The players scores in the WA inning 107*.66.2,9,7,2,8,9,8,2*
Copeland joins Bird with a 4 wicket haul. Exactly the type of bowler the Duke should suit.

Tasmania dominating SA
Queensland in a position from which they should not lose
Western Australia batting very slowly and NSW might be a bit on top.

It is. We have Warner, Burns, Harris, Bancroft and Renshaw fighting for two or three spots in the Ashes squad.. Renshaw is the long shot given his bad form has continued.
They might only take two openers and Khawaja could open if required.

I am not taking Harris. Renshaw remains a probability given his prowess against the Dukes.. his big year in 2017/18 at home and in England.

Most definitely.  Copes already has 300 FC wickets and is having one of his best seasons. Is like fine wine.

Bancroft looks hesitant against spin. He should be throwing the kitchen sink at SOK.

I am noticing that all the decks are mostly devoid of grass.. unlike the earlier rounds. There should be some reverse swing plus turn later in the game.

Winter and Sayers are swinging the Dukes nicely but the pace is lacking in this Adelaide deck to do much damage.

Silk gone on stroke of lunch. Snails pace by he and Doolan against some accurate bowling on what has to be the most docile deck in the country.

Doolan 148 balls for 25 runs. That is snail pace.

Wade batting #4 for the Tigers.

Interesting to see Edwards is playing as a specialist number 7, a bit unusual

Dont recall him bowling a ball in previous games. He is not a red ball all rounder. Could be handy with the ball in limited overs tho.

Hneriques is the allrounder, Nevill batting at 6 so I guess they can play a specialist batsman at 7.

So Wade has come in at 4, not 6 like he was listed, and has already smashed a half century on a pitch everyone else is not scoring on quickly despite it being seemly easy to bat on.

Lloyd Pope not selected for SA because he had to change his action to bowl darts in the FUCKING BBL and now is struggling to bowl the red ball.

I was listing contenders to the back up batting spot for the Ashes. For me the top 6 of Warner, Burns, Khawaja, Smith, Head, Patterson is pretty well set. Then that group is in contention for the back up batting spot.
It is Bancroft, Harris or Renshaw for the third opener if they take one.
Then that list for the last batting spot.

Not certain any spots are set in stone..even Smith. He will not have played much cricket in 14/15 months. That is the reason CA is running the A tour in conjunction with the WC.

The A tour is a joke, mostly one day games and then a couple of FC games after the Ashes squad will have already been picked. If CA was going to use the A tour as something that would effect selection then there would be more FC games earlier. It seemed like a good idea but I think Paddles is probably it is just going to be used to keep back one day players fit just in case there is an injury that needs to be replaced during the world cup. The squad will be full of players who just miss out of the WC squad, players like Mitch Marsh, Stoinis, Darcy Short, Aston Turner.

Stoinis would have to seriously suck in UAE and India to not make the Aus WC squad after being Aussie's best ODI player for quite some time now.

Short needs to prove himself at intl, but he's been given the chance in India to do just that. 37(37) this morning in the t20i.

Not according to CA public relations people. They say the A tour will have a considerable bearing on who is chosen for the Ashes. It will be used primarily as prep for the test only players such as Tim Paine..possibly Kurtis Patterson too to acclimatise to Pom conditions but is also a chance for the selectors to see how fringe players handle Pom conditions.
