+xPlayer. Have to be a “free agent” of course If he needs a trial he must not have much of a record .....doesn't mean he will be crap... but does mean he is someone with questions over his ability .

+x@Roar in me ... Roar are being pretty tight lipped over the process but I think that’s how it ends. Candidates CVs including coaching and playing records are a matter of public record and there’s no need to dwell on that (I can only imagine how much time JAs interview took on “that penalty” lol), the consultants they’ve hired are doing background and reference checking (question #1 “is he a twat”?) and the finale is the shortlist present their solution back to the panel. Sounds reasonably similar to your thinking aye .. So should Miron start worrying about not hearing anything yet?

There’s always a reason why a player isn’t contracted to a club at this time of the year, injury, reputation, etc so I wouldn’t get hopes up we’ve signed Messi.
And “trialist” is a standard term, we even use it at junior level before players have registered - it triggers insurance cover if needed and that’ll be much the same at professional level.

Doubt any one of real value or skill would want to come to Brisbane at the moment, kind of stuck with whoever wants to come until the coach is decided I guess.

Yeah, and honestly we could do with a striker, 10, DM and two CB’s so one player ain’t making that much difference.
They just need to get on with the coach hiring .... no reason why it can’t be announced before the next home game ffs

Don’t understand why we’d be trialling players before we had a coach.

Charles Lokoli-Ngoy only got his medical clearance yesterday according to a (pay walled) Courier Mail article.
After D’Aggers inept performances this season that’s a minor blessing, at least he now has some competition although I’m not convinced either of them is the right partner to DWH.

@ clockwork
Because “they can” or “why not” or “what difference does it make” or half a dozen other reasons why you would, including a squad that’s getting pretty thread bare with Mauk, Holman, O’Toole, Avraam, Taggart, Hingert all out or gone for the season - that’s 30% of the squad unavailable for the last quarter of the season and before any further suspensions or injuries kick in.
What’s the downside? If he’s any good the new coach can make a call to keep him. If he’s not, he can make up the numbers in training for a month or two, and because he’s a “trialist” Roar can release him at a moments notice.
The only possible downside would be if he denies a youth player an opportunity but we’ve got more than enough space in the team each week to give everyone a go.
If things get much worse we’ll be like that Italian Serie C side putting 7 kids out lol.

All seems so reactive. We never seem to do anything till it’s too late. We get caught out by Aloisi resigning, by Avraam leaving, by Taggart leaving, by Mauk injury - FFS we haven’t even bothered to replace Holman. Yet we are now trialing players who might play a couple of games at best.
Play Nigro at striker. I barely care. Just make this season end.

Worse case scenario - the triallist is awesome and someone pinches him off us.

Maybe it's a gun player from Europe that is disenchanted with the football world and would like a change. I know it's not the case, but you can dream :)

I am not worried ....I have the famous "flying lizard" formation primed and ready to go ....we will win the league with it !!!..........................................................only small hitch is it requires a few minor signings to be made .............................Lionel Messi, Martial, Pogba .....etc etc

Normally the cleanout starts with a new coach appointment. How many Roar players will end up at Western Union ?

Fairly certain he would've been in Perth, as he's been acting assistant to DD.

Marco article confirming Sherman is leaving to be replaced by Martin Bullock in the interim. Heading interstate to link up with another A-League club. Also concerning that is again re-iterates that Davies won't be applying for the job, but is still in contention to take. over. Why the hell would we be considering someone who has taken himself out of the running for the role? Obviously he knows he isn't up to it yet. Hopefully the club just putting his name in there, while not actually considering him, to make him feel good.

Lokoli-Ngoy and Powell promoted to the squad. Hopefully they both get a run. Kristensen and Lopez also in and Caletti out, so a different looking midfield.

Yeah, we definitely need to play TK more and Calletti less in preparation for the future <sarc>. I am totally at a loss to figure out what Davies objective is at the moment? To give everyone a game, perhaps?
