraged the media are or are not? Is it Tough Talking Toddy and ARLolC personal view? Is South's line in the same place as everyone else's? What the hell have they done about Scott Bolton? What the hell can we do about Michael Bolton?

I also don't understand Greenberg's ruling on clubs buying players by saying that the clubs should be aware of who they are purchasing. So he is saying there is a "caveate emptor" and the club must be aware of the players past history. Any misdemeanors in the players past (including social media embarrassments), certainly wouldn't be offered to a new employer. If it happened 5 or 10 years ago, tough, it's over, who cares. The only thing bringing the game into disrepute is Greenberg's stupidity.
