Time for Sydney to ditch Alianz and play at Kogorah pernamently?

If we could buy the ground permanently and turn it into a true rectangular enclosed venue then yes.

Will never happen though.

Kogorah isn't central enough for the SFC fan base though. Great location nonetheless.

Or they could ditch members of the board who have their snouts in the trough.

Still wouldn't cover the massive debt. They aren't making a big enough profit at the moment to cover that. So either they'd have to jack up the costs, or the government will have to cover it.

The Trust had enough money to spend almost 90 million on 2 completely unnecessary giant tv screens just a couple of years ago. Don't let anything Ayres, his Liberal cronies and the corrupt SCG trust say inform your judgement.

Latest financials from the SCG Trust. I think they can service the loan over 35 years which has 40m of interest if they have to.

Good for me tho. ;)

Would suck if you're from northern beaches western sydney or eastern suburbs though.

Depends on the loan size, but I don't know if an organisation that made a $1.6m loss this year and a $1.2m profit the year before, and has only $3m in cash can pay off a $644m loan over 35 years. Even the $85m that has been spent so far without putting seats back in would be pretty difficult to pay.

It has around 100m in revenue last year. This consists of hiring costs (27m), catering (mainly liquor sales) (28m), advertising/sponsorship (15m) and corporate seating (4m) all of which would be expected to increase with a shiny new stadium. Membership fees (27m) may also be increased slightly if necessary to service repayments of 19.5m per year.

The issue is the SCG Trust has other projects on the SCG that it wants to get on with and if it has to pay off the rebuild of the new SFS it won't be able to do the other projects which are more lucrative for it.

Yes, but this is a death trap which they have been allowing people to use. They can't not leave the death trap and go for more lucrative work!

We all know its not a death trap but it doesn't comply with current standards and has quite a number of design issues that make it an inadequate design.

Labor party saying if they win, they will force the SCG Trust to pay for all costs (including the planning and demolition so far) with a loan up to $644m to be paid over 35 years.

For some, this seems reasonable but I can't see how the Trust will be able to run except for hosting a heap of concerts and the like (ruining the pitch) and charging teams much greater prices for using the stadium. This won't be good for football at the SFS.

https://www.smh.com.au/national/nsw/labor-will-force-the-scg-trust-to-repay-644-million-loan-for-stadium-upgrade-20190228-p5110d.html

Maybe they should take half the money and build something half the size?

I agree that Allianz needs to be fixed but after Homebush. Just annoyed that the SCG Trust was able to get their way. I’m expecting that there would be a budget blowout and there would be no money left for Homebush after or the political willpower to fix Homebush dies off.

Confusion surrounding the order continued outside the courtroom with Ms Duggan telling reporters she believed there was no order in place currently preventing diggers and wrecking balls from rolling into the stadium.

But Local Democracy Matters’ solicitor James Ryan conceded that while there was “some ambiguity” surrounding the state-of-affairs he believed the injunction was still in place.

At a press conference with NSW Labor leader Michael Daley this morning, the sound of demolition works was clearly audible as machinery dumped great mounds of concrete and debris in front of the 30-year-old stadium.

“The injunction hasn’t run out yet, you can hear the bashing and smashing and destruction and crashing behind us now, so there’s a bit of explaining to do,” Mr Daley told reporters.

“No one knows what’s happening inside there, just like the light rail, I can’t answer the question because no one is allowed in.”

Not surprising. Libs allowed themselves to get wedged on this and now labor can be all anti stadium despite knowing full well they will have to spend money once elected to deal with the SFS.

In the end, rebuild or development, this mostly screws the Libs, Rugby Australia and the SCG Trust and I'm OK with that outcome.

It's the plans for homebush that I'm far more concerned about. Australia's de facto home stadium is a heap of shit and simple refurb isn't going to do squat.

This. Homebush was the original priority until the SCG Trust got involved.
